We can here on a Sunday morning...there were 14 of us and they got us seated as quickly as they could. I'm not from the Midwest, nor am I familiar with Perkins chain but it's something very similar to a Denny's or an IHOP. The options were great, and the prices were very reasonable. The staff was friendly and pretty competent. The reason I removed a star: While the bathroom was fairly clean, it smelled absolutely horrendous (like raw sewage.) It smelled like that during our 40 minute wait for the table AND when we were leaving so I don't think it was an isolated incident. read more

I'm usually wary of chains, even if they aren't exactly national, but we wanted a hot breakfast for our big day of sightseeing so we drove to Great Bend to try out Perkins. We got there at the right time because it only took us about 5 min to get seated and when we left, there was a line out the door. The host was friendly and inviting and our server was fairly friendly. The way they section out servers was odd but this didn't really affect us. It odd how they expect you to know what you want the moment you sit down. Our server actually looked a bit shocked we didn't know what we wanted immediately. My bf says it must be a small town/Midwest thing because this happened to us wherever we went to eat. The food came out quickly and while it looked hastily thrown together, it tasted pretty good. My omelet toppings were bit burnt but I didn't mind the flavor so I kept eating. All in all, if coming through this way again, I would come back in to give Perkins another try. read more

Due to my limited income with being on Social Security, I don't eat out very often, but I decided to treat myself since it had been quite a while. I placed a to-go order at Perkins and was very much looking forward to my first out-of-home dining experience in a long time. When I picked up my order, the cashier staff person was helpful in making sure that my 20% first-time discount was honored, even though the barcode reader wouldn't work on the coupon that I had download, when I signed up on their app. Because my order was to go, I can't really comment on the cleanliness or ambience of the restaurant, as I only walked in the front door and picked up my order at the counter, but it looked nice. The same goes with the quality of their table service, since I did not dine in the restaurant. When I got my meal home and unwrapped it, I was unfortunately pretty disappointed and regretted my decision to spend more than I normally would have for dinner. I ordered their two pork chop dinner, which came with two side orders, but surprisingly no bread. With the pork chops, you do have the choice of having them regular, garlic or teriyaki glazed. Teriyaki is one of my favorite flavors, so that is the one I picked. My two side orders were asparagus and mashed potatoes. While placing the order, I was efficiently asked what kind of gravy I would like for the mashed potatoes and I chose cream gravy. For reference, I have included two photos of the order that I received when I unbagged it. While pretty thin, the pork chops were good sized and had a good taste, including the teriyaki glaze. However as you can see by the picture, they not only glazed the teriyaki pork chops, they glazed the mashed potatoes and the asparagus too, so I was not able to use the delicious-looking side of cream gravy ... and asparagus that should have tasted like asparagus, tasted like teriyaki asparagus. Also the side order of asparagus was really on the meager side, and quite over cooked, or had been pre-prepared and been sitting around quite a while. The restaurant wasn't busy when I picked up my order. I picked it up because I was only eating by myself, not because I was in a hurry. I would much rather have preferred freshly cooked asparagus. Pouring teriyaki glaze over the entire meal, and overcooking the asparagus are amateur mistakes, that could have easily been avoided. Altogether, a pretty disappointing experience, especially just based on receiving food and not even commenting on the restaurant itself, or any table service. Undecided on whether I will give it another try sometime. Unfortunately I don't have the income to eat out often. read more

Old home style American foods such as you'd find at a Dennys or IHOP. Can be quite busy at times. The prices are a little higher on some items but the foods are generally rich, filling and worth it. Be prepared for dessert! Having pie or taking pie they have a pie for everybody's flavor. read more

Overcharging seniors for smaller meals that are on the under $10 menu. Same item costs 1.29 higher for less food on the senior menu. Also charged $4 to substitute sausage for bacon on my husband's plate after saying it was ok to switch. Watch your receipt. They are gouging the elderly for sure and maybe you too. Not appreciative of them vacuuming by my table when I'm eating. Doesn't seem sanitary to put all the stuff on the floor in the air when customers are eating. read more

