I had some estate jewelry to sell, and had forgotten that I'd visited this establishment nearly a decade prior. Looking back at my old review, nothing has changed. They smile, shake your hand, and tell you what a great deal you're getting, all while paying you 5-10% less than you could get with a bit more effort 2 blocks north. GG&S has much nicer digs than the places I sold to on 47th, but I'd advise sellers to hold their nose and shop around. Better yet, have family to pass heirlooms down to and avoid having to deal with these places altogether. Similar to other customers who have left their reviews here, I was also given a range of possible prices to expect for my precious metal possessions in the phone, but when I arrived at Global, I also was offered a price lower than the range I had been previously quoted on the phone. It's a terrible thing to drag people in. Who knows how far people have to travel only to find out that they've been lied to. I definitely felt ripped off. When I reminded him of his own offer, he (actually one of his minion's) said, "Well, that's where we are." Honestly, this place was a mess from start to finish. The woman at the front desk literally looked shocked to see a Black woman walk in the door - like she couldn't believe I was there. Super awkward and unprofessional. Then the guy evaluating my jewelry tried to tell me my 18k gold necklace was only 10k. When I called him out on it, he was like "oh yeah, you're right, it's 18k." Seriously?? Shouldn't there be some kind of actual testing process instead of just guessing? He was also really careless with my jewelry - just tossing it around on the scale like it was junk. The whole thing felt rushed and sloppy. At the end, they threw out some random price that seemed like they just made it up on the spot. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth. The service was unprofessional, their evaluation process seemed sketchy, and they clearly don't know how to handle valuable items properly. Save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else. Everything was done meticulously and with a great turn around time. My wifes ring was due for stone and setting check re-dip and resizing. I contacted them and was accommodated immediately.
