Camp Run a Mutt CV - Halloween photos!!
    Miriam F.

We love bringing our fur babies to Camp Run-A-Mutt Chula Vista! We've been coming here for years, and our dogs are senior now, the staff always takes such amazing care of them. Everyone is so friendly, patient, and genuinely loves what they do. They even host fun little events like taking Halloween pictures with the pups, which we absolutely love! It's clear they treat every dog like family. Highly recommend!

I have been taking my pet Gunner for couple years now. Gunner has been going there for boarding and occasionally daycare Since he was 6 months old and now 2 years old. It's by far the best place for him. He loves going there and I go on vacation knowing he is well taken care of. I love they have the bath available ao he comes home clean. Thank you Camp-Runamutt for your service and kindness.

    Hose time is her favorite!!

Kalani loves coming here! The staff is wonderful, and the big yard gives her plenty of room to play and burn off that shepherd-mix energy. I really appreciate that it's completely cage-free, and it gives me such peace of mind knowing that when she has overnight stays, there are humans with her the whole time. Couldn't ask for a better place for my girl!

I've been using CRAM for 6 years for daycare and boarding for all my animals.I had a medical emergency and needed to extend my dog's stay for a few days. I tried to call to ask how I can get extra food to him or pay extra money for someone to get it since I am currently in the ICU. I called 12 times today from 8am to noon today to try and get ahold of staff. I got no answers and the phones kept ringing and ringing. I checked the cameras to make sure everything was alright and was astonished to see 1 person in the yard with so many dogs. Is this normal ? I tried to check the other cameras and only 2 of them were working. I have always had good experiences with staff in the past but this was unacceptable service and I will not be bringing my animals here anymore. I had to call my neighbor whom just had a baby to go pick up my dog since I don't have any living family in the area. This place unfortunately has really gone downhill.

Mold by the water fountain and algae / mold between the turf and tube . Really camp run a mutt ?

I would like to take my dogs here but after looking on the cameras I will not ! You can see black mold which is DISGUSTING and not safe at all!

I take me Pebbles to camp a few times a month, she loves it, and always come back so tired she gets lots of rest after. She is so excited to go there, they treat her so well and I am always surprised the know her so well. I love that they take care of her like I do.

DIRTY!! My dog stayed for boarding and came back with bites and a skin infection. I emailed them and they never responded.

Hugo jumping for joy at Camp Run-A-Mutt.

This is a long overdue review. Camp Run-A-Mutt is hands down the best place for doggie daycare and boarding I have ever used. When I moved from NYC a few years back, I researched places for my Frenchie, Hugo. I had a few requirements: 1. Pet friendly staff (too many places have employees who do not seem to like dogs, which defeats the purpose); 2. Trustworthiness (I've read numerous news articles describing vacationing families receiving telephone calls that their dogs have died - usually from heat/dehydration); and 3., no cages (my dog has never been caged and would probably have a nervous breakdown if caged overnight). Camp Run-A-Mutt exceeded all my requirements and expectations. The staff treats Hugo like a member of their own family. When he boards, it's "free range," with dogs sleeping on comfy beds, chairs or couches. Also, they maintain "muttcams" so that you can check up on your dog during the day (though, I try to give Hugo his space ). I like that before a dog can attend Camp Run-A-Mutt, the staff conducts a "temperament test." They are exposed to a mild-mannered dog in a controlled setting to determine whether the dog is suitable. I have had friends whose dogs have failed the test (oh, the shame! ). Most of all, Hugo loves going there and I have piece of mind that he's safe and in good hands. He loves it so much that when I pick him up at the end of the day, he has to personally say goodbye to all the staff members.

    Overcrowded/dangerous dog daycare

Fun (not) things to know about about this place: -There's no official limit, so they overcrowd their small yard (up to 120 dogs on weekends and holidays) for more profit. They'll claim they use "multiple" yards which they ONLY do for short periods. -They accept aggressive dogs despite their claims otherwise. Watch the cameras and you'll see at least one daily traumatic dog fight due to rough play or aggression. Poor staff, likely getting injured breaking up fights all day. -constantly understaffed. During openings and closings, there may be only 2 staff supervising 60-80+ dogs? -Most of these reviews seem to be incentivized by the company to gain numerous 5-star ratings. SUPER MISLEADING!! Your dog is just a number to them and their welfare will not be cared for like they truly deserve.

We are grateful to James of BB who placed us with Jenna. Our boys issues: high reactivity outside, especially other dogs, and inside, door bell, ring cameras, etc. Coupled with greetings by jumping and owning the house. Jenna set us on a path of activities for inside and was incredibly patient letting me share and ask questions, learning constantly. As we fine-tuned and we all got more comfortable we moved our training to outside. The methodology used is absolutely amazing and, I dare say, short of a miracle. We practice regularly and introduce the boys to different circumstances. All that food luring and positive food reinforcement training certainly has its place but only the techniques of BB with Jenna has helped our boys become trusting, comfortable, and happy. Here I thought I had to scan the horizon constantly to be aware of incoming dogs to prepare myself to hide behind a car or go in the corner behind garbage cans to get maximum distance. Not true. I walk no longer with my head on a lazy susan. We all are forever grateful. Our boys can lead richer more social lives. Thank you!!!

As first-time dog owners, the early support really did help us. Having someone we could call during those overwhelming first months was a relief. Over time, though, I realized I was hoping the training would shift toward more positive reinforcement. The constant, harsher corrections worked at first but eventually didn't seem effective anymore and started affecting my relationship with Mimi. I noticed this during a family trip where Mimi, who is usually fearful of strangers, bonded more easily with my husband and his family. She gravitated toward them when scared, and I realized it might be because they weren't following the correction-heavy approach, while I was. I also asked for help with Mimi's fear and reactivity toward other dogs, but was told they didn't have dogs available for training and that I would need to bring a calm, socialized dog myself. As a non-trainer, that was very hard, but we tried by traveling many hours to introduce her to my husband's family dog. The experience ended up being chaotic since the family didn't fully understand what the process required, and new people and dogs kept appearing even though Mimi wasn't ready. Her reactivity came back in that environment, which made me feel like the training had only put a bandaid on deeper fear issues. Maybe I should have clarified expectations better from the start, but with a high-need dog and being new to all of this, I didn't know what to expect. Since then, we've switched to a positive reinforcement trainer who organizes structured group activities. Mimi is still scared of bigger dogs and can still be reactive, but she's improving slowly and has been able to meet a few smaller dogs. She's also still fearful of people, but she nips a lot less now, so progress is happening. Overall, Bark Busters helped us in the beginning, but long-term we found that a different, more positive approach has been a better fit for Mimi.

When Ruth stays for the day, she stays in their suite and probably loves the break from Walter. Walter goes into the playgroup with the other pups. They asked for all the vaccinations and will ask for updated vaccines as well, which we love and feel very comfortable with. We know we stay up to date with everything and we want to be sure our pups are around other pups that have everything updated as well. We love the report cards.
