I guess it's kind of Karma that this place went out of business and if they own the others that are in New Jersey, BEWARE! These guys are thieves! As with many folks, we hit hard times once in a while and even though it hurt me to pawn my moms ring, it was either that or not pay my rent. They assured me that my ring would be safe. Upon going to retrieve the ring and pay whatever fees owed, they told me it was gone and that they had sent me a letter. That is a LIE. NEVER SENT ANY LETTER TO ME. Needless to say I was devastated. Don't bring anything to these scumbags. Rich's in Belleville has been there forever and they are trustworthy. Lost my ticket once and they gave me my stuff back after showing my license. If I could give negative stars to perfect pawn I would. Glad this place went out of business the other locations should as well. read more

Their sign outside is misleading that they give cash for everything. I brought in an $80 newly purchased game and he said they couldn't sell it. The shop is very small with few items in it which no one around here would buy. I don't know many people around here buying old cash registers, etc. I predict they'll be out of business soon. read more

Be very VERY careful if you are getting a loan with these people. Not only are they very rude and low ball you on the price of your item but apparently they only pawn certain things but no where in the store does it say what those things are. If your piece doesn't fit their standard as a pawnable item then they put you in what's called a "buy back program" which means they sell your item back to you for $30 more + 7% sales tax where a normal pawn loan in NJ only runs you a 4.5% interest rate on top of the money you borrowed. They do this to take advantage of unknowing customers so they sign the contract and that way they can get around NJ state law. It would be one thing if this policy was posted clearly so the customer could see what they accept for pawn and what they do not and then stating that they offer a "buy back" program for whatever items they don't give out a pawn loan for but they don't, and they sneak it past you without mentioning or explaining the terms. I do take fault because without realizing I wasn't getting a standard pawn loan, i signed the contract and by doing that agrees to their insane terms but I can't help but feel that I was taken advantage of and schemed through the process. read more

After doing business with them for awhile I believed I could trust them. I was in for a HUGE surprise. We were in the process of an unexpected move so i had to pack my family and over 30 years of possessions to move within 2 weeks. I'm just trying to give you some background here. I realized I was late in making my payment on my ring. I called and spoke to Leo who said not to worry just come in and make a payment and all would be ok. I took him at his word. When I called back to find out what was owed in full so I could get my ring back, I was told "It's gone". When I said what do you mean it's gone?!? I was informed I could not retrieve my ring. No follow up, no ok we'll try to help. NOTHING. It's been over a year since this happened and I still can't talk about it. I trusted them and they lied to me that it would be ok. The least they could have done was explain to me when i originally called that if I didn't pay by a certain date, I would forfeit my ring. I was never told anything like that. I blame myself for being so naive and believing that they were honest people. They sure got a great deal from me. I won't even say how much they "loaned" me for what they received because I'm too embarrassed to say. Take my advice. Run away from these people. They are in business to rip you off. It's disgusting what they did to me. In the end I have to let karma sort it out. However, I was desperate for money at the time and had no other options. In the end all I can say is I can look myself in the mirror every day and know I've never hurt anyone the way they took advantage of me. Someday they will know how it feels to have what they did to me done to them and I hope they remember my naive face. Thieves, the whole lot of them. Heck of an update. I had a very good experience with Perfect Pawn, and I think my experience was better than some of the people who left bad reviews here because I read the contract and thus I understood the terms. If you do this, you'll be fine. For instance, I took a 90 day loan and when the ticket said "Maturity Date November 29," I knew what that meant . That is to say, I had to pay the loan or get in touch with them to renew the loan, or they could keep my jewelry and resell it. Since I understood those clearly stated written terms, I was sure to stay on top of this and called them on the maturity date to let them know I did not yet have the money to pay my loan. When I pawned the jewelry, I dealt with an employee, but this time I asked to talk to the owner, Brian. I explained that I was deeply ashamed at having to pawn things for