Today was the first time we used Pet Salon of Bend, and we couldn't be happier. We have searched groomers and their reviews for weeks, and settled on Terri. She has some great pictures on her website and we used a couple of those to show her what we wanted and then Terri asked us some important questions about our little guy - things we never would of thought to ask but were really important. Jack came home smelling great with a perfect cut and most importantly he was happy! Not stressed or upset, he had energy and you could tell he felt so good and pampered. Jack doesn't like getting his legs brushed or groomed, Terri noticed and still did a great job on his legs and feet. He doesn't particularly like to be put into a kennel when he's done either, like his old groomer use to do and when my husband got there to pick him up, he was sound asleep, laying on the floor next to Terri as she groomed another dog! We brought our WestiePoo, Mia, for the first time, for the full groom - trim, bath, ears, nails, teeth and glands, with Terri. We are so pleased with the shop and Terri! We are quite picky as far as the styling goes - we don't like her cut way short, and we showed Terri a few photos of what Mia looked like when we first adopted her, and hoped for the best. Kaylie is absolutely the best there is. The hardest part about taking our 2.5lb yorkie to a groomer is wondering how they treat him. In the past, he's hated his groomers and cries and howls when we show up. I have no question that Kaylie takes good care of him. I've showed up to pick him up and she'll be cuddling him in one arm while grooming another dog with the other. She treats him how we treat him and that means so much to us. Kaylie was great! I went to her for many years for both my dogs. But, she sold this business to move to Texas. The new owner, Terri, is not a good business woman nor pleasant nor understanding of customer service. Today, I was scheduled to have my very 1st appt. with her since Kaylie left. We made the appt. for today back in early December. I texted her yesterday to confirm for today, and she texted back that she did NOT have me on the schedule for today. Then she texted back that she DID, but I misread the 2nd text, and thought she was just reaffirming that she did NOT have me on the schedule for today. My mistake. I then texted that it was Ok, I could wait until the next appt. on Jan. 26. She said she was booked for 1/26, and then clarified that she DID have me on the schedule for today. So then I called to figure out what was going on, if I had an appt. today or not, but she didn't pick up, so I left a message to that effect. Then, I texted back that, while I was "confused," I would go ahead and bring my dog in today. She then texted back that she had "already filled my appt. time for today" (in the 10 mins. we had been texting?... sure), and that "it wasn't going to work out" and to "find another groomer." I said "What, why?" but she just reiterated that "it just wasn't going to work out." I asked why again and how had I offended her, but she did not respond. That was the total extent of our texts that took place over about 10 minutes. This was a miscommunication that began with her. But instead of apologizing for the confusion - as any good business person should - she simply dismissed me w/o explaining why. She obviously is wound tight. So, I am going to Deschutes Pet Salon on Wilson Ave. in the future. Prices there are the same as hers, and they are very pleasant and happy to take you on. I contacted Kaylie and told her about this. She said she had heard from a few other of her former clients who also said they'd decided to go elsewhere and/or had issues with new owner Terri for unnamed reasons. Kaylie said she was really disappointed to hear this. So let that be a warning for other potential customers. Terri is most definitely NOT Kaylie! Needless to say, I do not recommend this business. The new owner is unreasonable and is extremely overly defensive about a simple miscommunication that she started. Should you go there and later have an issue, good luck having it resolved in a civil manner. Update: Contacted another pet groomer for appointment information. I mentioned Kaylie (former owner of the Pet Salon of Bend) had recommended her. She asked me why I was leaving Pet Salon of Bend, and said she was just curious because she had gotten about 20 former Kaylie clients who didn't want to continue with Pet Salon of Bend. And she wondered why. So, I told her my experience. That should tell you something! read more

Kaylee did an amazing job!! I have a 7 mth goldendoodle who's never been groomed before and Kaylee was so good with her. She made her feel comfortable and taught me what to with her so she can feel even more comfortable when she is groomed again. Both of my pups look beautiful and I can tell they had a good experience. Wow I'm so impressed I would almost come back to Bend just to go to this dog groomer! I'm from the bay area and found myself in Bend and needed to take my dog to the groomer because it's so hot and his hair was getting too long. I looked online and found this salon. Kaylee, the owner got right back to me after I left a message and was so accommodating. I asked about the pricing it was so reasonable I made an appointment and took my dog Luca in today. Kaylee was so pleasant and her salon was so clean. The dog she was working on was relaxed and happy, I took that as a positive sign. When we picked up Luca he looked better than he has ever looked! Unfortunately, I've not had a chance to experience the level of service touted in many of the reviews. 7 days ago I called the Pet Salon and left a detailed voice message regarding getting our 10 year old female golden retriever a "summer cut" and full service grooming. After waiting several days without a call back I decided to send an email through their website with similar information that I had previously included in my phone message. That was two days ago and, so far, no one has made an effort to return my communications. Having been in business for more than 40 years it was always our policy and practice to return calls and emails regardless of whether or not we wanted or had time for new clients. We discovered the Pet Salon of Bend thanks to other Yelp reviewers, and wanted to pay it forward by letting others know what a wonderful place this is!! Kaylie is absolutely wonderful with our two goldens. They both love going to see her, as did our previous golden. They always come back looking and smelling great!! Kaylie listens carefully to all our specific instructions - special shampoos, what to trim, etc. - and has never made a mistake. Kaylie did a fantastic job giving summer cuts to my 3 small terriers. She was affordable, professional, honest, and showed great attention to detail. She also makes sure she knows exactly what you want before she starts working on the dogs.
