Located in the middle of town, almost smack in the middle of what you may well refer to as "the…read morerestaurant district" because there are that many of them in the immediate vicinity, it's a great vibe just not to the pub itself but the general area. In the summer all of the restaurants have their outdoor seating as well, creating a buzz in the setting sun, but even in the winter as of now this place always feels warm, genuine and welcoming walking in. Been to several Bishops Arms over the years, but truthfully this is the place that feels mostly like a real English pub (yes, I've been to those too). Fairly low ceiling, wooden beams and posts, dark wooden interior, benches, people crowding both at the bar and over the tables along with dimmed lighting to create the right atmosphere. It also has a lot of twists and corners in its layout, creating an interesting space as you have to walk around the entire place to get a feel for it. If you manage to get a table in any of the back rooms, those are the most quiet and relaxing tables more suitable for eating than simply a drink with snacks. But truthfully, you don't really expect peace and quiet at a pub now do you? The food is, true to any pub with a reputation, never cheap on calories. We're talking fried potatoes, char grilled meat, buttery sauces and creamy aioli - everything you expect at a pub. The downside to the place? The staff, sorry to say. Most of the times they are either too stressed due to too many people, or the simple fact of unexperienced waiter/waitresses handling the food. Although what I appreciate mostly about this pub is not the food nor the environment, even if both of those things are up to scratch, it's actually their assortment of whiskeys. They have the rich, smoky and dark ones that I truly like, but also the more amazing and subtle ones such as Scottish grain. Whenever I'm here, and there's been a couple of times, I always try something new and I usually leave the establishment with a new favorite lodged in the back of my mind. So there are positives and negatives, and I'd consider that they equally raise and lower the bar so in the end I'm left standing on middle ground. And many times, that is more than enough.

Guitars is located in an old 3-story dark brick building. It was thoroughly renovated in order to…read morehost "Guitars - The Museum" which is the worlds largest and most expensive collection of guitars valued to several hundred millions. On the top floor, underneath the tilted white ceiling and grey/black interior decoration is Guitars - The Restaurant. I went here with two close friends one evening for some casual celebration. The ambience is nice paired with more than adequate food. I had fried mozzarella with marinated vegetables as a starter together with a nicely peired white wine. For main I had the veal served with bacon, onion, mushrooms and potato gratin with cheddar and capers. Great combination of flavors that was satisfying. For desserts I must say they both stumble and falter. Nothing really appealed to me particularly much but I settled with an apple pie served in a jar. It was....ok, I guess. Flavorsome but nothing that stood out. So in all, I really like the environment, the food is ok (think up-scaled pub-food where the quality doesn't justify the price), but the big let-down is the waiter and serving staff. Too slow, not attentive when they need to be and this place could definitely do with a bit sharper staff, as that would also sharpen my grade. Two knives out of five in total, but for the food alone I'd throw an extra knife on the wall.

If you are into guitars this is a MUST VISIT. We got really lucky the first time I went to the museum, it was supposed to be closed for an event, but as it had not started yet and we we're in town for only a few days, they let us in AND provided us with a personal guide to show us around. The guy really knew his guitars and we had a blast for almost an hour seeing all the rare guitars and chatting to the guy about history and the tech. Amazing! I have also visited the bar quite a few times for beers with friends, making use of the outdoor seating when warmer and inside when colder. It's a nice atmosphere, decent music playing but it is a bit pricey. Haven't eaten anything but peanuts here, so I can't speak for their food service. Personally i like the mixed gender bathroom situation, feels very gender equality Swedish, but I'm sure that throws some visitors off.