loans, but that I had recently contracted a devastating illness and was on disability (which, let me tell you, means one is on a very limited income). He was very empathetic and said that of course he would not sell my jewelry and, moreover, he had no problem renewing the loan for another 90 days until I got on my feet. After our phone conversation, I went to Perfect Pawn to renew my ticket and met Brian in person, shook hands, and made a nice connection with him because, well, he is a nice guy. He wishes his customers no ill will and understands that people only pawn possessions because they've fallen on hard times (ie, in my case I became disabled). My impression is that he wants to be decent to his customers, while at the same time he is in the business of giving loans for interest. You must pay the interest and he is honest about stating those terms. If you abide by the terms, he will treat you right. In short, I found him to be fair and trustworthy -- which are 2 words we do not ordinarily associate with pawn shops, but in this case I do. Perfect Pawn is a fair and trustworthy business. read more

I'd like to start off my review stating that I initially reached out and spoken with an "Alex," of whom I've yet to meet to date. I called in regarding whether or not they'd be interested in my Professional Package Selfie Station - Photo Booth. Alex, immediately knew exactly; what I was referring to and expressed interest. However, he quickly followed by stating that he could not discuss an offer over the phone and would need to see the product in person. I was both hesitant and reluctant, but I agreed to traveling from my town (a half hour away from this location); after packing up a 5'foot plus machine that easily weighs 100lbs and all of the additional equipment, by myself. I called in the following morning to ensure that Alex would be at the pawn shop from open to close as my availability wasn't guaranteed at a specific time; that said, Alex assured me that he could be seen from open too close. I also re-confirmed his interest, etc. Alex then reiterated that he was interested and that they would offer me the most "Fair," figure possible. Alex was aware that the product I was bringing in is valued at $12,995.00 brand new from the company. However, my product would still be considered "Used" because it was out of its original packaging. Although, never used before and all additional packaging was still, in its original packaging (aside from boxes). It was a cold and rainy evening, but my friend and I took a drive there to see who thought would be Alex and that I would successfully get the Selfie Station off my hands. Turns out, at 5:30PM when we arrived; Alex had allegedly left for the evening (store closed at 7PM). Immediately turned off by that; we were greeted by an older gentleman whom I did not get the name of and a "Leo." Leo, is who took over from there and that's when the entire potential transaction went southward. As if removing the Selfie Station and all of my equipment from my car during that kind of weather with my friend wasn't bad enough; Leo, immediately started to attempt to pry apart at the product, but at the same time, compliment it. Which, to us; made absolutely no, sense. I wasn't firm on an amount to $ell the product for and I'm gathering that's where I initially started to clearly, attempt to be taken advantage of by Leo and the situation at hand, but little did Leo know; I would never, allow that to be the case and especially not with a friend in my corner. Leo, started to pull up examples online of what "Sold" and what's "For Sale," in comparison to mine. He made the mistake of comparing a Selfie Station (non-Professional Package); that was sold at $1,900.00 because it had a "Case." He attempted to use that against me, but Selfie Station the company themselves; does not even make/offer a "Case" and assured me that was an after market product. If that wasn't bad enough; Leo, started to compare "Refrigerators," of which depreciate over time and do not have the ability to make you money, too my Professional Package Selfie Station as well because he "Alleged," he was using them as an example for "Moving product purposes," but that didn't make any sense what so ever either because they're two entirely different products with two entirely different markets. In the end, I'd finally come up with a figure to preset to him because at that point I'd had enough of the shenanigans and requested $4,000.00; he laughed, literally, aloud and stated "Never." He then countered my offer and offered me a DISRESPECTFUL, $1,000.00, for everything! At that point; I couldn't and wouldn't entertain any further discussions with him inside of the pawn shop because he clearly could not be taken seriously and I wasn't about to be made a mockery of. Then, too make matters worse; as I was gathering my things to repack my car, he then starts offering me a "Loaning program," where it would be on consignment with an option too buy it back and that