I'm glad I found PPA because they have tons of classes from first aid to concealed carry. Their website is very easy to navigate, the classes are affordable, and the instructors are very patient. I've taken classes with Erin and a class with Mike. The class I took with Mike was the red dot 101 and I was thinking it would be a whole lot of shooting. It was more lecture than shooting in my opinion but the lecture is definitely what you need. Mike was on it, he was patient, a little funny but professional at the same time. Loved working with Erin, Mike, and Zack! Erin's Basic Firearms Class was exceptional! She's very thorough, realistic, and straightforward with her training. I noticed she is repetitive to allow us to build muscle memory when she observes a bit of a struggle when there is a lot to remember! And she is great at it and for our own good. She is very knowledgeable about her firearms and she allowed us to get familiar with each of them. Mike, Zack, and Erin's Initial CCW course was 2-days on the range and in the class. We had a mix of renewals, initials, and edits (adding or amending firearms) and a large class amongst the three instructors was impressive! They worked in sync moving large groups in waves and in order of their respective courses. Safety was always first and foremost, range logistics and emergency action plan was discussed and designated/shared roles amongst the class. Mandatory ears and eye protection are a must when the range opens at 0900 sharp! No exceptions. Mike and Zack covered a lot of classroom instruction and are very knowledgeable about gun laws and state policies. They talked a lot about de-escalating situations and disengaging with bad company ALWAYS! The goal is always to get home safe to your family. Zack said it best, something to the sort of "I hope that I die past 80 years of age and never having to defend myself in a gun fight" I highly recommend Personal Protection Academy for all your self defense training and firearms training needs! I have done many class with Mike and Erin. I highly recommend the Personal Protection Academy. The classes are always top notch and extremely helpful. I just took the Red Dot class and I was very impressed with the class and how much I learned in a short time. I have also taken the Advanced First Aid class. This class should be mandatory for everyone. CPR, AED and Stop the Bleed all in one class. Forget basic first aid classes, this is the class to take. I always have a great experience. Due to some last-minute circumstances, I had to miss a two hour class. when I asked if they could apply the credit forward, they trotted out their iron clad business practice of taking your money without having provided the service that you paid for. that's always a nice touch. I mean, they must've flown in a lot of experts for that two hour class, which was one of the most basic of any emergency medical classes that you can take. Well, YouTube the rescue. Honestly, I don't understand how businesses operate that way, considering I attended a previous firearms class with them and am normally pretty loyal when it comes to a business, I trust. What amazing experience my wife and I have had with Mike & Erin P. classes. Very down to earth couple with an abundance of knowledge in their fields of expertise. I personally have taken quite of few classes with Mike, and I walk away from ever class that more knowledgeable in gun safety. My wife and I have also taken a class with Erin. She is a registered RN with a bunch more certifications. We took a class on how to stop bleeding from a puncture wound, and the use of how to use a tourniquet to slow the bleeding. It would cross my mind occasionally as a woman, on whether or not to get my CCW but I would always sum it up to "Naw I don't need it, and prefer not to be responsible of hurting someone in that way or myself." Especially me as a nurse and a Christian my job is to help and protect however; attending this class with two God fearing Christians, husband and wife Mike and Erin also being a nurse, explaining their own personal testimonies and journeys, gave me a different insight on why it can be necessary, beneficial and needed in the times we are living in today. Mike and Erin came to our Church in Murrieta, gave a thorough class, gave biblical references, gave information on carrying responsibly, as self defense, in the most safest, last resort option. When harm is of equivalence to you and your family and no one else is there to help and it is an absolute life or death situation only should this be your option. Mike made a couple of good points, one in particular he stated, " People make the choice that someone is going to die today, you are just making the choice that it is not going to be you or your family." They taught us that carrying protection or being on the journey of being experienced to shoot should come with a sense of humbleness, education on how it is made, what your why is, the safety mechanisms behind how to properly store/ hold and shoot, your legal rights, utilizing prayer and wisdom in combination, and that the objective should not be shoot to kill but shoot to stop the threat until help has come. The class was VERY informative. It opens your mind to seeing why it can be useful. People now and days are coming into churches, schools, hospitals etc, self defense is necessary, knowledge is necessary, the Lord gave us wisdom, he gave us the Holy Spirit to order our steps so of course pray about it first before making a decision to get your CCW. God was not against war, or if violence had to happen occur to formulate his plan. So again pray about it! What May be for one may not be for another and that is ok. I plan to get mine sooner than later after finishing up school and more shooting classes but it is Def now something I will have and when I do I will be contacting Mike and Erin again.
