Passing by the Museo de Bellas Artes, we came upon the duck pond where toddlers frolicked as their parents traded gossip with each other while smoking their cigarettes (photo: http://bit.ly/2BBuno4). There was an oddly gymnastic young couple who looked like they were on the brink of fornication on the lawn, but perhaps they were practicing for the next Summer Olympics. Our people-watching respite among the greenery gave us just enough of a recharge to give us momentum for the rest of our Bilbao day.

Monte Artxanda is a great option if you're looking for a nice view of the city. However, it is…read moreslightly hazy up there. A lot of people take the funicular up to the top which I believe is 0.90€ one way, however I decided to pull up directions on Google maps and take the walk. I personally recommend the walk as about 3/4 of the way up the mountain, there's better views then there would be from the top because of how hazy it is. I also wouldn't consider it a difficult hike, as you're mostly just walking through residential streets and I believe it took me about 40 minutes to get up, starting at the funicular. At the top of the mountain in the look out, there's park benches and a fountain so I would recommend packing a lunch and eating it at the top

We got tickets to enjoy the exhibits within and enjoyed them. Im not a huge artist buff so we mainly walked around leisurely and had a good time. We caught "F.O.G." by Fujiko Nakaya, which is active every hour on the hour- hours are dependent on the month. "Red Arches" by Daniel Burenbhas has a lighting show and "Fire Fountain" by Yves Klein are both active in the evening. The museum consists of contemporary and modern art. I'm not a big museum person, but there were things that I enjoyed. I was pleasantly surprised to see one of Yayoi Kusama's infinity mirrored rooms- "A Wish for Human Happiness Calling from Beyond the Universe". I wished they let you in the room longer when there wasn't much of a line. "The Matter of Time" by Richard Sierra on the ground floor was also fun to walk around/through. The second floor was mostly closed, so we didn't get the full experience. Overall, the museum is a must if you're in Bilbao.

The park remains quite busy into the evening hours. I saw folks with their kids playing as late at 10:30 PM. There is a bandshell and a fountain and underground parking.
