Such a great venue. We were in Ptown during their annual Film Festival and Arthouse has two theaters that are set up for both movie and live performances. Seating approximately 100 people in theatre 1, there is plenty of space for a good crowd. In addition to the theaters, there is a large bar and outdoor patio for dining and drinking and more drinking. It feels fresh and recently renovated. I enjoyed the space and look forward to returning for other events down the road. read more

We love that Provincetown has this venue for the variety of shows that it brings, and I'm giving it a 4-star rating as we've enjoyed most everything we've seen here over the past several years. However, a heads-up about "VIP" seating: after purchasing "VIP" seating and arriving early to get the best seat selection, we discovered that a large portion of the "VIP" seating section was "reserved" (presumably for friends of management who showed up just before curtain) -- so don't expect the best seats for your "VIP seating" dollars, no matter how early you show up to wait in line! read more

This place is just cool, imho. A bar, a cafe, and a show. What more can you ask for (other than a hot man to go with). Just a great space. I saw Judy Gold's stand up and thought it was hilarious! Definitely a highlight of my trip to P-town. A variety of shows rotate through here, so there is something for everyone. This was the highlight of my trip. Going to a quaint intimate "art house" for an intimate evening of theater was the perfect addition to my vacation. Being from NYC and a broadway aficionado, I was thrilled to catch Judy Kuhn and Seth Rudetsky. The show was beyond my expectation. Judy captured every song perfectly in a moving and memorizing manner. Seth highlighted her career well and the stories told were enjoyable and inspiring. Purchasing my ticket at the box office with cash I found the box office person to be very patient answering all my questions about covid safety as it was a concern for me and discussing if VIP tickets were worth it due to a small theater and a previous yelp review exercising caution. I decided to buy the VIP and glad I did. Got their early enough to be first in line and was first in theater and there were plenty of good seats for me to choose. Being up close added to the intimacy. It was great to be up close to the artist. The Art House is a must visit on a trip to Provincetown and see anything just for the experience. Pleased that Covid precautions were put in place such as vaccination status checked and masks worn which was not a big deal to do. read more

Be very careful patronizing the Art House. Last year, we showed up for a show, and the show started significantly late. This year, we were on line for quite a while (thinking the same thing was happening) until we got inside, and were told by the staff that we had missed the show we had come to see by half an hour. We had been waiting on line for the wrong show for 45 minutes! On our last night in P-town. Let me emphasize this fact: there was one single line outside the theater for general admission. The dizzy, inept staff were so busy chatting and giggling with each other, no one asked to see our ticket, informed anyone what line they should be on, asked anyone what show they were seeing, directed any of the patrons, announced anything, or provided any kind of guidance whatsoever. I had no idea there were even other shows going on at this place. They had the simplest task in the world--make sure patrons who had already paid for their tickets got in to the right show--and they failed at even that. Let me emphasize this secondary fact: amazingly, they gave us a hard time about a refund. But don't worry, we got it. You just have to insist, and they cave like paper puppets. They have no idea how to house manage their own theater, no clue how to run a business at all, and they're too stupid to care. The space itself is nothing special; it's basically a medium-sized movie theater that no one really bothered to convert. And even the box office staff makes fun of the fact that the Art House thinks it's a premium airline. You can (sorry...lmao) buy, uh, VIP tickets at a $25 mark-up to sit in the first two rows. Your call on that one. We contacted the theater about our experience. Unsurprisingly, no one responded. In fact, the only person who did apologize was the performer himself, who was blameless. This is a sleazy operation, and an embarrassment to an otherwise beautiful town, chock full of small businesses nurtured by their owners for years. Yes, it was aggravating; we had changed our dinner reservation to accommodate this particular show, but the night wasn't a loss because of the buffoonish incompetence of one silly theater. We saw a different show, across the street, at the Crown & Anchor--cheaper and better run--and it was fantastic. read more