was if I "Really, needed the money." Offended as could be; Leo, knew I wasn't someone in that position just by looking at me, seeing the car I drove, etc. That said, I took that as adding insult too injury because I didn't bite the bait to be CONNED. Needless to say, I did not and wouldn't offer my business; nor would I suggest anyone else entertains this establishment with theirs either. Well let's start off with the fact the staff has no consideration what so ever. They see your stuff and automatically make a quick assumption as to a price without actually looking into stuff throughly. What pisses me off if the fact that you visit the location before with minimal stuff and get a high amount but when you come with more stuff you get jack shit. So explain to me why when you bring minimal stuff you get a chance of more but when you bring more you get nothing. And as far as honest and curtious they definitely are. I needed help with my item and not only did they hold on to it for me but didn't charge me a penny for the extra week. Nothing. I can't complain about perfect pawn. I had to pawn my ring for a little while because of hard times. I couldn't get it back in time and they allowed me to extend the loan, which I did. They also sent me a letter when it was getting close to the maturity date. I have since gotten back my ring and I didn't have a hard time at all. I was at the US mint many years ago and purchased an uncut sheet of sixteen two dollar bills Let's do the math..16 two dollar bills equal $32.00 plus a acrylic frame that cost $25.00 for a total of $57.00. The idiot behind the counter at perfect pawn asked me how much I wanted for it. I told him I'll take $40 just because I was too lazy to get a scissor and cut the two dollar bills apart. He went on the computer and looked at eBay and said to me I'll give you $20 for every thing. I said I'm going to give you $32 plus the acrylic frame and you'll give me $20 back. do I look stupid to you? I looked at the other guy sitting behind the counter and said to him do you understand what he's trying to do. He just looked at me what a dumb look on his face. I guess he couldn't do the math either. I also told him the frame cost $25. He looked at me and said it's worth $.18. Just really miserable arrogant people who shouldn't be in business. Maybe in the country where they are from, it's how they treat people and people like to be treated. Ok!! Let me first off tell you that I am 19 years old and the only reason I joined yelp today, is because I was so disgusted with "Perfect" Pawn. So, I drive out 20 miles to this location because of all the great reviews. I had no problem with any of the workers. ALL the workers were awesome except the old short guy with the glasses (the oldest worker there) who was taking a look at my gold. He calls him self the gold "specialist" So, he sees that I'm young and tries to take advantage thinking he can pull a fast one but turns out I caught the crook in his little game he tries to pull. I let him take a look at my 14KT WHITE GOLD CHAIN WEIGHING 2.5 GRAMS. He does what he has to do and immediately jumps to selling the chain so he can rip me the heck off. I tell him no, I would like to pawn it. He then he says I can't pawn it because my chain has to have a value of over 27 DOLLARS! HMM... last time I checked the top dollar for gold is 20-22$ Gram meaning my chain is worth well over 60$. Considering I come from a family of jewelers. My father is a jeweler, my cousins are jewelers, and my uncles are jewelers and he's standing there thinking I don't know anything about gold trying to PAY ME LESS THAN 10$ A GRAM!! I called him out on this and he replies saying "who's the gold specialist here?" We'll turns out I'm a jeweler my self. He got angry and I called him a crook and he called me a "piece of shi**" and told me to leave the store which I did. Very horrible experience and a waste of my time and gas. I went there because I lost my job and had professional Audio Visual crumpets which averaged at least a $150 a pair and up. I had a lot of 10+ and offered me $50 for all of them. If you're going into a pawnshop, chances are you're looking for a little bit of financial relief. Unfortunately, you won't get it here unless you have pure gold bars or a Rolex (even then, they'll offer you maybe a quarter of what it's worth). Before you take anything in there go on eBay and search for the item then sort from lowest price to highest. They will offer you half of the lowest value they can find and say definitively that's what it's worth. Unwilling to negotiate, it's there way or the highway, and they would let an extra $100 profit walk out the door if it meant giving you $10 extra on your item. Complete headache, complete nightmare. They take advantage of people in tough situations, hurting financially, and lowball them to the extreme. I would tell anyone that's thinking about going here to not waste their time and post whatever they're selling on eBay or Craigslist. read more
