I came in for a haircut. I showed the hairdresser the picture, he only looked at it for once and we moved on from that. The hairdresser DID NOT ask how I would prefer my bangs to be (shorter/ longer) and just went on his own. Took my hair from the sides and trimmed them to make my bangs thicker, which looks horrendous and I didn't ask for it. The back of my hair was flat and too short. After I saw the the result I was just so sad and disappointed. Yes, I could've asked for him to fix it, but it's so short that I didn't want any more hair chopped off. I paid, tipped, and left. After that I couldn't go out without a hat now until my hair grows out longer seeing how ugly it is. I'm not calling out anyone's name, just disappointed. read more

I have been going to Personal Image for about a year now. I only see Abby and I will only see Abby! She is PHENOMENAL! She listens to what I want and I always leave impressed! It is great to see someone who loves their job and is truly passionate about it! Side note: this review is purely based on Abby. My partner scheduled me appts here after seeing a package online. I appreciated the hand sanitizer near the entrance. The facial was divine! My skin felt amazing afterwards! Highly recommend! My nails felt and looked lovely too. I'm very disappointed to report that Kelly, who we previously had such great experiences, "disinvited" my children from the salon. (At their last appointment, the 3-year-old was perfect -- which even she acknowledged -- but our 1-year-old got upset and cried. I felt bad and did everything I could to settle him down, but he's little and he desperately needed a haircut. We ended up leaving before she was even done, so it's not like we ignored the situation.) Getting a phone call while I was at work informing me that she "thought my kids would be more comfortable someplace else" was embarrassing and upsetting. The salon owner, however, was very gracious when I spoke with him and told me that my kids were most definitely welcome at the salon and that he did NOT feel the way Kelly talked to me was appropriate. He offered to make me an appointment with someone else there, but by then we already had one scheduled at Lockworx. I still go to Personal Image to see Nelli, but the whole situation with Kelly unfortunately left a bad taste in my mouth, and I don't feel as positive about this place as I did before. read more

My experience is almost exactly like E.F's above. This was my second bikini wax and my other experience was fantastic. However, my appointment with Nelli was rushed and uncomfortable. I went to her because of so many great reviews online. She said that we had to rush, because she had another appointment in 10 minutes. Umm... okay. I felt very rushed as she hurried and all I had to do was lie there. She was not very thorough with the oil afterward, I had to stop by Meijer and buy some on my way home. When I got home and checked my wax (because I was not able to check things out there because she was too concentrated on her next client and pushing me out), she had missed spots. There are maybe 1-2 dozen stray hairs in my bikini area that I can get with tweezers, but the 'brazilian' part of that was was NOT thorough at all. She seemed friendly, if she wasn't in such a hurry, but I really don't have a way of knowing either way. I will not be going back. If you are fine with sloppy, quick work and a bit of savings, I would recommend her, otherwise, I would spent another 10 read more

My mother had me late in life, and the poor old thing is now so old she can hardly move. "How about a haircut? "What" So my wife and I decided to bring her over to Personal Image. We made an early appointment, and because it was going to take time to get my mother ready, we got up at six, went to her home, and readied her. Hurray! Here we are at personal image. Get mother out, get her walker out, help her creep her way up the long ramp. What;s this? The receptionist greets us at the door: "Mr. so-and-so decided to do someone's color, so you'll have to reschedule". Felix, enraged: What?! It took us hours to get her ready. Receptionist: We can reschedule. Felix: No, and tell Mr so-and-so that he is a.... Well, you can imagine the rest. My wife arrived a few minutes later, and, I guess hoping to keep her as a customer, gave her some lame excuse why Mr so-and-so rescheduled. Needless to say, we will never return there. I can only hope that Mr. so-and-so's hands became permanently stained with the dye he was using that morning. Maybe blue or gangrene green. read more

My first experience to Personal Image was pleasant. I went in for a full set of Acrylic Nails and I was very Happy. I scheduled a 2 week appointment for a fill. I received a call canceling my appointment that Heather was not going to be there on my scheduled appointment for Saturday Nov-3-18 and needed to reschedule my appointment. When I went in for my appointment Heather and I were talking and she told me she worked that Saturday and didn't know why I was called to reschedule my appointment. The next day I had 2 chipped nails so I called the Salon back to see if Heather could get me back in to repair as I was leaving for vacation. She never returned my call so I called back the next day and the receptionist informed me that Heather didn't have any available time to fix my nails. She couldn't make any accommodations knowing that I was leaving. Nor did she offer to ask a co worker take the time to call me back. I had a mess going on, last place that cut my hair.... encore in Haslett with Haley was a total disaster.....I needed someone before Monday to fix this mess....I called this place after many tries at different salons and this nice guy assured me that Amanda could fix it.....I had total confidence in her after meeting with her she was awesome .......she said what the heck there is no rhyme or reason with this cut.....it was horrible..... but she fixed it .....I felt 100% better with it.....I was very pleased with her.....thank you Amanda, you made me smile ...,such a sweetheart she is See you in 6 weeks I'm already looking forward to it read more

