If you like a stylist who charges you up front, expects you to be on time or else…read morethere is a fee--but, they are allowed to start 45 minutes late, while rotating though multiple appointments, taking personal calls and meal breaks--then, perhaps this is the stylist fo you. However, for me--at about $1500 for the service, I expected so much more! Here is the rundown.
1. Paid $35 for a consultation, where I was very specific about what I wanted and was assured that it could be delivered. That was a very natural, versatile sew-in, with the color exactly matching my own
2. During consolation, I was assured this would be an amazing experience and I would walk out completely satisfied. So, I paid almost $1500, which was required in-full, up-front
3. Received confirmation, along with my appointment time and a note confirming what we had discussed
4. Two days before my appointment, I was informed that the custom hair ordered was delayed--no problem, I totally understand.
5. The day before my appointment, I was given an update. Upon which I recommended that we just cancel and plan for when I get back from my work travel. "The assistant" not the stylist insisted that all would be OK and even called me to discuss such and encouraged me to keep the appointment.
6. The day of my appointment, I was notified that the hair arrived. My appointment was moved from 11AM to 3PM--given the stylist time to do the color
7. I arrived to my appointment ON TIME as her site insists. However, I did not get called back to get my hair washed until 3:45 and did not get into her chair until around 7PM
8. While at the wash bowl, the stylish did a flyby with the hair, which was still wet--so, of course, wet hair looks dark until it is blown out or dry
9. Important note--there is very low lighting in the salon, so that adds to the inability to clearly see things until you get into better lighting
10. She quickly sewed the hair in, not taking the time to show me how things were/were not blending, etc. It was not until I left her salon--which was during 8:30PM because she was moving between several clients, personal calls and meal breaks
11. I immediately text her when I got into proper lighting. She said she would schedule time with me to discuss options, which I was open to. But, I asked her to first send me an itemized receipt of the services she provided so I could see exactly what I had paid for
12. Adding insult to injury, I found out that she did not use the custom/raw bundles ordered--instead, she used some cheap hair from the beauty supply--which explains why it was knotting and shedding
13. Also, the style was not versatile at all--it was super bulky in the front ana there was no way I was gonna be able to pull it into any type of ponytail or updo.
14. She refused to send that receipt, she stopped responding to my text messages, and she never called.
For added context, it is important to note that I am very particular about my hair and I made this clear to her. I also shared with her the I have never had this done, so I am expecting her to step me through everything and to ensure that my hair looks completely natural. I have beautiful salt & pepper hair--you will see in the pictures that she installed some weird black, blonde & brown hair.
But, here is how God works--just happens that we know someone in common. That person told her a few key things that she ignored:
1. Custom gray cannot be done in a matter a few hours and it requires a certain level of skill. She sold herself to me on being able to do this color and it is just not the case
2. This common friend also co-signed what I had already stated--that I am particular about my hair and she further stated that sometimes you just have to admit that the job cannot be done.
Now... here we are. For me, this is a complete misrepresentation and simply a money grab--that is why she refused to provide an itemized receipt.
So, again--IF you like paying $1500 to be seen late and still walk away with a service that does not meet with what you were promised--then this is the place for you. There was NOTHING exceptional about this experience. Never again.
