Unfortunately, I've had to change my 5 star review to a 2 star review. The staff there are wonderful, but the finance piece of the business is a mess. It has been this way since I started working with them a few years ago. They've been audited and I had to be refunded money they overcharged and now recently my insurance claims have been charged differently because they've changed the way they bill medication management appointments. While I don't believe they're able to control this, they did tell me that the copay would remain $10; it has not remained the same and is $80 and I am now having to back pay for all appointments up to this point for appointments that I was told would for sure be a $10 copay. If they were able to get their finance situation under control I would absolutely recommend them, but constant uncertainty about how you're being charged is not okay. Well, how can you review some business you never went to, I hear you say? I was referred to this counseling by my VA provider, meaning the VA would pay for it Waited for several weeks to a month after I received a VA payment authorization letter to go to Perkins. But apparently, Perkins couldn't be bothered to reach out to this patient to schedule an appointment that they were guaranteed to get paid for. And is it a bad sign that whenever you call anyone there from the front desk up, your call goes straight to voice mail? I was also informed that Perkins needed to get access to my VA medical records to see Mr. Three problems with that: A) the VA takes a VERY long time to share medical records with any outside provider. B) You can only look at my Mental Health VA records Perkins as you have zero need to see any non mental medical issues I have had C) Maybe if you guys EVER called me, I could authorize you to access my records and find out why you need to see them and sign an authorization form so you can. But thank you, Perkins, for showing the quality of your customer service as a potential paid for customer, so I wouldn't have to find out that there is no customer service as an actual patient. So, for all those people who tell service connected disabled vets, thank you for your service. Maybe you can provide me with some (customer) service in return? Or maybe not.... read more

I have been going to Perkins for about 4-5 years. I saw Dr Robin Exum-Calhun. Sadly, because I moved to another city, I had to stop seeing her. Dr Robbin has a gentle demeanor when needed, and will gentaly challange you when needed. She feels like your friend but never unprofessional. She genuinely cares about her clients. She is a Christian. When she feels talking about God and the scriptures will help add clarity to a situation, she talks about God. However I know she is respectful of other oppinions. She is traned in EMDR which has made a difference in my treatment. The staff is friendly, and the waiting area is welcoming and has a coffee and tea bar. There is also a small room where kids can play. Only negative is I can't go there anymore. read more

In the decade that I've received counseling, I've never felt more comfortable and satisfied with a therapy session. Karen is basically a saint, I will follow her wherever she goes if she ever decided to leave. I am so happy with her that when my sister expressed an interest in talking to someone, I immediately asked for a reference and was told Derek is also fantastic and in the same practice. My sister is also over the moon with Derek so I think it's safe to assume that Perkins has a terrific staff. read more
