Apparently they have an office policy that they implemented last January that says no patient can change doctors because it's seen as doctors stealing patients from other doctors in the practice. They even spoke with the doctor I said I didn't feel comfortable seeing again and the other female doctor about my situation and they decided that I had to keep the same doctor. I understand each office can have their own policies but this one seems a little extreme. Just a warning: Westcare Medical Primary Care places doctors ego's over patient's comfort.

All calls are directed to an answering service and they do not call back. If you have a billing issue, you can not get in touch with anyone. I had to dial the emergency prompt in order to get someone to call me back. Even at that, they don't call back. I went in for testing and they did not call me back for over two weeks with the results. The office is completely disorganized and I don't even trust them with my records so I'm leaving. I remember once coming in to see Dr. Hentek with a chest and sinus infection. She saw me, gave me a perscription and left the office. When she came back in the exam room, she noticed I was in pain and couldn't stand. She asked me about it and wrote me a perscription for that as well. . Dr. Hentek saw that I was in pain and treated me for that distress. I'm thankful for her genuine concern. I realized that it didn't occur to me to ask her about anything for my back because I'd been told that the pain would pass by another physician and that I should just take Alieve. I'm a person of color and as such, I've experienced doctors who are hesitant to perscribe pain medication so I subconsiously didn't ask even though I was in the doctor's office. I have changed general physicians though. I had a visit with Dr. Hentek after I'd lost a significant amount of weight 30+ lbs. Dr. Hentek made a comment to me about making an effort to loose more. I shared my regiment and told her about the results I'd had in the previous months and instead of suggesting alternate options she just told me about the negative effects of excess weight and told me to loose more. Of course I have some idea of the negative effects of excess weight otherwise I wouldn't have embarked on the effort I did to loose the weight I had. Physically the doctor is larger than I am so I felt she should be a little more sensitive and construct in offering feedback on weightloss. I was pretty insulted so I'm no longer seeing Dr. Hentek. Women if you're a size 14 or above; you might want to see another doctor.

Sitting and waiting, I've seen people who have co pays given special treatment and receptionists pressure clients for information on why they are attending and their diagnosis in front of the entire waiting room. This medical establishment doesn't respect anyone's time and seemingly anyones privacy. Just going is bound to give you high blood pressure. One last thing is if you are to comment on the long wait times you are told to come in earlier. Tried this my latest visit and still had to wait for a ridiculously long time. That is why I left, the incompetence of the staff, and their disregard for others time.

More importantly, Dr. Schechter is a rarity, a knowledgeable doctor who really cares about his patients. So many doctors make you feel like you are taking up their time and after 20 minutes you are out the door. With his gentle and clearly caring demeanor, he took his time to explain the tests and their results. For a small office, I was impressed at some of the very high tech equipment both for running the tests and for explaining the heart and its workings. It made me feel secure that I was getting cared for my a physician who was cutting edge with his knowledge but "old school" with a doctor who is a true healer and not just checking a list so that he can get reimbursed by insurance. Feeling very very lucky to be his patient.
