The Diavolo came out piping hot with a thin crust that had just the right chew, and enough spice to make me feel alive but not regret my life choices. The place itself is cozy and buzzing, the kind of spot where you feel like you've stumbled into someone's Italian family kitchen minus the aunt asking why you're still single. Service was quick and friendly, even with a crowd. All in all, a solid stop for pizza in Oslo and probably the closest I'll get to Bologna without a plane ticket.

The tables are communal, so you'll likely end up shoulder-to-shoulder with strangers which, honestly, is half the fun. When I went, the room was buzzing like a Friday night in Rome. The staff was absolutely slammed, and after 20 minutes of waiting I did the classic "walk up to the bar and smile politely" move. Worked like a charm as service came quickly after that. Pro tip: patience is your friend here. I ordered the bruschetta pomodoro (simple, fresh, no notes) and a margherita pizza with ham. Not trying to reinvent Italian cuisine, but they nailed the classics and sometimes that's exactly what you need. So, if you like your dinner with a side of chaos, chatter from total strangers, and the feeling that you've stumbled onto a local secret, Girotono is worth the climb upstairs. Here's to another stamp on the tastebud passport!

We came for the pizza and it was totally worth it - nicely charred crust in their wood fired oven. We also enjoyed a caprese salad with fresh buffalo mozzarella. Staff were friendly and efficient. The restaurant is simple yet elegant. They were probably three or four patrons during our visit, so it was quiet. The waiters were nice and chatty. I ordered the pizza of the month for May. I can't recall all the ingredients. But I do remember I ordered this pizza because it had chorizo. Sadly, I did not like this pizza. The pizza had a very strong smell and it had a pungent taste. I think it was the chorizo. It was probably the spices it was marinated in. Anyways, the waiter was so sweet that he gave me another pizza. This time it was a plain ham and cheese pizza. And I thoroughly enjoyed it. My friend ordered the three Norwegian cheeses. I thought it was perfect. I'm unfamiliar with what cheeses they use, but it tasted great. Now Norwegian Cuisine is pretty out there. So they do serve pizza with reindeer meat and such. I did enjoy my experience. I'm giving them 4 stars because of their awesome waiters, their cozy yet trendy ambience, creative pizzas, and superb service.

This restaurant was located near our hotel and we were craving Italian food, so we checked it out. Hubby and I both ordered the Pasta Carbonara for $25.50 USD. Yes, that sounds a bit pricey, but everything is pricier here in Norway than the US. The carbonara was cooked al dente and it was so creamy, with just the right portion size. I will dream of this dish for days! We also ordered a glass of red wine each for $15.50 USD. The pour was a little small. Service was friendly and decent. The food came out really fast, but the servers didn't check on us after that, and we had to flag a server down to get the check. The restaurant is big and spacious. They have indoor seating and there's also seating outside of the restaurant in the shopping center area. Seats were comfortable and tables were clean. I'm really glad we decided to come here and weren't deterred by the 3-star average rating. I highly recommend this place.
