Their whole staff is great at working with my dogs for daily kennel and long term boarding.

Are they under new ownership? What has changed? We've used Camp Run-A-Mutt several times over the years for overnight boarding and have always had a great experience, which is why this recent stay was so surprising. When making the reservation, I noticed that a few of my dog's vaccinations would expire during his stay. We took care of getting them updated weeks in advance and made sure the vaccination certificates were sent to Camp Run-A-Mutt. I even confirmed with a staff member at the front desk that they had received everything and that my dog was all set for his stay. A few days before our trip, I received a call saying my dog was missing vaccinations. I asked which ones, and of course they were the very vaccinations we had already updated and submitted. I explained that they had the records, the employee put me on hold, then came back and confirmed everything was in order and said they'd see him on Thursday. Then things got even more frustrating. On Thursday, as I was landing in another state for my vacation, my daughter--who was dropping my dog off before catching her own flight--called me in a panic. She was being told they couldn't accept him because his rabies vaccine wasn't up to date. I immediately called the facility and explained that we had already confirmed his records twice. The employee put me on hold, checked the records, and sure enough, they had his current rabies certificate the entire time. They admitted everything was up to date and accepted him. A few days later, while we were still out of state, I received another call saying my dog was being quarantined and separated from the other dogs because his vaccinations supposedly weren't current. At this point, this was the third time in less than a week that the exact same issue had come up. I again explained that his vaccinations were current and that their staff had already confirmed this multiple times. The employee put me on hold and never came back to the phone. Thankfully, my daughter was only a few hours away and was able to rush over and pick him up. When I called to pay for his stay over the phone and let them know he was being picked up, I was initially told they couldn't accept payment over the phone. That was confusing because I've paid over the phone for previous stays without any issue. When I asked if it was a new policy, the employee admitted it wasn't--they just didn't know how to process a phone payment. They had to get someone else to help before I was finally able to pay. I'm honestly not sure what's changed, but the organization and communication were completely different from the excellent service we've received in the past. The repeated confusion over vaccination records--which they already had on file and repeatedly confirmed--caused unnecessary stress while my family was traveling out of state and ultimately resulted in our dog being removed from daycare and picked up early. We've always been happy with Camp Run-A-Mutt, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I hope this was just an isolated breakdown in communication, but based on our recent experience, I no longer feel confident leaving my dog there. read more

Been bringing my pups here for about 8 years, back when Paul and Chad were running the place (we miss them and the original team so much, and often). And we keep coming back because this is our favorite Camp Run‑A‑Mutt location in all of San Diego (second favorite is East County). What I absolutely love is that Camp Run‑A‑Mutt is a cage-free dog daycare and boarding facility designed to give pups a safe, fun and socializing environment. This means you need to get your pup temperament tested before they can even stay here, and there are requirements for vaccinations and altering. And it is spacious with several live cams (via Muttcams) during open (pre-overnight boarding hours). This location has something like 16,000 square feet -- a sizable indoor area and backyard sections. They do keep the bigs and the littles together, so the pups need to be well socialized. The facility also has synthetic turf play areas, water features like a splash pond, temperature-controlled indoor zones with water misters during the summer and, during the winter, the team will actually put sweaters on your pups -- how great is that! It is getting pricey, though, and the costs for half day, full day and boarding has increased significantly since the pandemic. But it is a great option, and our pups seem to absolutely love it here. And we love that it is cage-free and there is constant human supervision, and that the team seems very loving and caring, especially when our pups are stressed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We also love receiving their boarding report cards when we pick them up, which tell us how they did, which pups were their best friends and little notes about their personalities.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They also have vaccination clinics on the regular, on site training and also grooming services on site, which is just great. You can get your pups full baths, trims and styling. So it is like a one-stop shop. They even sale items like food, toys and sometimes beds and leashes. I've been using CRAM for 6 years for daycare and boarding for all my animals.[[HIGHLIGHT]]I had a medical emergency and needed to extend my dog's stay for a few days.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I tried to call to ask how I can get extra food to him or pay extra money for someone to get it since I am currently in the ICU. We recently went on a 6 night trip over the holidays and needed a place to board our 4 month old puppy, Molly. Alec and the staff at camp run a mutt were professional, caring, and went above and beyond to make sure Molly had the best experience. She was super nervous around other dogs at first, but the staff took the time to help her get comfortable and by the end of her stay she was playing in the yard and making friends. This is a long overdue review. Camp Run-A-Mutt is hands down the best place for doggie daycare and boarding I have ever used. When I moved from NYC a few years back, I researched places for my Frenchie, Hugo. I had a few requirements: 1. Pet friendly staff (too many places have employees who do not seem to like dogs, which defeats the purpose); 2. Trustworthiness (I've read numerous news articles describing vacationing families receiving telephone calls that their dogs have died - usually from heat/dehydration); and 3., no cages (my dog has never been caged and would probably have a nervous breakdown if caged overnight). Camp Run-A-Mutt exceeded all my requirements and expectations. The staff treats Hugo like a member of their own family. When he boards, it's "free range," with dogs sleeping on comfy beds, chairs or couches. Also, they maintain "muttcams" so that you can check up on your dog during the day (though, I try to give Hugo his space ). I like that before a dog can attend Camp Run-A-Mutt, the staff conducts a "temperament test." They are exposed to a mild-mannered dog in a controlled setting to determine whether the dog is suitable. I have had friends whose dogs have failed the test (oh, the shame! ). Most of all, Hugo loves going there and I have piece of mind that he's safe and in good hands. He loves it so much that when I pick him up at the end of the day, he has to personally say goodbye to all the staff members. read more

