I came into the store Wednesday 19th of August Thursday, 20th of August and today, Friday 21st of August Wednesday and Thursday. I stood in the Fish department for 20 minutes without getting any help today I come in and lay at the counter had her little earpiece in to someone that I needed help in the Fish department started the timer on my watch 14 minutes and 58 seconds I proceeded to leave again without any assistance, I have five aquariums over $2000 in Fish thousand dollars in plants, but I will never ever come back to this store again why cell Fish if you don't have anyone here that can help you or assist you with something that you want unfortunately the fish they had I could not find nowhere else so I'll just bite the bullet and I ordered off-line very, very, very piss poor Customer Service when it comes to the Fish department read more

If you have a pet, I would definitely recommend NOT buying the treats there, specifically the Open Farm brand. I unfortunately made the mistake of getting the all natural Chicken jerky recipe for my sweet little pup and after 3 hours she started having diarrhea all over the house. It went on for 48 hours until it went away. I thought she had ate something outside but after looking at my recently bought Open farm treats I got from this store it was expired by 1 year!! I immediately went to return it the next day and told them to check out all the other stock of Open farm treats and they said "well keep a mental note". Next time I visited about 2 weeks later the same product was expired by a year, ALL of the open farm items. Unless you want your dog to poop its brains out, do not buy these treats!!! read more

Pet Supplies Plus always has a huge selection of top quality food, toys, and treats for our pups. The shopping experience is always a good one, due to the friendly employees who always ask how we are and offer to help. The store is so clean and well organized. I have purchased bulk pellets for my parrots a number of times from this location, however, my last two purchases have had bugs in them. From now on I will be purchasing bagged Zupreem pellets if I have to shop there. read more

Purchased a bag of pro plan kitty food (fat cat) and they have the best prices with that and her temptation snack addiction. Staff was stocking shelving but was quick to check me out when I came to the front. They double checked to make sure I had what I wanted. Sweet young lady checked me out, and made sure I got the points on my account by taking my phone # since I forgot my fob. Will come again in a month for more chunky kitty (on a diet) food : ) read more

After several frustrating trips out to PetSmart, I discovered that PetSupplies Plus in Salem carries everything I need for my kittens, now cats. Instead of ruining my day, I pop into PetSupplies Plus for one-stop shopping for my girls. No fuss. I have found the staff to be helpful when I ask for help--otherwise, they are there, friendly enough, but not intrusive. I haven't used the "You click, we fetch" feature whereby they would bring everything I need to the car, but it is nice to know it is there if and when I need it. read more

I shop here for dog food and treats. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The one time I took my small dog for grooming, however, I did not get two minutes away before the groomer called me back. She said she could not groom my dog because she was doing alligator rolls on her in the dog pen. I thought that was strange because my dog has been with several different groomers and I always ask if she was ok or nippy or difficult in any way. No one has ever said she was a problem. So I have to imagine this groomer must have handled her in a harsh way for my dog to try to escape her hold. So in the end, I guess I would stick around after you drop your pet off. Snoop from one of the aisles, and make sure your pet is getting appropriate treatment. read more

I made the mistake of buying a platy fish from this store last Saturday. It was my first time purchasing a live animal from Pet Supplies Plus. The next day, the fish seemed sluggish and stayed near the bottom of the tank. I called, and was told it was probably just adjusting. On Wednesday, that fish and all of our other fish were covered in small white bumps. The Pet Supplies Plus fish dead by the end of the day, and while we got Ick treatment as soon we figured out what was going on, my children have had to watch all heir beloved fish die one by one. We are now down to one last guppy, and I don't know if he will make it. When I called Pet Supplies Plus to alert them, I was told very matter-of-factly that they had already discovered the platy tank was infected with Ick as of Sunday. That shocked me, since if we had known on Sunday or Monday, we could have bought the treatment and hopefully saved our whole tank before the white bumps even showed up. When I said as much, I was told defensively that they had no way of looking up who had bought what by item, only by person or day. I think that a truly conscientious business (especially one that markets itself as "neighborly," and more personal than Petsmart) would have done the following: asked the employees working in the fish area how many Platy fish had been purchased Friday/Saturday, and if they remembered roughly what time of day. They could have then assigned an employee to review purchase records, and alert those whose contact information they had. In my case, I have their rewards card and certainly my purchase and contact info was in their system. That would have made a world of difference: saved our entire tank of fish, and made me a loyal customer for life. Instead I was blithely told that if I had the receipt, I could get a new fish. (As if I will EVER get live animals from this place again.) I was planning to start buying all of our supplies (we also have a dog, a cat, reptiles) from this more convenient Salem location, but now it is back to Petsmart for our considerable business. read more

I go here mainly for the XXL puppy pads. They usually have what I need in stock and the staff has always been friendly and helpful. They have a wide selection of products for all kinds of pets. Also, just for those who have read some other recent reviews, this is NOT the store where the owners son assaulted the customer wanting a refund, that was Exotics and Equatics. Pet Supplies plus has always had great customer service from what I have seen and experienced. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 only because a lot of products sold here can be found much cheaper at Walmart or by shopping online, but it's a conveniently located specialty store so that's to be expected I guess. read more

I have never had a problem with any of the food/treats/toys at this location, and they have all seemed to work just fine. When my dogs were groomed here, they looked good aside from a small nick on my smaller dog. However, every time I or someone I know gets an animal from here, it is dead within weeks. My mother and I had seven fish die from the same disease within days of each other (3 months ago). Today, a friend of mine had her new fish die and another had her hamster die, both within two weeks of purchasing. The last time we were in there there were numerous dead fish and even a dead bird. Just be aware of the possibilities of these animals being sick and consider all options before purchasing one. read more

On our recent grooming visit, my poodle received the worst service since going there. One side of his head was not even cut, there was too much hair hair still on his eyes, his ears and paws were not cleaned or cut and hair around his tail was not trim and he has a big pick on his back like they had started with one guard on the clippers and then changed to another. I took my poodle back to have hair over his eyes cut, informed and showed the groomer what a poor job it was ! I was offered a "couple bucks off his next appointment " and then next day when I called just to see who had groomed him and again say what a bad job it was I was offered "half off his next visit" I explained that my poodle had received such a poor job that we would not be back ! read more
