I am so grateful for the compassionate care my pet received after getting caught on a wire fence. I highly recommend them

I use to go here when it was known as best friends animal clinic. I had just moved from another…read morestate in the west coast to Westlake, LA during the beginning of 2020 and I was looking online for a veterinarian and it led me to here. I chose this place to be my dog's new veterinarian because of the good reviews and how everyone said that Dr. Ford is an amazing veterinarian. It was easy to set up an appointment. The vet staff, Dr. Ford and front desk employees were all so nice and kind. I had no problems with any of them. Dr. Ford is a great veterinarian and even took his time to answer any questions and did thorough exams, and it's thanks to him that I know that my dog has Patellar luxation and even asked me if my dog had any limping and I said no; he had said that patellar luxation is normal in small dogs which was a relief and since he wasn't limping that it shouldn't be a concern, and to this day, my dog still hasn't had any limping. The prices were pretty good too, I use to pay about 300+ each time I went to the vet and when I came here, it was always 100 or less and with NO tax on it! (Really amazing!) I had to move out of state in 2023, it was close to my dog's annual vaccines and Dr. Ford squeezed me in that same day I called with no hesitation and 2 days later I moved out of state. Literally, the best veterinarian I have ever seen and he actually cared about his patients/clients. The reason why I'm writing this review is because I randomly got an email from a place called NVC - Lake Charles and I didn't know what that was; I googled it and to my surprise, the address matched best friends animal clinic and I found out that it was sold to them and that about 4 months ago, nvc KICKED Dr. Ford out and ALL of his staff.. like who even does that. That's just straight up greed. Dr. Ford founded best friends animal clinic and even found the place to make it into a veterinary clinic and he's the one who gets kicked out along with his staff.. like what? That's so horrible. The prices have since gone up and it's double/triple the price. NVC is a greedy corporation that likes to kick out veterinarians that have founded their own clinic to scoop it up from them because they don't want to actually work for it to find a place to lease themselves and find the clients/patients themselves. I REALLY hope Dr. Ford opens up a new veterinary clinic and everyone goes there instead so this greedy corporation can close up in lake Charles. They have even been lying to people saying he retired when he was straight up fired along with his staff. I will be attaching a link to Facebook so you all can read what NVC did to Dr. Ford and his staff. They gave them no warning or notice; they showed up to work on a Friday 4 months ago and told them that they're all fired. https://www.facebook.com/groups/sulphur100/posts/2927774914080687/ If the link doesn't work, just screenshot it & copy and paste the link on google and you'll read all the comments of what greedy NVC did to Dr. Ford and his staff OR write "Dr. Ford lake Charles vet" and the Facebook post talking about all of this will come up. So NO I don't recommend this veterinarian clinic anymore at all. If my review gets deleted, I'll just write it again and again and again.

Terry Ford put his patients and the owners first, built a relationship and actually worked for affordable options and treatments not upsetting products or procedures that may put you in debt or you felt forced you to do nothing because of cost. If it was going to be costly you could trust him with that knowledge it was necessary. These companies taking over only care about money and the client count.

I NEVER WRITE REVIEWS, BUT THIS PLACE IS WORTH MY TIME: We bought our cat, Pearl from The Lake…read moreArea Animal Hospital (LAAH) through The Bayou Animal Rescue Krew (BARK). I've had cats all my life, but this cat is the most domesticated, friendly and loving of any cat I've ever had. Pearl is very well socialized. She is very smart too and she came litter box trained. Pearl was even trained to come to her name and does other tricks as well as any dog I've ever seen. LAAH & BARK trained her very well. She is well-mannered and she doesn't try to sneak outside, like most cats. I can also carry Pearl in her pet pouch all around town. People ask me if she's a special cat, because she will happily ride along just to be with us, no matter where we go. She really is a special cat, and we have LAAH to thank for that. THANK YOU LAKE AREA ANIMAL HOSPITAL (LAAH) & BAYOU ANIMAL RESCUE KREW (BARK). The time their staff must take to socialize & domesticate their cats make them the best cats you'll find in SouthWest Louisiana. Most cats are very independent, and refuse to be domesticated. I couldn't have said it better than the wise man who once wrote: "Cats are the only creature on Earth, that enjoys all the benefits of domestication, but refuse to be domesticated" -- Author Unknown. If cats could be domesticated, however, I would consider the cats from LAAH to be so. They play with, train, and socialize their felines before placing them up for sell. Note that this veterinarian also runs the SouthWest Humane Society, a No-Kill Shelter. This business also dedicates it's time to the Hobo Hotel For Kitties by providing spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and other essential veterinary services, FOR FREE. I feel good about doing business with a place who gives back to the community in such an important way. Not to mention, Pearl, the cat I purchased from LAAH, was in perfect health. The adoption fee covered a microchip, a Pet-Link ID - for life, all vaccinations, and the spay/neuter. All those things together would cost more than the fee to adopt a cat from LAAH (a.k.a., BARK). We are so happy with the new family member that LAAH gave us, that we would like to address the two negative reviews posted before this positive review. First, the review about LAAH being all about money could not be farther from the truth. As we mentioned before, this company gives their time, FOR FREE, to the Humane Society of SouthWest Louisiana. Of course, they need customers to pay for their veterinary services, otherwise they couldn't stay in business. That's not being all about money, that is smart business. Maybe the people who wanted free veterinary services should not have acquired an animal that they couldn't afford. The other negative review, about the customer service at LAAH, is nothing like the excellent customer service I've experienced with LAAH. LAAH always give me same day service, every time. Customers who call after-hours will be redirected to their messaging system, which lists their emergancy hotline, set up specifically for customers who need a veterinarian outside of their normal business hours. The Emergancy services cost more than their services during normal business hours, of course, and that's probably the core of any dissatisfaction the other negative reviewer experienced, rather than the displaced customer service complaints. Charging appropriate prices is smart business. That is how business is done in America. Choose LAAH for all your veterinary needs, or bring home a new family member through their rescue program. You will be glad you did. My family and I have repeatedly enjoyed a satisfying customer experience with LAAH. **I am not in any way affiliated with, nor do I work for, LAAH or BARK. My opinions do not represent either entities. I am only a loyal customer.
