My partner and I went for a set meal for 2 which was enough for 4 people to share with extra. We ordered extra fish to BBQ and a couple of side dishes. The portions are huge and great value for money. The hot plate on the middle of your table makes it a very fun and sociable experience. The service is fast and helpful if you are unsure of what each meal is. Can't wait to return with friends to share the experience.

I was honestly surprised when I found an actually good Korean restaurant in Cardiff as Korean food isn't typically one of the more well-known or popular Asian cuisines. However, if you're an adventurous eater or someone who's tried Korean food elsewhere and missing it (like myself), Kimchi is perfect! As I haven't been inside the restaurant, I can't speak much for the atmosphere or the customer service. The only thing notable about the customer service is that the delivery arrived perfectly on time and the driver was very polite and courteous. Aside from that, the main thing I care about the food and it was great! I highly recommend their bento boxes. At just over £11, it's actually a surprisingly decent value for money as the portion sizes are HUGE and extremely filling. Your choice of meat came with Korean dumplings, seaweed soup, kimchi, rice, and lovely Korean pancakes. We'd definitely order from here again or even stop by the actual restaurant if we're the area. A definite surprising find to see GREAT Korean food in Cardiff!

It does a very good deal on a 'stop the clock' idea, which means you can sit and eat for two hours, from the moment of your first order. The cost is £15.80 which can't be bad. Personally I recommend the Bulgogi, thin sliced BBQ steak. Ushikata! I have hesitated in recommending Teppan Oriental because its very appeal is that all the customers are apparently Korean, Japanese or Chinese and this adds to the atmosphere...

The Chinese Hot Pot also known as Shabu Shabu in Japan, and in Singapore and Malaysia the Steamboat. Like fondue but replaced with a simmering metal pot of stock at the centre of the table where diners place their ingredients into the pot to cook. The cooked food is usually eaten with a variety of dipping sauces. Typical Hot Pot dishes include thinly sliced meat, vegetables, dumplings and seafood. Not only is it my first day back living on the glorious Gloucester Road after a 9 month hiatus, but I finally got round to trying Dain Korea, a new(ish) Korean restaurant just up from the arches. From the outside I'll be honest, it looks a bit tacky. It certainly doesn't look less than 12 months old, which it is. But it looks interesting, which is why I'd been looking forward to coming. Inside was a bit of a surprise. There was the expected plain tables with chop sticks, but with a wooden, thatched style hut over the counter. It didn't really fit, but I loved it for its character. It was pretty funny! On to the food: very good! Unfortunately I don't know much about Korean food. Bristol has some superb Asian restaurants, but we're not quite as developed at London or Birmingham - so Korean food is something of a welcomed new coming. That said, i thoroughly enjoyed the noodles. They were very wet but with tons of flavour. They actually brought me out a little plate of pickled vegetables and a small plate of yellow beans to start and the noodles came with a delicious Miso soup. The miso was darker than any I have had before and probably tastier than any other as well. This is a great little spot. Not that it needs to be plush to be good, but it a little polish around the edges and this place would be great to eat in as well. I'll be back (no Arnold Schwarzenegger voice attached here)

I have tried to get into SKK for lunch a few times over the the last couple of weeks, but they had sold out of everything every time I tried. So even after a big breakfast, I decided to head down early to avoid disappointment. Now, from the outside, Sky Kong Kong doesn't look that appealing. The sign above the door looks like my 2 year old nephew did it with some crayons, but I really like it. I like being unenthused walking into a restaurant and then blown away by the time I walk out. Inside can only be summed up as quirky. There are 3 long tables with around 10 chairs on each and a few books about Asian food and art. It looks as if its been put together in a few hours, and it probably was. But again, I really like it. It works! Now onto the food: wow! They have a two course bento menu that changes daily and today it started with a tomatoes an cherry dish. Unfortunately I didn't get all the details of this dish, but essentially it was sliced tomatoes, cherries and a delicious olive oil dressing. It was really refreshing and for somebody that doesn't love tomatoes, I demolished it! Unfortunately, but in true SKK fashion, they had run out of chicken for the main. So I had pan seared salmon instead: oh, go on then ;) That came with a courgette & parmesan pancake, cabbage with chorizo, wild rice and another cabbage dish. It was seriously good. For £6.50 it was amazing! This is definitely a five star lunch if ever I've had one!

What I found from their Cargo location in Bristol's Wapping Wharf was a slightly pricey, though not overpriced, but delicious meal with incredible mains and sides. If you want to skip the long form review, its good and you should definitely go. First, our mains. I chose the *KFC Chicken Katsu Curry and my wife picked the Ground Pork Tantanmen ramen. Part of the reason we had chosen the Cargo location was my wife wanting a good soup and the Tantanmen fit the bill. We barely got it in the picture it was so good. The stock was a bit creamy and had that good spice/heat that sits in the back of the throat. The noodles and pork were delicious and cooked perfectly. The *KFC (for Korean Fried Chicken) Katsu Curry was great, the curry sauce being separate was ideal, and the chicken was juicy and tender without being greasy. Both dishes were really well portioned for a mains price. The sides were plentiful and also well priced with umami ribs, toasted edamame, grilled pak choy, charshu pork belly, and a seasoned egg. The umami ribs were the priciest but were delicious and fall off the bone good. Would have liked a little more meat on them but great either way. The charshu pork belly was incredible, tender and a savory sweet. The toasted edamame really surprised as did the grilled pak choy, though I preferred the edamame. My wife enjoyed the egg but admitted it would have been better added to the ramen. Delicious food that will definitely bring us back for more.

The weather was fiiiiine, and the food finer. The crispy duck rice noodle salad was stunning - vibrant orange zinged through rich, decadently fatty meat. The Korean fried chicken Bao, was delish and had a serious kick from the fiery kimchi! Love the community feel of CARGO and this is a great addition to the burgeoning Brizzle foodie scene...

For a small shop, it is super compact and has a really good selection of ambient, fresh and frozen Korean and Japanese products (as well as some from other East and South East Asian countries) when considering the square footage. One time, when I was buying a 5kg bag of sushi rice, one of the storekeepers approached me and said that they could keep the bag behind the counter to save me from having to carry it around, which I really appreciated. The shop itself is bigger than it looks when you first enter and is crammed full of some really exciting looking food. I'm not sure what they're called but the icecream that's coated in some kind of rice... those are good! It's also nice to be able to buy soy sauce in a reasonable sized bottle - the ones you get at the supermarket are ridiculously small. The prices are fantastic, especially considering how far its all been flown, so I was extremely impressed.
