Our goal was to find an accounting firm in Dallas that understood our growth mindset and was entrepreneur-friendly. We wanted help with tax preparation and to make sure we were bookkeeping with best practices. It took months and countless unanswered emails to get anywhere with Kelly CPA accountants after the first in person meeting. Our intake form and answers provided were even lost by their office at one point. After calling and being blatantly ignored multiple times by the accountant their first assigned us, they finally assigned a new accountant a few weeks before the deadline to file. I asked multiple times over email and calls to meet in person to review our information since the firm lost our data. He ignored my requests for the in person meeting just like the previous accountant who was assigned. I have major issues with the way they bill. Part of it is my fault - make sure if you use them to get their fees agreed to in writing. They claim they discussed this in person at our first meeting, but we don't have this written down nor do we remember for sure if it was agreed to many months ago. They don't include pricing in the engagement letter, which makes no sense to me. A simple google search shows this business charges 2-3x the average market price for tax returns - definitely worth knowing before signing an engagement letter. Finally, after requesting a sit-down with their bookkeepers to review best practices and being ignored on that, it was clear they weren't a firm that truly cares about supporting small businesses. They have done a great job with their marketing and the millennial friendly office space - but these things definitely duped me.

Unfortunately, she did not batch payments to each invoice as required. Instead, she made journal entries because she said "that is how we clear the deposits we cannot match to the bank statement". Of course they can be matched. That is not the correct method for keeping books for a small business. This approach may have saved her a lot of time, but it has caused significant issues for us. We had to undo all the deposits for the last 3 months, redo them, and match payments properly to ensure the records are accurate. This may be something that large corporations do but a small business must have accurate customer records. My last 2 bookkeepers (over a 25-year period) matched each payment with each individual invoice, correctly. I didn't want to leave this review, but Mary has refused to reimburse me for what I paid her for March books even though I am having to undue and redo all the deposits since the beginning of January when she began keeping my books. I have worked an extra 15-20 hours a week for a month to fix the books from Jan to now. I never would have hired Mary had I known she would think this was an okay practice. BEWARE!!! This experience has been frustrating and time-consuming. Proper bookkeeping is essential for maintaining accurate financial records, and shortcuts like these can lead to more work and potential errors down the line. The consultation went great, so I hired the firm on June 1, 2025. Unfortunately, everything went downhill from there. A few weeks after onboarding, I noticed nothing had been updated in QuickBooks. I followed up several times, but each time I received vague responses or no response at all. Given that my business had only been operating a short time, there shouldn't have been much to sort through, yet months passed with no progress. As the tax deadline approached, I again followed up--only then did I receive an email stating I owed over $10,000. This made no sense because Ashley and I had never even discussed my tax situation. After expressing my frustration and insisting on clarification, she eventually discovered several errors and misfilings, which brought the liability down to about $5,000. She assured me that once tax season passed, they would finally get my QuickBooks cleaned up. It is now December 8th, and nothing has been done. My books have not been touched since June 1st. I had a one-on-one meeting in October to try to resolve this, and I sent multiple messages afterward asking for updates and explanations. My last message plainly asked why I was paying a monthly fee for services that were not being performed. I never received a response. Today, I officially terminated my relationship with the firm.
