I have been a loyal customer of Salon Red since early 2016. I have always been one to go the cheap and easy route of going to a Fantastic Sam's, Great Clips, etc. but the day I decided to try them out (they were located close to my work), I was like "Okay, I'm going here from now on. Totally worth it." Their first location was great- Very stylish and fun. Deandre was the first person I came in contact with and he's been my go-to ever since! SO friendly and he listened to exactly what I wanted and made it happen; all the while enjoying amazing conversation! Not only was he fun to talk to, but all of their other employees I came in contact with were always upbeat and fun! Their new location on Jolly is AMAZING. Remember how I mentioned that the first one was stylish and fun? Omg... 10X better! I still go get my hair done by Deandre regularly and I recently have taken advantage of other services that they provide including massages and facials. I'm excited to check out their eyelash extensions by Hannah next, because it looks fabulous. In regards to their pricing- SO reasonable. I had worked three jobs at one point just to make ends meet and was always worried about funds so for me to go from Fantastic Sam's and all of those other franchises, it was a no brainer. All in all- Great quality of service for a great price and it's way better than retail therapy in my mind. (And I'm a total shop-a-holic). I have lived in the Okemos area for many, many years and have finally found a hair stylist that I absolutely LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! He is at Salon Red - and his name is Deandre...beautiful name and an even more beautiful human being (seriously - he is gorgeous!) The first time I went in for a hair cut and color...and honest to goodness I came out looking and feeling like a new woman! And things just keep getting better and better every time I visit. Not only is Deandre highly skilled in what he does, but he listens carefully to what I'd like, and he takes the time to discuss his thoughts with me, then he goes off and mixes up his magic potions and next thing I know my hair looks AMAZING! He is gentle, efficient, funny, sweet, kind, extremely knowledgeable and oh my, I cannot tell you how fantastic I look and feel when he is finished. The prices are so reasonable compared to other salons in the Okemos area as well, and the time spent in Deandre's chair is truly like a visit to the therapist. You leave feeling refreshed, renewed and honestly cared about. This salon also has darling little tutus for children to wear when getting haircuts...and so much more. They go the extra mile to make their clients feel special. They are right on Jolly Road in the plaza by Woody's Oasis, just west of the intersection of Jolly Road and Okemos Road. I was recently recommended to go to this salon not too long ago from a friend of mine after I got tired of being unsatisfied with other salons in the Lansing area. But i have to say my first experience there was FANTASTIC! I called in and set an appointment and the phone service was great! The only thing that discharged me was the pricing being a little more then the salons i was used too but I'm here to tell you you get what you pay for! I was hooked up with a stylist named Amber. when I first got there I immediately loved the look of the salon! it was very clean, well decorated, it created a fun and friendly atmosphere. I told the stylist my past problems with salons not giving me the (look) I wanted so she showed me some pictures and I told her some ideas and thoughts and she went to work. Needless to say the customer service from her and the salon was amazing and I would recommend it to anyone!! read more

Let me just start by saying I have never had a bad experience with customer service any time I've been here, and I have been getting my hair cut here for a couple years now. Rather, the contrary has happened. I've only had good experiences when coming in for an appointment. I have always been greeted and asked if I wanted anything to drink before I went and sat down. On that note, I also wouldn't get my hair cut anywhere else. This is the only place in the area that can actually work with a guys hair. I've gone elsewhere and the cuts only ended up in my buzzing me head when I got home because they were too short to try and get cut again, and it wasn't at all what I was trying to get. I would not recommend this salon. I received gift certificates there for Christmas and used one for a manicure and pedicure right away. They did do a good job on everything except there was no massage included - and that is the most enjoyable part. She simply slapped on some lotion. Then, I realized my other gift certificate expired on Feb 1st, which seemed pretty quick since I only received it at the very end of December. I wanted to come in on Feb 2nd since it was open until 7 and on Monday Feb 1st they were only open until 5 so I couldn't make it in time after work. I called and asked if they would allow it and they were completely unapologetic and gave me a firm no. If my business were more important to them, they could have allowed it. I was looking for a new stylist, I was raised by a stylist and know exactly what I want. They set me up with someone that they said was really good with Thick hair. Now, I have enough hair for 3 people, so when I mean thick hair I really mean it. Anyways, I went in and explained I only wanted the ends cleaned up, beveled layers, and my bangs trimmed to my lips. The stylist (a guy) turned me around so that I could not see what he was doing, all of a sudden I hear rip. The rip noise was a razor going down my hair; I had specifically said no razor only thinning shears. I was pissed!! My hair was so thinned out that I could barely pull it up. Will never go back! I have been wanting to change my look and have been searching for the right place to do it. A friend suggested Salon Red. She said they have some new stylists there that are awesome. So I checked it out. My stylist was Jason, who said he was recently hired. He was amazing! I knew I wanted something different but wasn't sure what. He took his time and went over lots of cool things we could do. He was very professional! We finally chose a look that fit me and he went right to work! He took his time and made sure it was perfect. I went in for a cut and color with Laporcha (sorry I don't have her business card on me) She was amazing. She cut my hair exactly how I wanted it and when the color wasn't exactly what I wanted (for the record there was absolutely nothing wrong with it, my husband just suggested it be blonder when I got home, she did exactly what I asked her to do originally) she brought me back in and did it exactly how I wanted it a second time..no questions/attitude /charge at all. I discovered Salon Red a couple of years ago and have been a dedicated client ever since. My stylist, Kimmi, is terrific with cuts, color, highlights and always does a great job of "changing me up" when I need it. She's on of those special stylists that thinks about different ideas and offers suggestions at your appointment which I love, since I don't always have a clue what I'm looking for when I want a change. I head a radio ad over the summer for Rihanna Red hair color service. I didn't follow up with it until about a month later. I called and Bianca set me up an appointment., She gave me and estimate over the phone. When I got there it was awesome inside. I loved the color scheme. Binaca was fun and my hair is wonderful.