Watch the cameras and you'll see at least one daily traumatic dog fight due to rough play or aggression. Poor staff, likely getting injured breaking up fights all day. -constantly understaffed. During openings and closings, there may be only 2 staff supervising 60-80+ dogs? -Most of these reviews seem to be incentivized by the company to gain numerous 5-star ratings. SUPER MISLEADING!! WARNING: Be ultra careful if you decide to bring your dog here for daycare. He/she could be mauled, attacked or severely bitten by several other attendees and suffer through wounds that won't heal. See attached photos. **Disclaimer 1) This review is SOLELY about my interaction with Paul, the owner, after the assault on our dog occurred, his lies, attempted deception, and lack of empathy. 2) Chad is nice. Deal with him if you can instead of Paul. 3) Camp staff is VERY nice and have a good aura. Our dog, Hudson, was viciously attacked at camp-run-a-mutt Chula Vista three weeks ago by what appeared to be about 10 other dogs all at once. We woke up the morning after picking him up to blood drops all over our living room floor. None of the camp employees told us that anything had happened. They just sent him home willy-nilly without one word about ANYTHING. From the video, the pile of dogs appeared to be attempting to maul Hudson after a husky, Luna, snapped at him. From what I remember, camp staff is seen doing nothing for a few seconds, likely because they didn't notice right away - a major issue - that's what you and I pay for. The rest of the video was cut off after that. This is all we were shown. The owner, Paul, made several false claims about what happened when I called him about this. First he claimed verbatim "Oh it was just a scuffel". A direct and whole lie. It was NOT just a scuffle it was a full on mauling. He then claimed a boxer was just playing too rough with Hudson, but it wasn't serious. Another complete and whole lie. When I asked for the other parents information so that they could remit payment (California Civil Code 3342). Paul told me that he didn't know who the other parent was, and that he would take care of the bill. A partial lie that he walked back in person when we brought him the bill. Paul asked me if I could bring Hudson in so that he could observe his injuries. We brought him straight over after his surgery, to which Paul claimed "Ok. This is really not that bad" and "Hudson really brought it on himself". It's the insensitivity for me. Our dog just endured some FOUR to FIVE lacerations from a camp assault and his chosen display of empathy was "He brought it on himself"?? I suspect that Paul may suffer from DSM-V Narcissistic Personality Disorder, but I don't know him personally so I can't be sure. Hudson's "crime" was trying to mount another dog. This is not a grown man with full use of his frontal lobe we're talking about here. Hudson is a K-9. I had to play nice and not unleash my wrath on him right then and there because I wanted his vet bill paid and insulting Paul's tender ego could have made getting Luna's parent's names very difficult without a subpeona. Abundant self control is everything in these situations. Last, KNOWING FULL WELL California is a strict liability state, Paul told us that because Hudson tried to mount the other dog, we should pay for some of the damage that bit his flesh open. Again with the narcissism. When I turned this down, Paul's exact response was "Well if that's the case, I can't have him back here." Now, ironically, I actually agree with Paul here. From a business standpoint, even though Hudson was the one attacked and could not fight off 10 dogs, I would have done the same thing. It would be a liability to everyone involved to continue hosting him. We'd already made other arrangements for Hudson and had zero plans to bring him back. The issue is: A) Paul ONLY expelled Hudson because we refused to accept his crumb settlement offer. B) Paul told us no when we asked him to let us know next time something like this happened. (Having ZERO intention of bringing Hudson back but just wanting to see if he'd accept responsibility for his actions) He said he just can't do that. He can't let us know if our dog is attacked. Say what, homeboy???? Hudson absolutely should have been expelled. 10000%. If our dog, regardless of innocence or mild temperment, is getting beat up, he becomes a liability and is subject to death. Why Paul's initial thought was to allow Hudson to stay until we refused to settle is beyond me and speaks to his integrity. So incredibly disappointing. I can't recommend this camp to any person that values the safety and well being of their pet. read more

