Ordered through the app to pick up early before opening. Apparently pick up was curbside no biggie it was busy Saturday for me & that works. But unfortunately once I arrived you advise you're here & parked in front of the Vetco door & after waiting 15min & sent a reminder the store & after another 10min of waiting I called, no answer. And I could have just walked in when I arrived & been in & out in 10 at the most. I realized everything happens for a reason when I was just handed a bag of the food but not the 40lb bag of pine litter. I informed the cashier the litter bag had two holes leaking over the counter & requested another bag & she looked confused. I then said I can just go get it & she responded quickly that I can exchange it. It was the last one on the shelf & I inspected it walked out. Good thing it wasn't curbside after all. Need better service & if you're not going to do curbside remove it or make a note so customers aren't sitting in vain wasting time. I thought it was cashier but once I was inside there was two others I saw one in back office & another was assisting another customer. read more

Every time I come in Jeanette is happy and loves to see the same squishy face over and over. She does an excellent job accommodating Stella since she can be very particular and a bit mean to the staff. Talk about awful! Waisted for help for over 20 minuets in the aquatic area. Didn't get any help, so we asked a black woman with dreads and a white trans man. Neither wanted to help and said there was already a worker in that section. After waiting another 10 minuets and still not getting any help we went back to ask the dread head woman who clearly did not want to help. Asked her to grab 2 small snails for us. She helped and THREW them into the water box before packing only 1 up for us. She was miserable and not helpful. No one looked like they liked their job and clearly didn't want to help. On top of it throwing a live creature ! Animals are not properly cared for here and don't even get me started on the HUGE betta fish in those small plastic containers. Went in to buy a fish, after 15 minutes went to the register and asked if there was anyone to help in the fish area, she said she would let someone know. 20 minutes later went back up and let them know that no one still haven't come. I saw an associate getting dog food for a customer and we made eye contact. Another 15 minutes went by and still no came. I was done and decided to leave. I was walking out I saw 3 people up at the register and the associate I made eye contact with wasn't doing anything but standing there. I had my 13 year old shih tzu named Molly groomed last weekend at her regular groomer in north SD County and today, I noticed her walking funny. I checked her nails and it appeared that the groomer did not cut her rear paw nails as short as the front. I called Petco in National City (I shop there regularly) and they said to bring her in. I drove straight there and although they were busy, they were nice enough to help. It only took them ten minutes to clip and buff her nails and she was good to go. Jeanette (groomer) was nice enough to inform me that two nails on Molly's back right paw were beginning to poke her pad which explains why she was walking funny. Needless to say, I will be having a word with Molly's regular groomer about what happened and hopefully, it won't happen again or I may have to reconsider groomers. As soon as I got home, I put my dog on the floor and she began walking normally again. Thanks Petco for your help today! Molly and I really appreciate it. And to clarify, although my dog goes elsewhere for grooming services, Petco fixed what another groomer did not do correctly. read more

