I booked first appt of the day hoping I wouldn't get in the way too much. The service was superb. They were so cautious with me which I really appreciated. All of my nails turned white after the polish chipped off. They told me it was due to expired nail polish. Can you imagine - new salon/expired nail polish?? The last time I was there, I noticed that the staff tried to skip an important part of pedicure and did a very lazy scrub! Furthermore, I just noticed on their receipt that they apply sales tax to your tips too, which is totally ILLEGAL!!! I will call & let them know. It better be corrected or my next call will be to CRA. The most disturbing fact was she used the same set of instruments on my hand nails, as she used during my pedicure. I also observed that at the end she scrubbed them under running water for about 5 seconds & put them back in her container. The instruments were not taken for sterilization and will be likely used on the next customer. Seeing all this killed all of my trust in them! I would advise anyone NOT to go there if you don't want to end up with some kind of nail decease!!

She sighed at me and looked around in annoyance and rudeness when I asked if I could take a peek to see if the nails are the same length before she started painted them. She had the guts to tell me that they were the same length without even comparing them. I put them side by side and said look, the ones from the right hand are much longer. She then proceeded to start filing to fix them a little better. Then, I asked if she could let me know when she would fix the corners because they were too square (so sharp they could cut). If I remember correctly, she sighed and said "let me finish my job"...and it just went downhill from there. It was clear that she was exhausted from her day of work, before she even start with me, and just wanted to get it over with. She didn't even clean my nails with the cuticle pusher or the clipper and proceeded to put the fake nail and was hurrying to slap the colour on top. On my ring finger's nail, she tried to cut the frozen cuticle AFTER she applied the polish and although it scratched the side, she just put the top coat on and asked me to cure it in the machine. I couldn't believe she didn't even attempt to fix her mistake. When I noticed how uninterested she was (as I would ask how her day went and she wouldn't reply, and I would thank her on multiple occasions and make remarks on how pretty they look when in fact they looked awful, she would still not reply). On top of it all, what bothered me the most is how crooked the nails were in the end, and yet, she couldn't have cared less. When I asked her to fix it politely (i asked if she could and if she couldn't, it was totally okay), she filed here and there and stopped. At that point I was too sad and decided to take the nail file and do it myself. I paid $75 + I gave her a $4 tip just because I felt like it's the right thing to do, but inside I feel very saddened by this experience. I've never been this mistreated in a nail salon and I've been to MANY. I've seen nail technicians who have done a bad job but NEVER did I have to take the nail file and do it myself and she just got up, took her stuff and left. Needless to say, I'm very disappointed because I was looking forward to paint them for a long time. I hope she realizes how rude she was and how unfortunate it is for her because the team seemed fun and nice. It was her who simply didn't care.

I figured since I had nothing on my fingernails, I'd try their standard gel manicure as well. Ana's is close to my house and had good reviews. I had their fanciest of pedicures with hot stone massage. I really enjoyed my pedicure and the polish application was great. In fact, I stubbed my toe on my front step that night and came back in the AM and they fixed it for me right away. The ladies that work there are very kind and friendly. It was packed when I came in for my services and it is obvious they have a lot of repeat clients. But my manicure was very disappointing. Afterwards my cuticles looked haggard and the gel polish began chipping within a few days and today I sustained a huge chip, 1 week after application. Based on that, I won't be back. ***Update*** it is the next day and 3/10 nails have peeled right off so I did a removal at home myself (with acetone like at that salon). So disappointing!
