Nothing wrong with that, however, the "new" groomer shaved way to close to my dog's skin within her sanitary region. A bad razor burn with swelling and oozing resulted a day later. I took her to the vet, and the doctor said the close shave caused irritation which resulted in an infection. When I confronted the owner, she denied any responsibility for the infection that resulted from the razor burn and wouldn't reimburse us anything because apparently they were not "liable." This is an absolute degradation to their services and an extreme disappointment. We have enjoyed taking our dog there in the past, but I'm not about to let something like this happen again just to have to take my dog to the vet again. The grooming fee is already expensive enough without the addition of an unexpected vet bill. The owner showed little sympathy and didn't seem to care about our dog's well being at all. I would expect a good groomer to take the health and well being of the animals of the upmost importance, but money and pride seemed to have gotten in the way. I guess its too hard to take care of your customers and take responsibility for an issue that one of your staff members caused. I expect better treatment from a "Professional" grooming service.

I will not be bringing any pet of mine back to Dogwood Paw Spa and Resort…read more My dog Millie went in for a grooming appointment and came home with a bow placed unusually close to one ear instead of centered on the top of her head. Later that day she kept shaking her head as if something was bothering her. The following day, while petting her head, we felt a knot exactly where the bow had been placed. Her hair was sitting in a way that made it difficult to see, but when we looked closely there were small red irritated spots in that area. At first we thought it might be a minor irritation and treated it with antibacterial spray, but the swelling worsened and her hair began sticking to the spot. We took her to the veterinarian where the scab was removed and the surrounding hair shaved so the area could be examined. Underneath was a large gash on her head with infection present, and the wound had been bleeding and oozing. Her hair had essentially stuck to the wound and scab, which caused it to pull whenever she moved her head and explains why she had been shaking it. What was most upsetting is that no grooming accident or injury was ever mentioned to me when I picked her up. When I returned to the facility to address the situation, the possibility of anything happening during grooming was immediately dismissed before even speaking to the groomer. It was suggested that my 4-pound dog somehow caused the injury herself, and I was told their employees would "never cut a dog or cover up a grooming accident." I was also told the owner and groomer would call me the next day to discuss the situation. That call never came. Since then, my attempts to contact the owners have been ignored. My calls were not returned and I was blocked from contacting the business on Facebook. At the same time, comments from people asking about the situation or expressing concern appear to have been deleted, while statements denying responsibility remain posted. I have veterinary records and photographs documenting the injury, and the full timeline of events has been publicly documented on my Facebook page. My goal in sharing this experience is not to attack anyone but to bring awareness so that other pet owners can make informed decisions and so situations like this are taken seriously. Millie is now wearing a cone while her head heals. Seeing my dog injured after trusting professionals to care for her has been heartbreaking.

They were nice when I brought her in and offered me the "spa package" during her cut which included a massage and brushing her teeth, among other things. The price was comparable to other groomers so I took it. When I picked her up, I was informed that I was being charged 150% of the original quoted price because "she was difficult to cut and tried to bite the groomer". Once I informed the rude front desk attendant (different person from the morning when I dropped her off) that my dog has never tried to bite anyone she backed off and just said she was fidgety. My dog has been to multiple groomers over the years and I've never heard anything but positive remarks about her and her behavior during grooming. This is one of those charges that I really can't dispute if they insist on charging it so I imagine they do it to a lot of people. After this debacle, they still had the audacity to ask for a tip for their service. Seriously? This grooming ended up costing me almost twice what I pay anywhere else in town. This was the first and LAST time I will ever use this business. Don't waste your time with them.

The Dog Stop used a shampoo made in Korea that should be diluted with water at 20-1. Should!!! Archie was in pain when I picked him up and when I put him in the car. He could not open his eyes and licked his paw. HE SMELLED LIKE STRONG CHEMICALS. He was bleeding from cuts by the groomer on his both paws . I took him straight to the vet from the dog stop. The vet immediately diagnosed him with a chemical burn from the shampoo. The Dog Stop owner blew it off as just a common thing that happens. IT IS NOT COMMON FOR A DOG TO GET A CHEMICAL BURN FROM GETTING WASHED!!! It is not common for us to bring our dog home and hope and pray that he is not blind for the rest of his life. It is not common for us to watch him suffer so much! He can barely open his eyes. The color in his eyes has faded, The vet does not know if he will be blind or not. We just have to wait and hope !