Heads up. If you're buying tickets via your phone browser, use m.bpt.me instead of what arthouse website sends you to which is the desktop site. That site is NOT optimized for your phone and you can EASILY purchase tickets for the wrong date like I apparently did. No returns, no exchanges. No help at the box office...period. I'm stuck with $95 worth of tickets I WILL NOT BE USING. If you DO find yourself in this untenable situation, call brown paper tickets help immediately. There is a 12-24 hour grace period where they can reverse it. (Wish I knew that a few days ago.) July 2019, came to the Art House to see Judy Gold, and she was so funny. Love her humor- Most of the material was new but, we did recognize a few stories from two years ago, which was fine. All a and all, you should see Judy Gold if you get a chance. Also the Art House is a small Theater with comfortable seating. read more

Sorry, Art House but you've REALLY screwed up! You still have great shows, so that gets you a few stars, but the vile stink of Blondie's greasy, burning flesh, and your brand spankin' new stark, unwelcoming decor, makes people mighty uncomfortable when they walk in the door. Nothing like a little nausea with your entertainment. Does it not bother the performers that half of their audience members needs barf bags? Dumb. I recently attended the show, Well Strung, at the Ptown Art House; Mark Cortale, Donna Drake and those four talented and handsome young men have created Ptown's must-see show of the season. It's fresh, fun, playful, vibrant, invigorating and alive; it raises the bar for future entertainment in town. Yes, they are that good. Take two violins, one cello and one viola, mix with a dash of humor, song and some fierce string work, and combine with a variety of classical and contemporary music and you have an evening of pure auditory and visual bliss. The small venue makes the resonance of the instruments pop - it's full, rich, and wildly satisfying. And it is deeply refreshing and enlivening to see these young men passionately play their instruments so well. Go on, treat yourself. This is such a great stopping spot. During the winter, its one of the rare places open you can catch a really great cup of coffee, free (and really solid) wifi, and space/outlets for your lappie. The food is awesome (though, bring cash as they don't take cards... frustrating). There's a lot of variety from inspired salads, to sandwiches, wraps, soups, treats.... The theatre is a great spot for shows, I've seen a few comedy sets there and its just intimate enough to be cozy, but enough to get real acts. Saw Boylesque last night. Two words sum it up: Epic Fail. I actually felt sorry for the dancers. The so called emcee was pathetic. Our group, along with most of the audience, walked out after a few "acts" It was opening night, but from what we saw it should be closing night too!! Beware in purchasing your 2017 tickets to shows as many of the VIP seats are now reserved. All prime seats i.e. Aisles or those with best vantage point had white signs with names. When purchasing tickets know that paying twice as much will get you the first seven rows but very limited selection! No reflection on the performers whatsoever who are usually amazing in this cozy venue. read more

I bought a ticket to see Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka on Aug 10. I purchased the ticket in May and now my work schedule won't allow me to take the time off. When I bought the ticket, I knew that it was non-refundable, but I figured I could make it work somehow because this might be the chance of a lifetime. Unfortunately, I can't do it. So I called the box office as instructed by Brown Paper tickets. The manager Chris couldn't have been more rude or less helpful He told me there was nothing they could do and he sternly reminded me that I knew about the policy when I bought the ticket. He even asked me why I couldn't attend like he was looking for an acceptable excuse. No empathy, no suggestions for how I could help someone else to take advantage of my ticket. I felt like I was in a scene from "The Boys in the Band". I've seen several shows here and I love the quality of talent coming to this and many venues in Ptown. But let's not forget that this place was a haven for artists and was made famous by the likes of Tennesee Williams and Eugene O'Neil. They would have wanted their seats full, not just paid for. I've seen Varla so many times I think she might label me a stalker, Well Strung several times and I am a stalker, Andrea Martin, Cheyenne Jackson, Megan Hilty, the list goes on and on because I am a live theater addict. I have never been disappointed and am really thrilled at all the great theater in Ptown. I've never seen a bad show. But let's drop the attitude, ok ? read more

