Do not patronize performance auto. I was stranded and needed a tow out of the mammoth scenic loop. Juan came in a Jeep (not a tow truck) and was immediately rude because I had no cell service and couldn't answer his calls (though AAA relayed this as well as a friends phone they could call and an exact description of my vehicle and location.) Juan insisted on testing the battery (it was fine, fuel pump clearly failed) and then left me stranded again in sub freezing weather to drive back and ask his boss if they could tow me. After 1hr Juan returned to inform me they couldn't help me at all. I pleaded for him to at least provide me a ride into town so I could get cell service and organize a tow. He refused. Somehow, autopower doesn't allow people in their vehicles...which makes you wonder how they tow anyone. They make them Uber? Fortunately I got in contact with the professionals at Shell in Lee Vining. They confirmed to me that Juan and autopower are notorious for being lazy and not taking on simple jobs. He even shared an anecdote of autopower refusing to help a stranded woman near the hot springs since they "just washed the trucks and don't want to get them dirty". FWIW Lee Vining shell towed me no problem, let me ride in the truck and helped recommend nearby repair shops. Good to see some businesses still care about service. Avoid autopower at all costs. Do not go to this garage!!!! This was the worst experience anyone could imagine when dropping their car at a garage. I dropped my car at this shop in early February, I called after 3 weeks to get an update and see when it would be done, I asked him if it would be ready for the 14th of march, Juan (the terrible owner) guaranteed me it would be. After not hearing from them I began showing up a few days before to see how it was coming along, he got angry and rude but assured it would be ready. On the afternoon of the 14th, I get my car and he assured me everything was fine, I drove it for about 15 minutes, when the overheating engine light came on. I stopped at a garage to see what happened. This garage never change my radiator or filled my coolant fluid!!!!!! After they had CHARGED ME for it. After arguing with them and waiting for over two hours they came to pick the car and said they would fix it all. On the 23rd of March I finally hear back from them (after they avoided my multiple phone calls), he inform me that my car was ready and that he had driving it to test it. But then send me a text asking for bogus charges, which I said I would not pay. He threatened me after that. So I went to the local police station, where I was lucky enough to run into a police officer who said to have had his car there for over 6 months and he wanted to go check it out himself. Once we arrived there they dropped the charges. I looked at the car, they had changed the radiator this time. But still told me that my car was good. But as a result of their first (of multiple) lie my engine was now flooded with coolant fluid. I filled a report with BAR in order to put some pressure on them. Juan is communicative and responsive, as well as kind and understanding. I was spaced out and managed to scrape against a concrete pole, removing my front bumper. Juan came out to tow the car; I was still pretty upset and he was so kind and reassuring. I then had to leave my car in Mammoth while I returned to the Bay Area in a rental. Juan kept me updated along the way. Yes, it can take a while for repairs, but that's not his fault; he has to drive to Nevada to pick up the parts. He worked well with my insurance and ultimately, I got my car back, looking great. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE i would give this place negative stars if I could. I've had some great experiences with mechanics but not this place. They are dishonest, slow, and incompetent. It took them 5 weeks to repair some pretty minor front end damage, and they blamed this on insurance, even though the insurance process took less than a week to issue payment and all supplements. Every time I called, they'd either ignore me, or blow me off, saying they were 'waiting for parts'. When they said my truck was finally 'ready', they took over an hour to get to the shop, and it wasn't even ready! My skid plate wasn't attached, the back of my truck was full of garbage and old parts, and they had my transmission hooked up COMPLETELY WRONG. They blamed this on me having some very simple aftermarket parts installed (an auxiliary transmission cooler) but even if they didn't reinstall the cooler, it was still wrong! They completely bypassed the stock trans cooler as well as the auxiliary cooler, meaning my transmission would overheat if I wouldn't have caught the mistake. I had to crawl under the truck with them and point out the mistakes. This is when it came out that they don't do any of the mechanical work themselves, but rather have some dude that works at the gas station do it after hours. I guess this explains why it was done completely wrong and risked RUINING my transmission. I attached photos of how they had it set up( photo 1). those lines are supposed to run through the trans cooler, not looped back to itself! When I came back the next day to pick up my truck, I had to wait another hour for them to show up, and one of the hoses looked like it was about to fall off! ( photo 2). DO NOT COME HERE! The worst auto body shop I've ever used and I would of given them 0 stars if I could!!!! They supposedly fixed my car after a couple of accidents that I was involved in in Mammoth Lakes, CA. I didn't know until I really looked closer and under the car that they did a horrible job. I moved from Mammoth Lakes, CA before Performance AutoBody finished working on my car, so after they had my car for a total of 5 months I finally picked it up. I took my car to a 5 star AAA rated auto body shop in the Los Angeles City area because I wanted to get these issues fixed. To fix the horrible job they did cost me over $1,300!!!! Don't use them even if you need to go to Bishop, CA to get your car fixed!!! It's worth the 80 minute round trip drive!!! read more

I got my 4x4 too deep and stuck in the snow, too far for AAA to come tow me out. It was evening already on a Saturday so I had to leave my truck and get a cab ride home. I called, Juan answered right away, and said we can get started first thing in the morning. Sunday AM, they picked me up at 7:30 AM, they got my truck pulled out, and I was back home by 8:30 AM. DO NOT EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS SHOP!!! i took my car here after being involved in an accident, my insurance tried contacting them but they told me "we have not received their call" After my insurance decided to total the vehicle and not repair it, the shop decided to take it apart themselves, not contact me about it. I went there a day after my car was totaled to grab some things. i talked to the people who were there and asked if it was okay that i leave my car here because i have to go out of town, or if i should move it. they told me it was fine, no problem to leave it there. Fast forward 4 weeks after getting a new car and coming home. i go to the shop to pick up the car and they tried charging me $5500.00 for storage fees, and 3 DAYS WORTH OF LABOR TO REMOVE A BUMPER AND FENDER. also would not even give me access to the car. After talking to several other shop owners i was told they did not follow all the laws they were supposed to, and to not let them do this to me. I then thought i should contact the BAR and several people told me this is my best option. i contacted the BAR, the bar informed me that they did in fact break several laws(civil codes) regarding the process they need to follow to do work, or charge me for work and storage fees. after two and a half weeks of trying to get my car back, the BAR finally got it back for me!
