We boarded our two cats in December for five days. When we arrived to pick them up, one of the cats refused to leave his kennel. I volunteered to assist, and was appalled at the mess in the kennel. It was disgusting and the smell was terrible. I don't think either of their kennels had been cleaned at all. On top of that my cat was terrified. When we got home he did not allow either of us to touch him for several days, and it took two baths to remove the stench from both of our cats. We will never board our cats there again. I boarded our Golden for 6 1/2 days there, paid for the $80 bath before departure but he came home with severe hot spots all over him. $380 vet bill for visit and all the meds for vet to tell me that they were clearly not drying him off after the pool time, which will cause hot spots on a Golden R. Simply amazing. I am a rather nervous pet parent. Plus being a Velcro dog didn't help the situation at first. Came here to check out the facilities. It was nearby Starbucks and I noticed they used the word Pet not Dog in their business name. So as I park and enter this place I noticed several gates to get into the entrance. I immediately see pools located outside with dogs. They separate by size. So I ask what about Cats considering I have three. They point over to a sad looking room with cells to lock them up in. At $32. cat per night $26. Per additional cat. This would be extremely expensive for me to have my pets at. Also it is obviously dog centric and cats are an afterthought. The place is very clean and seems orderly. Glad I checked it out for my friends who only have dogs this might be an option for them. For me it would only be a punishment to my three cats. read more

Our dog stayed with Pet Paradise for 12 days and I was very pleased with the staff. I like that there is always someone in the area/room with the dogs all the time while they are out of their kennel. I also like that they have numerous cameras available to be able to watch you pet. I will definitely use them again and recommend them to others. read more

I don't know what happened, but my dog was there for 3 days and now he's eliminating in the house constantly. He was potty trained early, but I'm just assuming he didn't get any bathroom breaks. He was such a good dog, but somehow someway they undid a lot of training. Never going back, never recommending, in fact I'm going to actively discourage people from going here. read more

Good and Bad about Pet Paradise Hilton Head. Great website, easy to use and book. Staff is generally responsive. More outside staff is definitely needed to supervise the play yard. We boarded our 10 year old mixed breed dog there on 3 separate occasions. MacKenzie is a sweet, older girl and we board her in a VIP suite. She has always done well with other dogs. First time MacKenzie came back with a torn off toenail, $800 vet bill but that was a fluke....not their fault. Second time we went to pick her up and she was bleeding from a puncture wound in her neck. No one claimed to see anything and said there was nothing on camera. 2nd fluke.....This week within 2 hours of our drop off we received a call that the tip of her ear was bitten and bleeding. The staff handled it well. After calling us, Haley took her to our own Vet in Bluffton and had her treated at the expense of Pet Paradise. Our girl is in a cone and on meds for the next week. Though we are pleased that Pet Paradise took care of our girl and the medical expenses from the incident, we believe there is not enough staff outside managing the amount of dogs they have in the play yard. Both times she was attacked, not one person saw anything and said there was no camera footage of the incident. read more

5 days ago The worst experience I have ever encountered at a dog daycare!!! I took our dog in for an evaluation for dog daycare and boarding. It did not go well. Too many dogs and not a lot of supervision! A smaller dog was put in with the large dogs and started to scream because it was being circled by larger dogs. Instead of removing the stressed dog it remained screaming and a fight broke out. My dog was blamed and we have taken complete responsibility, however, I am noting that I have yet to hear from a supervisor or manager of the Okatie location. This happened on Tuesday!! My second experience was with boarding. My dogs were going to be in private play and a private suite. We were leaving town on Friday morning early, so I arranged to drop off my dogs Thursday evening before 6 p.m. On Thursday morning I called the location and was transferred to voicemail three times. I know that they are busy with intake, so on the third call I left a message asking that they call me to confirm my drop off and that everything was confirmed for the weekend stay. They never returned my call!! Finally, early afternoon I called again and was transferred to a receptionist. She was very nice and we went over the reservation, confirming what I could bring for their stay, and the time I would be dropping them off that evening. We packed up their blankets and food and headed to the Okatie facility it was around 545p.m. I walked in and was greeted by the staff behind the desk. I told them we were here for boarding. The two behind the desk kept looking at me and back and forth at each other and then the computer. Finally, after about 5 minutes, because they were not talking to me, I asked if there was something wrong. They said well all of your dogs vaccines are expired. I said that's is impossible, so I called my vet. The vet assured them that the vaccines were all up to date. BUT one dogs Bordatella was expiring Saturday. I was shocked. I asked why wasn't this brought to my attention when I called earlier. I could've handled it that afternoon. NO ONE CALLED ME. I was very nice but shocked because we were leaving the next morning. So the staff behind the desk just kept looking at me, no apology just looking at me. I did not raise my voice, I just was in shock. I said What am I supposed to do, we are leaving in the morning? They said "I don't know". Then, whom I assume was a supervisor, pointed out that they could not stay. I was like ok, so I was walking out and the supervisor said "Have a great rest of your day" in a singsong mocking tone. I was stunned by the rudeness and lack of consideration for the situation. We ended up cancelling our plans, costing us $$. It was very upsetting and rude. I have not received one call from a supervisor or manager, so that speaks volumes to me on their customer service commitment. read more

Kind of crazy to read two out of the three reviews for Pet Paradise, when clearly one has not properly socialized their two dogs themselves and has no understanding of how boarding kennels work. IF you didn't want your dogs with other dogs because they "were not socialized by owners"...then you could 1.) choose to leave them with an at home pet sitter or 2.) find a rental unit that allows you to have them with you while visiting/traveling or 3.) get them trained/socialized(which should be part of an owner's care when raising) or even 4.) find a kennel that leaves them to private space and private attention play(many "Best Friends" places do that around the country. AS for the "cat lady" checking it out for friends with dogs...yes, most kennels/boarding are focused on dogs that need active play/exercise. MOST cats do not need that and actually don't socialize well. Even if you left in a vet clinic boarding, the cat(s) would be in "prisons". Here at least there is a wide/big open space to view from(yes, could use a few more outside windows for natural daylight) but they aren't packed like sardines here. JUST observations as I have had to deal with 3 cats(out to ages 18 w/ health issues even) boarding AND have always had big dogs, so I've seen and experienced MANY kennels/boarding spaces around the seven states I've lived in and all the ones we have traveled to with our animals. This place is shit. We took our two boys there for a day visit. Before we took them, we had to fill out personal & personality form. In that form, we told them that BOTH dogs have extreme anxiety & they BOTH have not been socialized. And that this is their FIRST time in place like this. But what did they do? They put them with a bunch of other dogs. So, of course, they're going be extremely overwhelmed. Of course they are going to separate from the group. Of course, they are going to snap & nip at the other dogs. Then I get a call saying they had to separate them from the group & put them in kennels or a room by themselves. Then we get another call saying that we should NOT bring them back & that we should think about taking them somewhere else. Now, listen, our boys are VERY good & VERY sweet. It just takes them a minute to warm up. We WANT them to be social. But PP has ABSOLUTELY NO clue as to what they are doing, how to deal with dogs, how to talk to customers. They have been saying since they opened (Jan '24) that they were getting a trainer. As Of August, they still did have one. Or even a behaviorist. DO NOT take your babies to this place. read more