I've seen 3 shows here and it is a great venue! Back in August 2015 I attended both Courtney Act and Bianca Del Rio's shows here, and just last week I saw Courtney perform here again. Both queens are very amazing entertainers, and I'm sure the other entertainers who perform here are very good as well! I loved getting to meet Courtney and Bianca after their shows in the bar/lobby area I buy my tickets every year ahead of time online and I've never had a problem with it so far. Once I arrive in Ptown I pick them up from the theater box office right away and everything goes smoothly. The theaters aren't overly big so shows have a more classy, welcoming atmosphere to them which I enjoy. I recommend getting there 30 minutes early if you don't have VIP tickets for a show and still want a close seat. For 2 of the 3 shows I went to, I arrived only about 15 to 20 minutes before the show and I ended up in a middle row of the theater (which is still a pretty good seat!! don't get me wrong). When I saw Bianca's show last year I got there even earlier but it still wasn't enough due to it being one of her first shows in town. If a show is very new and popular, I suggest getting there even earlier then 30 minutes! I was in the back row but with Bianca's type of act, I still had a blast read more

Seating is first come, first serve. VIP tickets are not worth it, they will sell you them when there aren't even available seats. They end up bringing chairs in and seat you in the aisle. They couldn't explain why there weren't any seats left. Ended up seeing the Golden girls show, it was about 50 minutes. There were a couple funny parts, but was kind of sad the actors forgot some of their lines. Save your money and spend it elsewhere in town. If you absolutely must go, get there as early as possible or else don't expect to sit with your group. read more

A gem in the heart of Provincetown, not to mention one of the few places open during the off season. But that wasn't the only reason I loved it. They have some truly yummy sandwich choices. We went back every day we were in Provincetown to try a different one. Everything was super fresh. And they have a bunch of board games you can play. The changes that they have made at the Art House over the past 5 or so years have really improved P-Town. This past summer they had really good shows, the cafe was delicious, and I try to see almost every movie that plays there. Even if you don't take advantage of the entertainment, chill out with a coffee and your computer and entertain yourself on the wireless service in the comfy lounge. We went here for a drink and snack and it was nice. Arrived just before a show started so it was busy and very bright. Wait staff was very thoughtful when we inquired about food, asking us if we were expecting to eat before imminent show. Since we were not, she kindly asked us if we could wait a few minutes until the doors opened for the show and then she would have more time to help us. Sure enough, minutes later the place emptied out (into theater), the lights dimmed to a comfortable level, and our smiling, friendly, hard-working bartender came over to our table to take our order. During the winter, I really enjoy getting a coffee and a breakfast sandwich. It's good food and very convenient in the center of town. During the summer, they have incredible "fast food", which is actually gourmet "to-go". Wonderful entree's and sides at a fair price for the volume of food that you get. My partner and I are in P-town for a week. We asked for a recommendation as to which show to see at the Art House, and "Well Strung" was suggested. We LOVED this one hour show with a very talented, very handsome young all-male string quartet from NYC performing classics from Mozart and Dvorak and terrific arrangements of current pop hits by Adele, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, etc. They SING in 4 part harmony as well as play, with some provocative banter in between. The show is HOT, and the members of the quartet make love to the music and through it to the audience. I did not expect to see this caliber of talent and performance in P-town. HIGHLY recommended. Me and the wife went to see Judy Gold at the recommendation of a gentlemen we met at lunch and she was hilarious. It was an hour show, but she performed for almost and hour and a half, well worth the $60 we paid. Highly recommend stopping in as they always have talented performers on their calendar. read more

What has happened here? This year if you want "dinner" it will consist of a burger (snack bar) style food and the smell is unpleasantly overwhelming. I was so disappointed at the venue. Just a year ago it was GREAT. They have changed in the past year and not for the better. I used to love this place. (We are talking 5 stars kind of like) this used to be such a nice venue. Go in grab a nice dinner at the café (Frappo 66), which had excellent food and choices that changed daily, and a drink from the bar and then see a great show. Staff was friendly (they still are). The place was nice, warm and inviting. Now, not so much. Walked in the door this year the décor is bare bones, the smell made my nauseated (just an overwhelming grease smell), I could not eat there and the smell even kept me from having a drink there. When I did go for my show there I waited until the last minute to be seated and walked through directly to my seat to not have to smell the place. New owners? in the midst of a reno that isn't completed yet? Something is up. Please fix this place before next year. read more
