Very traditional Romano restaurant, lovely carciofi and carbonara!!! Recommend! The pajata is not good as expected. One reason why they are so famous among the locals, is they offer very classic Roman dishes more than trippa and cota, they even have all the lamb organ dishes, which is only available during Easter normally. Rare dishes already now in Rome! more details on my blog: https://www.gustobeats.com/best-places-to-eat-in-rome-for-a-3-day-rome-itinerary/

Est since 1911. Just one of the best classic Roman cuisine ristorante in Rome. Rich red with meaty flavors. We enjoyed the food and the warm/cozy environment. Our waiter was "Valerio;" and has been there for 22 years. He advised, recommended, and gave us a few laughs. Wonderful dinner place after a long day of walking. Hope you will enjoy! Don't forget the vino!

We had dinner at this pleasant and welcoming restaurant, just off of the Aventine hill. They seated us, despite the lack of a reservation. This seemed like a lucky break, as most tables were full. The lively crowd was mostly local, (always a good sign) although we did meet a nice expat couple who were a font of knowledge about the whole region. For the first course, we split the oxtail ragu. The meat was rich and each bite contains an explosion of flavor. For my main, I had the roast lamb. (Which is accompanied by potatoes.) The lamb has crispy skin. There was not quite as much meat as I was expecting. The dish was quite tasty.

One of my favorite, most unpretentious with exceptionally great food restaurants in Rome.

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming,…read moreand the staff truly elevate the meal by offering samples throughout the evening and creating a friendly, lively mood. The food was AMAZING. My family and I started with the prosciutto and buffalo goat cheese served with oil and pepper, which was my favorite part of the entire meal. We also ordered a pretty good vegetable lasagna, a chicken dish with a delicious sauce, and two gnocchi dishes, including a carbonara-style one. Everything came out quickly, and there were unique items displayed around the restaurant that you could try and buy, which made the experience even more fun. We were so full from the appetizer that we only ate about half of the gnocchi. The owner noticed and kindly refunded those dishes, saying we should not pay for something we barely touched. That level of thoughtfulness is rare and left a huge impression on us. Overall, Masto is an amazing restaurant with fantastic food, quick service, and some of the kindest staff you will ever meet. I would DEFINITELY recommend it to anyone visiting Rome.

We arrived as soon as they opened, and the Chef was very friendly and offered some samples of cheese including his burrata, which was incredible! Everything we sampled was delicious! We felt so special because we were the only ones there when it opened and it felt like we had a personal chef! The blueberry risotto and pasta were worth the walk over here! Loved this place! The ambiance was incredible!

FOOD - Fresh, well-seasoned, tasty, enough so that everyone was stuffed by the time starters and entrees had come and gone ... and a couple of us still found room for excellent desserts. We had started with limoncello spritzes, which cooled us off nicely. A liter of the house red was perfect accompaniment for the food. SERVICE - We arrived almost a half-hour before our reservation time, and they didn't bat an eyelash. Our waiter was friendly, helpful, engaging, and attentive. Good job. AMBIANCE - Nice brick and stone interior, lending a sense of antiquities and class. NET-NET - I would come back here at the drop of a hat. It wasn't cheap, but more than worth it for what we got.

Both were every bit as incredible as we remembered: the pasta rich and full of flavor with pecorino and guanciale, and the pig perfectly tender and juicy with that irresistible crispy skin. Yumm! We started with the Crostino N'Duja, which was rustic, spicy, and the perfect way to kick off the meal. We also ordered a charcuterie plate. To finish, the lemon torte was bright, refreshing, and surprisingly, not too tart. It was exactly just the way we like it. Kevin's service was outstanding--warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful, which made the celebration feel even more special. We were given a couple of shots and a special cookie for my hub's birthday and after learning I am Filipino, he also offered us shots of his own special Ube liqueur. La Tavernaccia has truly become one of our favorite places in Rome, and we already can't wait to come back again to try something new that Kevin highly recommended - the Roasted Veal.