We've brought our puppy here three times now for grooming and the first two times the female groomers loved him and our pup was a stunning young pup. He came home looking amazing and had no issues. This last time we had a male groomer and when we picked up our young pup you could tell from our dogs body language and resistance that something was wrong. He kept clutching his right leg and he obviously looked in pain walking and even laying down. We called the shop and they said there's nothing they can do because when he arrived they didn't observe anything wrong. They even said, " he didn't have those cuts when he arrived when we examined him". We'll obviously, he was happy an energetic when he went in but now he's scared, in pain and obviously went through a traumatic experience. He obviously got the cuts from your groomer. The person on the phone was in complete denial and continued to take zero ownership of the injuries they caused. We observed him for a few days now and found three areas where he was obviously nicked pretty bad by the groomer which is crazy when our little man is chill. When we comb him he barely moves which makes me think wth did they do to our dog. Just wanted people to beware. The worst part is we bought this dog as an emotional support dog for our kid while I'm on deployment. The irony! The definition of customer service. Love Camp Run-a Mutt for our Jack Russell Terrier she gets lots of exercise and socialization. It's a great daycare

We've been coming here for about two years. I drop Candy Cane off once a week for playtime with friends and to maintain a relationship with the facility for instances when we need to travel and we can't take her. She's a rescue dog so I didn't want her to think she was abandoned when we'd leave her for boarding. Candy always runs up into this building. She doesn't look back at me. She's so happy there. I always figured it was because she's going to see her doggo friends. But this morning when I dropped her off, she ran in the building as usual and I saw through the open door the welcome she got from a staff member that was working at the front desk. My dog shoved herself into that woman's body and got a premium snuggly scratchy rubdown! I got a little misty eyed watching the staff love on my dog. That's when I realized it's not just the 4-legged friends she loves there. She loves her two-legged friends too! Thank you for taking good care of my dog! P.s. the grooming is first rate as well. I took my dog in for grooming, and this was our first experience with Camp Run-A-Mutt. I absolutely LOVE this establishment and Ranger is planning to come back to try out daycare and other services in the future. First of all, the staff was extremely friendly. Ranger pooped at the grass before going in for his appointment, and I asked if they had a poop bag because I realized I had none left. They told me they'd pick it up for me instead and I was all good. (You should always pick up after your dog, but it's very nice when someone else offers to do it for you). Ranger was apparently very hyper today, but Laura still did an amazing job giving him a bath and trim. She was very nice and asked exactly what I wanted his trim to be like. She did a perfect job and my baby looks so handsome! He smells so fresh and clean as well. Thank you Laura for grooming Ranger! Best thing in my opinion, is that they're very affordable. Compared to all the other places I've taken Ranger to get groomed, they have the best service with the most affordable price. We'll definitely be back! Esta mañana cuando dejé a mi perro y la llevaron al patio una de las empleadas estaba jalando de su collar de una manera agresiva, fui a hablar al front desk y decirles que porque la estaban jalando así, les mostré la foto y ellas dijeron "I can't see anything since the cameras have bad quality" (?)Me arrepiento tanto de haber deja a mi perro a su cuidado, tuve que dejar a mi perro porque no tenía opción. Estuve viendo las cámaras TODO el día, ellos empujan a los perros de una manera agresiva, cuando saben que hay cámaras y los estamos viendo, no quiero imaginar que hacen cuando no los vemos, hay cámaras que no funcionan (muy conveniente para ellos) y cuando preguntas porqué , solo se hacen los tontos. También separaban a los perros, al final del día en el patio una de las chicas que trabajan ahí los estaba mojando con una manguera a presión, cuando hoy hacía frío, cuando recogí a mi perro ella estaba toda mojada, su suéter que tenía puesto en la mañana le quedaba grande, de las veces que una de las chicas le estiró su suéter. Cada que abrían una de las puertas donde están los perros jugando los perros corrían, lo cual es totalmente normal porque son perros, y una de las chicas los jalaba a los que podia de una manera horrible . Si no les gusta trabajar con perros y jugar con ellos, no se que hacen en ese daycare, si quieres a tu perro NO LO LLEVES A ESTE DAYCARE, no es un lugar donde tratan bien o al menos a mi perro no lo trataron bien. Si quieres a tu perro evita llevarlo aquí. Como punto final, hay 3 personas cuidado a 30 perros, no juegan con ellos y cuando los perros juegan entre ellos los jalan de sus correas, me arrepiento totalmente de haber llevado a mi perro aquí, y le diré a cualquier persona que conozca que eviten este desagradable lugar, CONTRATEN personas mejor calificadas, que realmente les guste su trabajo, si se supone que están "calificados" para cuidar perros, no se cuando les enseñaron que los perros aprenden si los jalas o si les gritas. El único de los empleados que trato bien a mi perro fue el chico que le hizo el test temper y otra chica, no se sus nombres pero fuera de ellos, no hay personas capacitadas o que amen a los perros en ese lugar. espero que los dueños de los perros puedan ver cómo jalonean a sus perros, claramente este no es un lugar donde tu perro estará seguro. read more

They love my Miki so much here. The staff is always so cheerful and courteous. I like that the staff comes out to your car for pickoff and drop off right away. What I love most is that this place does not smell. The other dog daycare place I used had an over powering scent of lemon disinfectant. I had to wash Miki of it when we got home. Plus I don't hear the constant nervous barking. I think this makes the place less stressful on my dog and happier. read more