I went to see Nelli in February of 2011, for my second-ever brazilian wax. I had a great first experience in another state, and was actually looking forward to it. I saw that she was recommended by a couple reviews of the spa, and I was new to town, so I took the chance. Nelli is WAY TOO PUNK ROCK! Nelli stayed in the room as I undressed, then threw my legs around as she ripped my hair out in less than 20 minutes. I had a lot of hair to rip out, also, which she commented on. She did not make me feel relaxed, and she seemed very rushed. Yeah, it was quick. I did not want quick, I wanted comfortable. She left wax on, also, which did not go away for days. And she missed spots. Overall, she made me feel bad. Not worth the money, and made me consider a home waxing kit. read more

I was looking for someplace new to get a manicure and chose this place because of its location near my home. Sadly, I can't report on the service because I didn't receive my service. I made an appointment with Brenda. When I arrived, the receptionist checked in with Brenda and I was told she was running about 10 minutes behind. I understand things happen, so I said it was no problem and sat down to wait. Well, 30 minutes later and Brenda was still at her station working on her previous appointment. Wow, I am so surprised to see the negative review of Kelly here. She has been cutting my family's hair for the past five years. That includes two children under the age of five. She has always done a great job with the adults and the kids. She goes out of her way to make sure that our kids are having a good time from the moment they come into her area. She knows how to joke around with them so that they are comfortable. As with the case with any child, they were both apprehensive when they got their first haircut but Kelly was fantastic about letting them sit on our lap, and taking it slow so that they were comfortable. It was clear to them from the beginning that she is a great professional and that they were in caring hands. My review is on Nelli only. She's done my eyebrows several times, and I agree, sometimes I feel rushed through. The last time however, my eyelid was burned; when I told her, she dismissed it. I happen to like Personal Image Salon but really wanted to respond to Alexis below even though it was a while ago. When I go to the salon I don't want to hear children crying. It's supposed to be a place to relax for PAYING ADULTS who go there for spa services. Good for Kelly for disinviting your kids. I'm going there again today and I sincerely hope there are no screaming, crying, tantrum, noisy running around kids when I'm there paying my hard-earned dollars for a pedi. I got my hair cut and dyed by Abby and she did an AMAZING job!! I have very dark hair and she dyed it blue going into purple. She took the time to help me figure out what would work for my hair and it came out beautiful!! She was very kind, and it was a great experience. EVERYONE should go to her especially if they want crazy colors in their hair!!! I moved out of state, but if I hadn't, I would go to Abby all the time for all my hair wants/needs!! I have been a client at Personal Image for the past 4 years, receiving services for my hair, pedicures and massages. I have ALWAYS been treated with such professionalism. Each employee brings their own personal flare and experience into the salon. Crystal does a great job with manicures and pedicures. She is so gentle and meticulous and with her added massage, it's a little piece of heaven. Her personality is is contagious and it won't be long before you consider her a friend. The pedicure room is the "HAPPENEN" place at the salon. Not only will you have a wonderful experience, but you will encounter the most charming clientele. As for my hair, Heidi's specialty is dealing with natural curl in whatever form that takes. Natural coloring and styles are just a few of her STRONG talents that are far too many to list but trust me, she's worth it! The owner Charles is a one of a kind. He runs the salon with a hands on managerial style. He has a strong sense of ethics and expects nothing less from his employees. I have to agree with other reviews, that sometimes the reception staff is less than ideal but once you work with a stylist, manicurist or have a massage, you won't be disappointed. Totally agree; my experience with Nelli left something to be desired. I just moved to the area and read all of the great reviews about the place, but the first encounter was awful..too fast, uncomforatble and I was sore for days after. I've had many waxes previously and was NEVER sore days after. I will not be going back; please spend the extra money, you'll be glad you did! read more

This is my second time visiting and my experience with Christine was not great. She is great at hair cuts. I came in to get some turquoise streaks out in my hair. She basically told me I was an idiot for wanting that. Should have been my first clue to get out of there. I let her talk me into getting blue highlights in my natural brunette hair. She warns me that it might not last long which I understood. However I offered to let her bleach my hair first. Surprise surprise it washed out in a day. Called back to complain and she said well I can't guarantee your color but you can come back in and pay $75 to have your hair lightened and dyed again. I had already spent over $100 for cut and color. I accepted at first and then called later to cancel as I realized that she wouldn't give me what I wanted in the first place which was turquoise streaks. Needs some advice in understanding client needs and expectations. read more
