This food was AMAZING! Genuine, authentic neighborhood restaurant that has DELICIOUS pasta and great service. The owner is SUPER friendly and even came out to take shots with us! Great conversation too and his English is great! Will definitely be back when I'm in the area.

First time in Rome... finishing up a 12 course New Years feast. I'm almost finished with what is the BEST crème brûlée I have ever had. Truthfully I would fly back here from the US just to have this again. The entire staff treated us like family and being New Years eve, champagne & fireworks ended a truly memorable evening. Best New Year's Eve dinner ever!

The pasta we made and Christian's special summer sauce

Our family was taken to burro & sugo for a cooking class with Christian after a walking tour at the Spanish square with Sara which we booked through viator. Christian treated us like family and was very accommodating. Christian showed us how to make pasta then took us back to the kitchen to show us how he makes the rest of the meal. The food was beyond delicious, highly recommend to get away from tourist area and enjoy this wonderful restaurant/experience. Sara was our tour guide who provided us with great hospitality and also helped with cooking class. She went above and beyond to help accommodate our needs.

This restaurant was by far my favorite in Italy. I had a few meals in Italy and nothing can quite measure up to this. We tried the pappardelle with wildbear sauce continued with the pizza Margherita, and ended with such a dessert delicacy, the kiss mousse. This was my first time in Italy and fell in love with the food because of this place! Earlier that day I had a pizza in another location and I was quite disappointed but trying the pizza Margherita here made me change my mind about Italian pizza :) The staff was really friendly as well and the owner, Christian. They were very helpful with the menu and stopped by the table a few times to make sure we had everything we needed. The environment felt great and I remember thinking this is what being in Italy is suppose to feel like. All these delicious combinations of ingredients in my mouth as my friend and I listened to the music and enjoyed our first real dinner. Highly recommend this place! And don't forget to end with the kiss mousse, I promise it won't disappoint. Bon appetit!

Very nice restaurant and hospitable owner! I really enjoy their service and food! We went there for lunch and the owner introduced us a lunch meal set, including starter, two dishes, and one coffee. Only 8 euros!!!! Very nice price! Much better than those restaurants in Spanish steps! Highly recommended!

The only English we found :)

This was...is since I'm still here...such an experience. Not speaking any Italian made this so incredibly instructing, frustrating...but actually quite fun! It took nearly 30 minutes just to place our orders because of the misunderstandings between languages. Once we got that down they gave us wifi, beer and free sangria...so I had to write a review on the spot. The food was authentic, fast and fresh. The bruschetta is a must try. The ambiance is the perfect place to experience true Italian culture. I was even tempted to ask other customers if they speak English to make this even more fun. Overall this place had good vibes...even with the language barriers. If you're traveling around in Rome make sure to stop by. ...and just a side note. Make sure you communicate well to a taxi driver. Our guy went all over the place because he didn't understand then tried to charge is €23 to what should have been 2 miles.

First time eating Italian food in Italy. The seafood dishes were to die for and the owner of the restaurant was very kind and inviting. He walked us through the entire menu and recommended us options based on our personal tastes. The mussels and chocolate moose are a must!

I don't know where to begin. We have eaten here three times, and each time was remarkable! The staff is attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and always engaging! The ambiance is inviting, and there is music in the background creating a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. This, however, is all in preparation for the real star and the reason you're here: the food. No matter how you start, they bring you homemade sangria. I do suggest the house wine (red and white were very good and compliment the food), and the espresso (also very good). There are several choices on the menu, and is offered as a set. The carbonara is tremendous! I cannot say that enough! The orrechio and tagliatelle ai ragu is also memorable. The tagliatelle al salmone is amazing, and so is the fried calamari and shrimp. Still, that carbonara is so good!!! You can bet that when I return to Rome, it won't matter how far I am, I'll make it back here! Bravo!!

Quaint little cafe in Rome (Trattoriola)

This place is out of the way in a little street off of Leonardo da Vinci Road in the Ostiense area of Rome. The chef is from Naples so the cuisine has a distinct napolitano twist. There are set menus of very reasonable prices that you have to choose carefully to suit your tastes. The Risotto with Truffles is a must taste and the dolci that looks like creme brûlée is good too!

Between San Paolo and Garbatella areas, this small restaurant combines the familiar atmosphere with the quality of local food and affordable prices. With a €6 or €8 menu for lunch time, and a €17 (meat) or €21 (fish) menu for dinner, you will walk out full and satisfied. The menus include entries, pasta, a main course, and a home-made dessert, but I recommend to add the home-made limoncello which is simply delicious. Every once in a while there are also events, such as the "dark dinner" to enjoy with lights off while served by a group of blind waiters: something that has to be tried at least once!

Branzino... A little fishy but ok

Lively and friendly local spot for dinner. Staff was helpful, though quite busy so a bit delayed at points. Food was very good. I would recommend to anyone looking for a good local meal. Decent value as well

Enter American tourist. Pizza ala mode. Or at least just pizza, Roma style…read more I spotted this Pizza joint by chance while on my way to my bed and breakfast digs on Via Costa. It just so happened that this particular pizza place was about a block away and near by the Red di Roma Metro train station anyway. I caught on fast that Roma was filled with pizza places and your fair stare of brasseries, as well as small mom and pop restaurants. It's a mix of the old and new, keeping with tradition with commerce at your fingertips. I am glad that I stopped here, as the dude at the counter understood some rudimentary English to help me with my lunch. "This one and that one" I would point to the pizza in the display case, maneuvering my very limited Italian to just my broken English phrases. The use of "credit" was very useful, as this place only takes cash. This Pizza joint is primarily a take away place. There are some seating areas inside the restaurant, but not much. Not much at all really. Best bet would be to do take away and have these pizza slices at your own leisure. One slice, which was cut into two smaller chunks fetched about €4.00, which I thought was reasonable. The area is a fast paced and high traffic area, any parking you may have had is gone. The guy at the counter was somewhat understanding, as he noticed my English wasn't terribly bad, but knew I wasn't a local Italian either. The exchange was mutually beneficial and it provided me a glimpse of how local Roma people lived, played and worked on a daily basis. I even went to the neighborhood park across the street from the pizza place to relax and wait for the bed and breakfast owner to arrive, while eating my pizza for late lunch / early dinner on day one of my Roma visit. People watching, relaxing, and just being in the moment gives a fresh perspective on life. The pizza was quite different than what we have in the states. For starters, they cut the pizza in rectangles. We Americans do it primarily in triangles and the entire pizza is shaped in a circle. Quite interesting to be in the birthplace of the pizza and the original shape was a rectangle! While this experience at this Pizza place was rather short, it was good and the pizza was delicious, although it seemed to borderline good and average. Maybe I was just hungry after a morning of flying and traveling, but it was good to have dug into those slices of pizza when I did. Made me feel grateful to have something rather than nothing, while on vacation. I guess the dude at the counter took pity on me, as he looked me up and down. Sure, whatever works, I guess! Support local! B