This review is for grooming. I brought my dog here a couple of times and will not be bringing her back. There is no point in making an appointment, I have waited over 20 minutes sometimes over my appointment time to check her in and she already has a lot of anxiety. I once picked her up and she had a cut on her that was actively bleeding. This last time I was waiting over 10 minutes and unfortunately had to be somewhere else. No one was acknowledging me. I finally just had to leave. The groomers are not dog friendly at all, which is why she may have anxiety about being there, especially if they are cutting her skin. I come to this specific location because they sell more of a variety of parrot food that's ideal for my kind of parrot. This location also has a veterinary hospital for pets located inside. She said they were all being used so I waited around then went and looked through the whole store. No one had a shopping cart so I asked another employee. He said they didn't have any that people took them, they haven't had any in three months. I came in yesterday afternoon & was disgusted to find SO MANY poor Beta fish dead, dying or living in filthy water & poor conditions! Alli the dog trainer was so helpful. I adopted a 4 year old German Shepard and after working with her for 7 weeks I have seeing some massive behavioral changes. She does not only help your dog but also trains you to be better fit in training your pet yourself as well. She is super nice and patient. This is a nice clean store with friendly employees. Ever since we got Simba, I've been coming here once in a while for gourmet treats and misc. items. After realizing that they offer grooming, I decided to check it out because he was in desperate need-shedding all over my house! I can say that I'm happy with the grooming services. Laura was his groomer and she made him feel comfortable. I stayed to watch him get his initial shaving in order to see if he would freak out because he is freak-out prone. He was pretty scared but did very well and she let me leave and said she'd call me in a few hours. I told her to make sure she muzzled him when trying to clean those eye boogers cuz he be snappin', lol. She called me just shy of 4 hours later and when I went to pick him up, it was like a whole new puppy! He didn't let her get too much of his face with the clippers and she didn't want to bleed so we just let him have his mane...he is Simba anyway, ha. Overall, I'd definitely bring him back so he can get used to it-maybe with Laura only. Man, this puppy care is expensive tho...$80 out the door for his flea shampoo, conditioner, nail trim, eye cleaning, de-shedding treatment and whatever else came in the package. Same day pick up orders take forever and doesn't even give you an estimate when you can pick up. Most places give you an estimate like for example Office depot pickups are ready within 30mins guaranteed. I went to go pick up literally 1 small bag of dog food thinking it could maybe be ready since its been a few hours and justed wanted to check. I told the associate my name for pick up and she originally told me it was ready and said she'd go grab it, so I waited but then a manager came by to tell me it wasn't ready which i completely understood. But she had an attitude about it that I was there too early. I literally could had just grabbed the bag myself if it was too much of a hassle or the original associate could had just said it wasn't ready yet and I would had came back later Lol. My dog has been getting groomed here for a while now. Sadly, our favorite groomer is gone, I wish I got her name. I have few pictures of her and Nala in the grooming room together and I will post that here. Also, ever since Nala was groomed by a new groomer, she has been acting strange. She seemed to be terrified of something and I was suspecting that someone might have used force to groom Nala. That is just my guess. About a month ago, Nala was groomed by a new guy. Zero stars, the stylist Nikki at Petco in highland ave did a horrible job with my 5 month puppies. They spend 5 hours at the groomers and Chloe only received a bath and half of her nails trimmed, then Rosie got a bath and they "Trimmed her body only" half of her body looks done and the other half is patchy not to mention her head to full length so she looks like a lion. 5 HOURS!!!!! a traumatizing experience for my first timer pups like aren't these professionals suppose to know how to slowly introduce new puppy's into the grooming routine?? Like Anyways we'll be over at Posh Poodle Dog Grooming from now on. Not to mention they wanted me to go back for another session like I would put my pups thru that again? 1st time ever taking our german shepard to a groomer, and it was quite and experience. Let's just say my dog was too excited to see other fury friends around. Ms. Makayla was our groomer for Bud and she was awesome! She was very patient and gentle with Bud being it was his first time at a groomers. It was a quick and easy process getting him checked in and informed of all the grooming services they offered. Ms. Makayla customized our grooming session to the specific needs I was looking for and what would be the best deal for us as well. She initially told us 2-3hrs being it was Bud's first time but she called us just short of 2hrs to let us know Bud was ready to be picked up. We will definitely be bringing Bud back for more grooming sessions and we will definitely requesting Ms. Makayla every time. read more

i went to petco two different times to get pet fish the first time I got two goldfish one of them died the same day. The other one died the next day and I let it go because they were 30 cent each. I can't say enough good things about this Petco location. The staff are always kind and willing to help or answer any questions, and they take their time when making recommendations. Whenever I am browsing, I am approached by a few different people who check in to see if I need anything, and it seems like it is not just because their job requires them to. I specifically want to highlight the professionalism and patience of Julian. Last night we spent over an hour in the store, working through coupons from the Petco calendar and the new puppy booklet. When we got to the merchandise counter, Julian informed us that the store was out of bags. We had 3 puppies and an entire cart full of stuff, but we told him we didn't mind. I let him know that I would be price matching a few items on the website (with screenshots) and that we had a bunch of coupons. Instead of acting overwhelmed or exasperated, he let his coworkers know he would be busy a little longer than usual with us. Little did we know that none of the coupons we brought in would work. So Julian took the time to painstakingly enter each individual coupon and price match adjustment manually, on over 30 items. It took quite awhile but he even suggested we review the coupons and items scanned to ensure everything was correct before he rung up the grand total. Thanks to his patience and great attitude and customer service, we had a pleasant experience and saved over $150.
