So, this Perkins is pretty great. I mean it's like most other Perkins, but I like the people that work there a lot. The other night, a group of my friends and I left Fat Daddy's when it closed and then wanted to go somewhere and play board games, but we knew we'd be too loud for any of our houses so we were trying to decide where to go at 2 in the morning. This restaurant has consistently disappointed us. Every time we've visited, we've been subjected to a long wait, often an hour or more, without any communication from the staff. We've watched employees come to the counter to count money or collect payments from other customers, only to disappear into the back without a word, clearly avoiding eye contact. We've even caught a glimpse of an employee walking back and forth in the kitchen, seemingly doing nothing, while another employee conversed with them. Despite these repeated delays, the staff never bothered to inform us of the wait time. When a customer at another table paid, an employee finally came out to assist her. However, the customer politely informed her that they had been waiting longer than she had. My husband then mentioned that we were there to order takeout, but the employee simply replied that we were on a wait and that it would take a while. She didn't even look up from the register as she spoke. Frustrated and exasperated, I left the restaurant without a word. Despite giving this place numerous chances, the staff's consistently poor service has made it clear that we won't be returning. read more

Do not eat here! They are very slow, and they always say, we are short-staffed, what exactly makes people not want to work there??? They have also raised the prices very high, for mediocre food at best! They also have a server named Jerry who is very incompetent, cannot seem to handle a few tables at a time, and always messes up the order! If zero rating was an option I would have chose zero. I have never entered a restaurant that smelled so bad in my entire life. How can anyone walk into this place and not smell the mold, mildew and whatever is creating that nauseating odor. Do they not have a Health Department in Alexandria Minnesota? this place has terrible service it took 25 mins in line to just take 45 mins for my food to come to my table.The servers are absolutely nice but everyone else is very rude,my food on the other hand was freezing cold! Unfortunately it was the worst omelet I've ever had. Tasted terrible. Ham and eggs tasted old. Tasted almost like it sat under a heat lamp all day and dumped all the old leftover ham that was sitting out from the morning on it. Hashbrowns were ok. I was there for evening meal. First time i never finshed my meal at perkins, i choked it down because i knew i had to pay for it and i was hungry and not going to a fast food joint and pay again. I always would look forward to eating there, but not anytime soon. It appears they might have some staffing issues, but it's no excuse for bad food and long wait times for seating and to pay. One gal waited over 15 min. to pay. I kept patronizing through the pandemic with togo orders. I did leave a tip but i shouldn't have. read more

If you're anything but white please save yourself the trouble. We waited 30 mins for a party of 2, and another party of 2 came in and waited 5 minutes. They got sat before us I had to mention to the lady that she skipped us and then got a " Yours is coming up" in the most condensing tone ever. The waitress was rude as heck too! My daughter and I walk in and the restaurant is nearly deserted - at most half a dozen booths and tables occupied. Noticed several people sitting on the lobby benches, which I thought was a bit odd. The crowd was kind of frightening - including some punk kids who had a phone conversation with their mothers - and let me tell you - the way he talked to his mother - probably won't be long before he's calling her asking for a bail out. We MAY have walked in at shift change, there were several employees wandering around with what appeared to be no real purpose, three hostesses at the kiosk having intent conversation. I suspect two of them were new. When they broke to seat a family, no one made eye contact with us. Two added to the number of people wandering without purpose, and the remaining host walked by several minutes later; mumbling that she would get to us in a bit. We ended up, after visiting with another party waiting (for 20 minutes and counting) to be seated, leaving and going to the Mom-and-Pop Mexican restaurant a few doors down and getting good service and good food. read more

This wasn't a good experience for me and my wife. We came around 12:00 p.m. to eat and right away when we got there, there was a woman employee smoking and she seemed a little rude. My wife was very mad about that but I told her it was nothing. But then we got inside and we realized it was pretty busy and it seemed like she could come in and help because there was only 3 servers and people waiting to pay I believe. We then ate the food which was delicious but then we needed some help to pay and the woman smoking came and helped us and then I realized she was the manager and her name was Chelsea I believe. This Perkins didn't even come close to meeting Perkins standards. I had a farm omelet with hash browns. First, I had enough hash browns to fill two forks and they were way undercooked. The omelet had no cheese and was basically filled with green peppers. My wife had pancakes that had a texture and taste of a grilled cardboard box and the sausage links were a meat from another planet. The people were friendly but service was not up to par and the room was PACKED with people, way to many people for the size of this place. Yet again a Perkins restaurant does not disappoint. After multiple disappointing visits to various Perkins restaurants, I have not willingly gone to one in years. Today, I had meet with friends there and it was the same old Perkins. The waitress was not friendly at all. She had 2 tables with a total of 7 people to care for and she did not once smile or change her monotone voice. Maybe it was a long shift or maybe she hates her job, either way, don't take it out on customers. The food was the same bland stuff I have grown to hate. I wish I could say this is a fluke but this is typical for nearly all Perkins I have ever been too. There have been a couple that were impressive in both service and food quality, but not here. This restaurant is very crowded, there are way too many seats and tables for the size of the dinning room, you feel like your in a sardine can. I ordered the California avocado eggs Benedict and was very excited about it. Until I cut into my first egg and I saw a THICK black hair in the middle of it. I proceeded to call over the hostess and she did not apologize for it at all. All she said was "I'll get that remade for you" and took it before I even had the chance to tell her I did not want it anymore. So I called her over again and told her I did not want that anymore than I would just take a piece of pie and once again she was away from the table before I could tell her what kind of pie I wanted. I ended up getting the heath pie which was delicious and they took both the pie and Benedict off the receipt but not once did they apologize or act like they cared that there was a hair in my food. read more

We waited 15 minutes for a table for 7 including 2 kids and 5 adults. We were finally escorted to a table and Heather took our order for drinks which she eventually delivered and then took our order for food. She disappeared for 50 minutes. My son went and asked for the manager and was told to speak to another waitress. Heather immediately came and refilled drinks with no explanation or apology. She again disappeared. After another 20 minutes I went and found the manager named Jeff and asked what the hell was going on since we had now waited an hour and 10 minutes. He didn't know. He never came to explain or apologize. We overheard them in the kitchen saying they had not started our order. We threw 10 dollars on the table for the drinks and as we left I told Jeff that we had to leave. I have no idea if the food was good or not. But it is a sure thing that the service was terrible. It is a very bad place to go to eat and one has to wonder if management is so careless about how they treat customers what short cuts have they taken with the food preparation and how safe is their food. read more
