Parking is located on the side of the building in a shared lot, watch for a large pot hole near the street. The entrance is located on the street side and has a step. COVID protocols are in effect, hand sanitizer provided at the door, wear your mask and try to follow the floor signs which is hard to do because there is so much to look at. You will find a variety of items available, from yard stands, desk/shelf/any space decor, wall signs and much more. All of these items are quality crafted and really affordable prices! They of course have many Buffalo/WNY themes however you can also find superhero and holiday goods as well. Opposed to try to describe everything I recommend checking out their website and photos. It feels like every business is strapped for resources post-covid and the mental health industry is…read moreno exception. We have had positive experiences with the counselors at Horizon but it is VERY difficult to schedule sometimes and it can be difficult to get in with the right counselor. We have worked with 7 different counselors between three of us. I think the resources for adults are more available than resources for adolescents. We have limited options because of our insurance or we might have tried somewhere else sooner. That said, one of us is going out of network at this point because we couldn't get what we needed at Horizon. If Horizon accepts your insurance, then it's worth trying though. The counselors are very caring and the staff does their best. It's just difficult not having enough counselors and staff to meet the demand for mental healthcare right now.

First off let me start by saying if you have an addiction problem this is not a bad place to go they are very stern on medications. Horizon wants the patient to heal themselves with minimal medications geared towards addiction problems. They treat patients like statistics instead of people. Horizon has boxes that they group patients in and if you don't fit in those boxes the quality of care plummets. I have been going to psychiatry for 20+ years and I have bipolar adhd and ptsd. When I told them about my plans to start a business and go to college, they told me I wasn't good enough to do any of those and if I tried I would fail, the opposite of what they are supposed to do, inspire hope in their patients. I have been doing this long enough that I know what medications work for me. They would decrease my dosage without notifying me, didn't check interaction list for medications they prescribed me, medications that I never talked with them about. If I didn't check those lists, the meds would have killed me from the interaction. They failed to keep my meds supplied and sent me into a bipolar suicidal spiral. Their mentality of "if their drooling/loopy their not having anxiety" caused great amounts of panic for my family as I stumbled around incoherently from the medication. After they made me that way, they said if I stay on the meds that loopy effect "should" go away, I hardly remember anything from my time on that medication. The psychiatrists don't listen to the patient and their history of what works, especially if it is a controlled substance or not a common prescription. They will try everything else first, uncaring of the damage it causes the patient from switching to different medication after medication. They hire students and inexperienced staff who are unable/unwilling to adapt or differentiate a patients needs based on the patients situation and history. The people that they hire allow their emotions to impede their judgement and hinder their ability to empathize or understand their patients needs. Because of these problems, specifically with Ashley one of thier psychiatrist, I asked for a new psychiatrist in thier practice. Today I had a new appointment with joelle one of their other psychiatrist and she had the same mentality as the previous psychiatrist. When I talked to her about what medications work for me she lied about why she wouldn't prescribe said medications because they were a controlled substance and it would interact with the pain medication I am on. I have been on both medications at the same time without issue for years. I understand the trifecta effect and how it can cause respiratory depression. I told the doctor I was willing to go off of my nerve pain medication so we can avoid the trifecta effect. She got upset and said no, I said I understood and because of that I was going to find a new provider. As soon as she heard that she refused to up the dosage on my mood stabilizer or change any medications even though the low dosages are negatively effecting my health. She ended the video call in the middle of me speaking to her, showing that she doesn't care about my health at all. In conclusion this facility is detrimental to the health of anyone, including children, unless you are seeking help for addiction problems.