I popped over from the hotel next door for a slice of pie and a cup of coffee before calling it a nIght. I don't believe I have ever seen a prettier slice of pie, but unfortunately that was all it had going for it. Once I acquired a new spoon for my coffee as the one I was originally given had a piece of dried food stuck dead center in the middle of it, I bit into it with great expectations and all I I could taste was butter cream, which pretty much over rode everything else. The Best Western next door where I am staying gave me a free breakfast voucher for the Perkins, which I thought was going to be a nice way to start my day, but I'm thinking I may just take a pass on it at this point. read more

Almost got beat up at breakfast. Perkins does not practice any social distancing during the Covid pandemic. We spent 3 nights at their Best Western hotel which included breakfast at Perkins. They were using 1 table and 3 back-to-back booths in a large restaurant with dozens of empty tables throughout. When they seated me in between two other booths I commented "don't you practice social distancing here". The second time they seated a group close to me I moved then it happened again. The fourth time I felt some dude hitting my back in the booth directly 1' behind me. I was now angry and upset and not a Covid Nazi but not stupid and old enough to be high risk and asked my waitress what's wrong with this place seating everyone dangerously close to each other. The guy who slammed my back seating jumped up hollering at me to not speak to a woman like that and wanted to fight me in Perkins. (When can't men express displeasure to a female representative of a company - my waitress). I told him I did not want to fight him and he continued wanting to fight me. I told him I didn't appreciate Perkins seating arrangements and I told me I should have had breakfast at home, I said I did not have that choice that my home is 500 miles away. He persisted and I resisted with no Manager anywhere. No Manager to enforce any Covid Kansas Restaurant compliance or to control local goons trying to beat up an old man eating breakfast while traveling to see a medical specialist. Fearing for your safety from virus or thugs should never be part of your dining experience. None of Perkins staff intervened with this unhinged customer who could do me bodily harm and wanted to and then all of them cheered or clapped when I got up to leave, glad to see me gone. It was so crazy it was surreal to happen inside Perkins. The manic dude was so mad he left without eating. By Thursday they took my advice and blocked off every other table making fools of their crew and angry customers. read more

Ate here two nights in a row. Service was very good first night and OK second night. Food was good both nights but portion size on the meatloaf the second night was too small. Enjoyed an amazing breakfast off their new menu. The waitress recommended a strawberry waffle. This waffle was smothered with at least a dozens freshly cut and prepared strawberries topped with powder sugar. It was awesome. Another travel restaurant I like to stop at but most recent visit may have discouraged me from coming back. Food was delivered with bacon instead of the ordered sausage so instead of just taking bacon back she took bacon and French toast back. Then waitress says oh this goes over there. Three people in my area with food orders screwed up. When the manager finally brought my food out the sausage had literally been killed twice, it was horrible over cooked. Then went to pay out and had been there and ordered exact same meal the night before and it was $4 cheaper last night and I asked manager at cashier and showed her receipt from previous night and she said oh well you got the platter last night. I said I ordered the same thing why should it matter what you call the serving style? I also showed her a picture of the sausage and she said what's the matter too burnt for you? Sadly to top it off when I went to leave I held the door for two elderly couples and one of the gentlemen asked me how long did your food take ours was an hour and a half. Really have looked forward to eating here when I'm in town in the past. Hopefully they can get things turned around like they used to be and unfortunately probably need to start with that manager. She was very rude, obviously didn't care about what came out as far as food quality since she is the one who brought the sausage out and just seemed in general overwhelmed. Great family diner. I had the chicken fried steak and it was very good. It was tender and had plenty of black pepper with white gravy. I walked into a cute little restaurant and bakery, excited to try their food. The decor was very comforting, and we were sat right away. But once we ordered our waiter was scarce. Until our food and beverages came. The food was pretty tasty for the lower price. But my table ordered two things of fried pickles. Both came out so burnt, there was no more pickle inside the blackened breading. They crumbled as you picked them up, I was blown away that the chef even put them out for the waiter to bring to us. We let the waiter know and got new fried pickles. They were nice about it and took the burnt ones off our check. Overall they have good food, but slow service. read more
