Reflecting on my experience with Kathy, I should have paid closer attention to the warnings. Like others, I never received the promised AKC papers, and the whole situation always felt slightly off. My dog, who was supposed to stay toy poodle size, grew to 20 pounds at one point and faced a range of serious health issues, including diabetes and Cushing's disease. He had a tough, short life, and it breaks my heart to think of the struggles he faced. I miss and love him dearly, he was my son. While I'm relieved to hear her animals have since been seized, I strongly encourage others to adopt, not shop. Kathy is not someone I'd consider a trustworthy breeder. read more

Authorities just seized 275 malnourished and neglected dogs from a barn associated to this breeder. From the dogs they were able to save, "veterinarians found issues ranging from ear bites, infections, umbilical cord issues, a broken jaw, eyes popped out, fleas, matting, and more from inbreeding and neglect." They apparently moved a lot of the dogs before police arrived and were allowed to keep 20 nursing mothers and 80 puppies. So they are still in business. We just purchased a beautiful merle toy poodle from Kathy. He is everything she said he would be and more. The vet records and AKC registration papers came delivered with him as promised. Kathy doesn't always reply right away, as others have mentioned, but she delivers on her word. He arrived clean and even after a long flight, not even slightly shy. The delivery service she used was prompt and professional. He is clearly well socialized. Often times when puppies change locations they can develop an upset stomach or some loose stool. Not him.Not once. He is also clean in his crate, sleeping through the night without accidents. He is very clean and almost 100% potty trained in a matter of weeks. She is a puppy mill that charges boutique prices. Google both her name and her kennel name (perfect peks). Many of the dogs are inbreds. That is how you get the small sizes....by constantly inbreeding. Several generic issues show up that way too. I contacted her a couple of years ago not knowing about her unethical breeding practices. Thankfully, she didn't have what I was looking for, and I ended up going with someone else. Do not support these places. Research the breeder as hard as they should be researching you to make sure you're a good pet family. I wish authorities were not forced to leave behind so many dogs. I am blessed with two adorable, loving, spunky tiny toy poodles that are now 3 and 2-1/2 years old which we bought from Perfect Peks kennel. My neice also has one of Kathy's lovable fur baby poodles. We have never had any health problems or any adverse issues of any kind with our poodles nor their breeder. I want another precious peks poodle to add to my family. Do not buy a dog from this woman. This is a puppy mill, she needs to close her business. Look at all the one star reviews, shameful, despicable person to raise these puppies to scam people out of their hard earned money. My beloved Peke, now 7 years old has been through everything. Constant ear infections, two ruptured crucial ligaments both back legs requiring painful major surgery twice, arthritis in both hips since he was 3yrs old, testicals never dropped which required stomach surgery at a year to go in and find them, now he is blind, serious eye problems, allergies which requires a monthly shot and so much more. I purchased a shih tzu from Kathy in July 2019. I was looking for a imperial. I paid top dollar for her.($1400) She is now 7 months weighing in at 9 Pounds. She is beautiful and I wouldn't trade her for the world. However she is no where near Imperial. That being said, I asked Kathy several times to send me pictures of her. I would have to ask repeatedly before even getting a response. When I went to pick her up. I was not allowed inside. (red flag), She did bring out a sister to my dog that was much smaller and offered to let me swap. However the pup did not look healthy. Her hair was dirty and looked very thin. I do not think her dogs are kept in good living conditions. I heard several dogs barking through the fence. I have called and messaged her about my dogs papers. Perfect Peke Kennels is nothing more than a puppy mill. She breeds inferior dogs for high prices. She tells you they are all these things because that's what you want to hear, and it turns out to be the complete opposite. My Peke has had multiple issues since the first exam the day after I picked him up from the airport 4.5 yrs ago. He is now suffering greatly from a second leg now having a ruptured ligament. According to my surgeon that did the first leg, "this is very, very rare in small dogs", common in larger athletic type dogs. She is terrible to deal with and breeds for QUANTITY NOT QUALITY. No one can pump put that many QUALITY puppies! No reputable person would, it just isn't possible. Do not, I implore you, set yourself up for heartbreak. I cry every day seeing this little guy I love so much suffer as he does. Read my other review, and please don't get involved with her. Now we are at the point where putting him to sleep may be necessary. He's flat faced, going under is very difficult for these dogs, he's now been under 4 times because of various things he has had to have done because he is so poorly bred. My puppy has juvenile cataracts at only 3 years of age. She also had a umbilical hernia as a pup and her vet knew it. The puppy was supposed to be black then turned silver. Also there were problems with the AKC papers saying they couldn't confirm ancestry as stated. My mom bought a poodle from Kathy and she has now at 3 years old been diagnosed with Juvenile Cataracts, which is very hereditary and a consequence of bad breeding. I purchased a merle Miniature Poodle puppy in May 2017 from Perfect Pels Kennel. We came all the way from Missouri to pick him up. I told Kathy he would be a breeding male in my small program of Doodles. It was very important he was of breeding standard (good bite, no hernias, good joints, etc.), she sent a vet report and a health guarantee with him. The first day the vet opened when we got back, I took him for his puppy check. He was diagnosed with bilingual inguinal hernias. I was devastated because there was no way I could use this puppy in my program. I went to a second vet to get another opinion and they confirmed the same thing. I contacted Kathy and told her and asked if she would replace him. She told me to resell the puppy then I could buy another from her for the same price I sold him puppy for. Her contract stated she would replace the puppy, but she didn't offer. I told her she had another merle male on her website, but she said he was too small for me... We live 10 hours away and offered to come and switch out the puppies and she told me no to sell my puppy and I could get another one. After I kept asking, she then told me I caused the hernias because they weren't there when her vet checked him. It is almost impossible to cause inguinal hernias unless the puppy had been through a lot of trauma, which he hadn't.
