My BF and I had the pleasure of seeing the play, The Full Monty, 8 months ago, back in late July/early August 2016. What an absolute amazing theatrical experience. The play was hysterical and the actors were brilliant! We really enjoyed ourselves! I'm not sure if the staff that night at The Provincetown Theatre works for this theatrical company/ensemble or for the actual Provincetown theatre building. Here is my review, I originally posted for the actual Provincetown theatre - we were very impressed with the building itself - What an absolute amazing theatrical experience! The staff was amazing, accommodating and very sweet! The Theatre itself was very comfortable and a very nice setup. Such a beautiful space. My BF and I saw The Fully Monty, the play was hysterical and the actors were brilliant. We really enjoyed ourselves! We opted for the cheapest seats and we were not disappointed at all. I would not recommend the VIP seats - they are right on top of the stage - for me that would not be comfortable, but they do have a small table for your beverages. Honestly I think the center cheap seats had the best view!! If you have a chance to see a play here, I definitely recommend it!! read more

My family and I were in Provencetown and were lucky enough to be at Peregrine Theater Ensembles presentation of Hamlet. This is a refreshing, energetic, and original performance. The words and interpretation left me with a new appreciation for Hamlet! The players hold your interest from start to finish and the quality and professionalism of these highly skilled actors is something to experience! Get thee to the theater! read more

Went to see Carrie The Musical last night at the old Provincetown Theater last night Pros: OMG I was so impressed with the talented cast and quality of production! Everything was on point from the performers, the live orchestra, choreography, the staging, lighting and direction. So completely and unexpectedly enjoyable, both funny and poignant. The gruesome parts not too gruesome for my squeamish companion and The musical numbers and acting surpassed the expectations of my theater snob companion. I was a bit hesitant to go as I was not interested in the story line and it seemed a bit pricey to bring a group; but I'm so glad I did. I'm too lazy to find my play bill but I feel I should mention the demonic brilliance and amazing voice of the woman who played Mrs White, Carrie did an amazing job as a fragile and tormented girl. The entire ensemble was very engaging and so fun to watch as well as listen to. Cons: there really weren't any, I feel I should warn you that theater is not air conditioned so undress accordingly, bring a hand towel, buy a drink at the bar and a few bottles of water and get set to lose yourself for a fun filled couple of hours Summary: Go! Go! Go! Such a shame more people don't! The Peregrine theatre is on my summer must do list and it should be on yours! read more

DO NOT MISS THIS PRODUCTION!! I have been a huge fan of Chicago since seeing the original Fosse production on Broadway in the 70s. I was so pleasantly surprised at the level of professionalism on display during Peregrine's production. From the opening All That Jazz, you could tell it was going to be a 'razzle dazzle" performance. Roxy, Velma, Billy, Mary Sunshine, and Mama Morton were ALL amazing. The singing, the choreography, direction were all perfect. If you are a fan of Chicago, get yourself to Provincetown and see this show! read more

Not often that you sit on the edge of your seat through a production of Hamlet, but these young actors are bringing the play to absolutely vivid life. A lean, tense 2 hour production by this brilliant ensemble; funny and full of wonderful moments, where the famous lines are spoken so naturally that the viewer sees the story afresh. Hamlet is playing in rep with a terrific production of Rent, so you can see the same actors belting out "La Vie Boheme" and "One Song Glory". They're having a great time and so is the audience. It's very exciting to see this young, professional company growing here in Provincetown. read more

Went to see Rent last night at the Provincetown theater. I was nervous when we first sat down and saw the tiny stage and no set. But I was very impressed with the production! It moved fast the whole time and the set really wasn't missed. I've seen the show on Broadway and the voices in this production were just as good. Definitely worth the $28-38/ticket. Saw Cabaret last night. Superb set, direction, cast was very talented, I would need to name each, they were all very good and Sarah Thorn wascertainly was impressive if you have any memories of past Sally Bowles over the years. exceptional choreography, so precise.. Powerful Cast, Perfect Venue and a Captivating Show - Catch Carrie before September 9! I am so happy that we decided to see this show. It was not on our original vacation itinerary but we heard about it just in time to add it to our plans. I was a bit unsure about Carrie the Musical. The original Broadway debut did not go well and I was not sure how the well worn story would translate on stage. Peregrine's production is captivating and the talent far surpassed my expectations. It is not gory or terribly frightening but it is a powerful portrayal of a sad story of ostracism and religious mania. This cast is simply wonderful. The characters are rendered authentically and the ensemble is cohesive. Carrie does not include a lot of (OK, any!) toe tapping numbers or memorable melodies, but the vocalists in this production are simply outstanding. I thoroughly enjoyed the staging of this production. It is performed in a former high school auditorium so you're taken back to that stage of life before the show even begins. The set is minimal but very effective and the evocative lighting is well used throughout. You will be very impressed with the pit; they were remarkable! My son will enter high school in the fall and this show was perfect for him. It is edgy enough to appeal to young people and reinforces all of the work that schools do to discourage bullying and teach students to create supportive communities. I recommend the show for older middle school and high school students but I will give some details so that you can make an informed decision. The script includes a few f bombs and other authentic high school language. There is some raunchy dancing in the background but nothing that most kids have not seen on countless music videos. Menstruation is referenced but that is covered in 5th grade health. What I found more difficult to explain was the mother's failure to prepare her daughter for this change. Actually the most difficult bit of the entire show is Carrie's mother. She is portrayed vividly and deeply by an actress who clearly did the work to find compassion for this character. Both terrifying and heart breaking, Mrs. White will probably spark some interesting conversation on the drive home. The show ends powerfully but you do not need to brace yourself for a gross display. It is tragic and chilling but it does not cross the line into the macabre. Peregrine has earned a permanent position on our vacation roster; I can't wait to see what they do next summer. read more

We are big fans of Broadway and community theater and we were looking for local theater productions when we were planning our trip to the Cape this summer. When we got to P-Town last week we were walking on Commercial St. and spotted the banner for Chicago, one of our favorite musicals. The tickets were the right price ($30 each). We are so glad that we got to see this production. The performers are amazing and what an opportunity to see such great dancing and hear such great singing for a deal of a ticket price in a small venue. The theater is a converted school theater and they have drinks and snacks. (Be advised that the school bathroom with stalls is truly unisex.) The production quality was outstanding for a small stage. The performers seem to be mostly performing arts students and I would not be surprised if they make it to Broadway. They were that good. Velma, Roxie, Billy Flynn and Mary Sunshine among others. The company has to advertise better to fill some of their empty seats. If you don't know the play, it's not for younger kids and it's a little different from the movie. This place should be a packed house. Go see it before it closes on Sept. 3!! read more

I'm not sure one can objectively quantify a completely subjective experience but here goes, anyway. I first fell under the spell of this group when they were incarnated as Shakespeare on the Cape back in 2006. Closing night of "As You Like It" at the Art House in Provincetown. There are people and events that, if you're paying attention, can completely change the trajectory of your life. This turned out to be a transformative, watershed moment for me. I've happily followed them ever since and have been thrilled to see them coalesce into Peregrine. Their production of Rent was a superb success in every sense of the word. Any Shakespeare that this group turns its classically trained eye towards is always a joy to behold, their production of Hamlet no exception. It is no surprise that their treatment of musical theatre has been met with well-deserved accolades. If you happen to be in Provincetown anytime they are taking the stage, don't miss the opportunity to let these masters of their craft show you how live theatre transforms lives. You won't be disappointed. read more
