Overall this Gold's location does what it was designed to do- cater to UT Health San Antonio…read morestudents, staff, and affiliates. My only complaint pertains to maintenance of cardio equipment. This location was petitioned for by students of UT Health several years ago. The petition stipulated that future students would buy into the gym's construction by contributing a portion of tuition fees to pay off the gym and assumed that gym patrons would mostly be students and affiliates of the university. If you are an affiliate of UT Health, you will have zero need to complain or compete over parking at this Gold's location because you already have access to campus and facilities parking. This will sound unkind to say, but if you are not an affiliate of UT Health in some fashion, this really is not the Gold's location for you. It won't be the easiest location to travel to and may not have all of the features you desire such as a full day of group class offerings. If you are a steroid injecting competitive body builder that wishes to throw weights around the floor and reserve and entire area of machines for yourself at once, this place is not equipped to meet your needs. Everything from parking, to equipment selection, to hours of operation and class offerings, to locker rooms were designed to cater to the medical student or professional who wishes to maintain a no-frills exercise routine before/after work or during breaks throughout the 24 hour day. The locker rooms are spacious, clean, and exceptionally well stocked making it perfect to squeeze in a workout before getting cleaned up and dressed to work a full day in the hospital or clinic. The facility even has sleeping rooms you may reserve for taking naps. "No-frills workout" is a keyword in my review here, however the gym more than adequately meets the needs for exactly what it was designed to do: make it easy for medical center students and professionals to come get a workout and get back to work. I've been happy to have had gym membership through my affiliation with UT Health, and this gym is considerably better at meeting my needs (enabling me to workout around my schedule at a convenient location) than the student gym did when I was at a 4-year university. My only complaint is that over the course of my 5 year frequenting this location the cardio equipment upstairs seems to have undergone zero maintenance or repair. It has become increasingly bothersome to be preparing for a workout while wondering what the competition is going to be like to access an elliptical that has all of its functions still intact (adjustable resistance, crossramp, working buttons, working TV screen that picks up all channels and working sound, moving handlebars for arm workout). I can live with one machine being broken down while waiting for repair, but it should be a given that all machines are equally well maintained and functioning. It shouldn't be stressful to scramble for a fully functioning machine and as a customer I shouldn't have to purposefully schedule my workouts during off times in order to increase my chances of accessing a well working machine. Some information from management on the cardio machines' maintenance or replacement schedule would be helpful and appreciated.

It's great they still have pool and hot tub open. They also have towel service. Also good size gymread more

Best Decision I've Made - Thank You Patricia!…read more WellFIT Private Fitness is a hidden gem in Castle Hills. The gym is super clean, spacious, focused--and one thing I really appreciated--no cameras or video nonsense. Just you, your goals, and the work. I signed up for the 8-week program after meeting Patricia Khoury, the owner, for a free session. Right away, I could tell she was different. She actually took the time to listen to what I was dealing with--weight gain, wanting to build muscle, and get my balance back after knee replacements. She really got it, and explained exactly how she could help in a way that made total sense. Now I'm 7 weeks in, and honestly--I feel stronger, I've lost 10 pounds, built noticeable muscle, and I feel like my old self again. I'm more active, more confident, and way more energized. Patricia's coaching style is no joke--in the best way. She's 100% present in every session, always making sure I'm moving with intention, never letting me slack. She's tough, but in a supportive, encouraging way. You know she's in your corner. Yeah, I was sore the first few weeks, but it was so worth it. She also gave me a simple, doable meal plan that I could actually stick with (and I'm not someone who likes complicated diets). It's made a big difference. I even got my wife to join in with me, and she's just as happy I chose Patricia over the other coaches in the area. If you're over 50 (or even if you're not) and looking for someone who knows what they're doing, doesn't sugarcoat things, and genuinely cares about your progress--Patricia's the real deal. She gets results, and she trains on weekends too! Absolutely worth it. I'm so glad I found her.

Without insurance we called around for a fair priced one and this one fit the bill and is not to far from my home. When i started i could barely bend my knee and was having a hard time getting around after my femur break. Exercises at first were kind of hard to do and was kind of sore at night time. I can see why some would get discouraged and not believe in PT. But after a couple of visits I started to see some progress, it was awesome! Went in with crutches and my leg was stiff in the car, after my last visit I was driving myself and had a cane just incase i needed it after my exercises. 3 months later and I was walking with no cane and back at work lifting all types of stuff when needed. Awesome & friendly staff, hope to never have to use their services again but wouldn't hesitate if needed.

With gentle stretches, core-strengthening exercises and some hands-on work with the team, I am doing about 1000X better! It wasn't overnight, but the progress was faster than I had hoped. The appointments were easy to schedule, and everyone in the office is friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend this group to anyone needing some rehab for an injury or, like me, excessive wear and tear. Dr. Andi is a pro. Thanks!

The sessions were difficult since I hadn't worked out in a few years, but reinforced my thoughts that I needed to get back to the gym and I signed up for a year's worth of their small group training. I love the small class size and while the classes are tough, my body feels better, is definitely toning up and I sleep better too. I love the individual attention the small group classes allow and how they focus on different muscle groups each day. Every trainer I've worked with leading the classes has been excellent....encouraging and pushing me to increase my strength but modifying exercises when needed to avoid injury. I'm no athlete, yet Kenny manages to work with my limited capabilities to get me stronger and more flexible. After little more than 8 weeks (despite me ignoring diet or aerobic exercise discipline), I managed to lose over 4% body fat working out three times a week with Kenny! I also lost over 2 inches on my hips-- and I'm 57! Now I am encouraged to keep going, to lose the weight I've gained since menopause, and to keep getting stronger and get my full range of motion back. With Kenny's training and expertise I get to benefit from diet recommendations (gum had carbs, who knew?) and yes, even aerobic exercise. I'm going to try jump roping with one that has a counter in the handle. I'm looking forward to being leaner and fitter in 2019.

One of the things I was looking forward to the most when planning our trip to San Antonio was…read morechecking out Joe's Gym. It's exactly the vibe I look for in a gym: a classic, no bullsh**, weights clangin and bangin, full of people who are putting in genuine hard work. Immediately upon arrival a member helped us locate the owner, Roger, who got us set up with some day passes. That alone blew me away because out here, anyone would have just let us look around lost. I'm getting really bad with names but if she's reading this I want her to know she's so appreciated. Roger was also awesome. He checked in on us once we were settled, chatted with us about what we were doing in San Antonio, and gave us recommendations for surrounding neighborhoods (we were there to check out homes for potentially moving). I always appreciate gym owners who take the time to get to know the people working out with them. It gives you that level of connection you miss out on with commercial gyms. The gym itself is not your fancy commercial gym. It's the same gym it has been the whole time with classic machines, dumbbells, racks, etc. There's plenty of room for a decent amount of people to be there at the same time and still get a great workout in. I'm telling you, if you're in San Antonio, and you want a place where you can put in genuine hard word, go to Joe's. Coming to this gym was hands down one of the best parts of our trip to Texas and I am so excited to go back!
