Camp Run a Mutt CV - Halloween photos!!
    Miriam F.

We love bringing our fur babies to Camp Run-A-Mutt Chula Vista! We've been coming here for years, and our dogs are senior now, the staff always takes such amazing care of them. Everyone is so friendly, patient, and genuinely loves what they do. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They even host fun little events like taking Halloween pictures with the pups, which we absolutely love![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's clear they treat every dog like family. Highly recommend!

I have been taking my pet Gunner for couple years now. Gunner has been going there for boarding and occasionally daycare Since he was 6 months old and now 2 years old. It's by far the best place for him. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He loves going there and I go on vacation knowing he is well taken care of.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I love they have the bath available ao he comes home clean. Thank you Camp-Runamutt for your service and kindness.

    Hose time is her favorite!!

Kalani loves coming here! The staff is wonderful, and the big yard gives her plenty of room to play and burn off that shepherd-mix energy. I really appreciate that it's completely cage-free, and it gives me such peace of mind knowing that when she has overnight stays, there are humans with her the whole time. Couldn't ask for a better place for my girl!

I've been using CRAM for 6 years for daycare and boarding for all my animals.[[HIGHLIGHT]]I had a medical emergency and needed to extend my dog's stay for a few days.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I tried to call to ask how I can get extra food to him or pay extra money for someone to get it since I am currently in the ICU. I called 12 times today from 8am to noon today to try and get ahold of staff. I got no answers and the phones kept ringing and ringing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I checked the cameras to make sure everything was alright and was astonished to see 1 person in the yard with so many dogs. Is this normal ? I tried to check the other cameras and only 2 of them were working. I have always had good experiences with staff in the past but this was unacceptable service and I will not be bringing my animals here anymore. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had to call my neighbor whom just had a baby to go pick up my dog since I don't have any living family in the area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This place unfortunately has really gone downhill.

Mold by the water fountain and algae / mold between the turf and tube . Really camp run a mutt ?

I would like to take my dogs here but after looking on the cameras I will not ! You can see black mold which is DISGUSTING and not safe at all!

I take me Pebbles to camp a few times a month, she loves it, and always come back so tired she gets lots of rest after. She is so excited to go there, they treat her so well and I am always surprised the know her so well. I love that they take care of her like I do.

DIRTY!! My dog stayed for boarding and came back with bites and a skin infection. I emailed them and they never responded.

Hugo jumping for joy at Camp Run-A-Mutt.
    Steve D.

This is a long overdue review. Camp Run-A-Mutt is hands down the best place for doggie daycare and boarding I have ever used. When I moved from NYC a few years back, I researched places for my Frenchie, Hugo. I had a few requirements: 1. Pet friendly staff (too many places have employees who do not seem to like dogs, which defeats the purpose); 2. Trustworthiness (I've read numerous news articles describing vacationing families receiving telephone calls that their dogs have died - usually from heat/dehydration); and 3., no cages (my dog has never been caged and would probably have a nervous breakdown if caged overnight). Camp Run-A-Mutt exceeded all my requirements and expectations. The staff treats Hugo like a member of their own family. When he boards, it's "free range," with dogs sleeping on comfy beds, chairs or couches. Also, they maintain "muttcams" so that you can check up on your dog during the day (though, I try to give Hugo his space ). I like that before a dog can attend Camp Run-A-Mutt, the staff conducts a "temperament test." They are exposed to a mild-mannered dog in a controlled setting to determine whether the dog is suitable. I have had friends whose dogs have failed the test (oh, the shame! ). Most of all, Hugo loves going there and I have piece of mind that he's safe and in good hands. He loves it so much that when I pick him up at the end of the day, he has to personally say goodbye to all the staff members.

    Overcrowded/dangerous dog daycare

Fun (not) things to know about about this place: -There's no official limit, so they overcrowd their small yard (up to 120 dogs on weekends and holidays) for more profit. They'll claim they use "multiple" yards which they ONLY do for short periods. -They accept aggressive dogs despite their claims otherwise. Watch the cameras and you'll see at least one daily traumatic dog fight due to rough play or aggression. Poor staff, likely getting injured breaking up fights all day. -constantly understaffed. During openings and closings, there may be only 2 staff supervising 60-80+ dogs? -Most of these reviews seem to be incentivized by the company to gain numerous 5-star ratings. SUPER MISLEADING!! Your dog is just a number to them and their welfare will not be cared for like they truly deserve.

"Boot camp" options seemed extreme, so I called Bark Busters (BB), seeking in-home private lessons. Justin responded the same day I left a message, and we talked about my concerns with our new rescue. I decided to try the BB program, which ended up being the BEST DECISION for my pup and for me! Justin set up our first session with trainer/coach James. James spent much of the 1st session going through the goals, objectives and concepts of training, including a timeline based on reasonable expectations of my dog. James spent a lot of time explaining how to "read" my dog's behavior, and how to properly respond. He explained the concepts behind each step, which helped me to understand not just what to do, but why (thus enabling me to understand how to deploy the training to different situations). James also set up scenarios to practice, going through each step so I could gain confidence in what my role is while helping my dog settle. It really is about training the owner how to work with the dog. James provided summaries of each session, plus videos demonstrating how I can use different responses/techniques to reshape how my dog reacts to stressful situations. I saw significant progress very early in the training, and was surprised at how quickly we were able to help my dog understand his role (and to feel safe) in our home. The best part is that if I need more help, I just have to reach out to James/BB and schedule more sessions - this is included in the initial program. Given that it takes a rescue dog a while to COMPLETELY settle in, new issues could arise as time passes, and if so, all I have to do is call to set it up. In summary, Bark Busters is a GREAT dog training program, and James is a FANTASTIC BB trainer/coach! Definitely recommend BB to owners that want help with their dogs!

We wanted to find a new daycare for them and came across this lovely place on yelp. I emailed them to set up a visit and they were very nice and accommodating. Everyone is sweet, you can tell they love our animals and they are professional. We stopped in on a Saturday morning and were able to check out the play area from the window in the lobby (also watched the video on their website) and they let us into the suites area since there were no dogs in there. When Ruth stays for the day, she stays in their suite and probably loves the break from Walter. Walter goes into the playgroup with the other pups. They asked for all the vaccinations and will ask for updated vaccines as well, which we love and feel very comfortable with. We know we stay up to date with everything and we want to be sure our pups are around other pups that have everything updated as well. We love the report cards. Especially since Walter is so young, we like to see how he is doing with the other dogs. I added some of the pics from their recent visit. We haven't boarded them yet (not needed for a while), but we are working on getting them comfortable with her so that it won't be a big shock and trauma to them when I leave them for the first time. They've met with her twice and already love her. Just one of the dogs has extreme anxiety and separation anxiety so when I'm not around, they easily freak out which is why I scheduled for more frequent day care days before the boarding date in order to make the boarding less stressful. ** AMAZING - AMAZING - AMAZING **…read more I've been coming to this pet hospital ever since 1996. I've had a few doggies over the years..... It's been about 10 yrs since I've needed to visit an actual veterinarian office. Today was the day I needed to break that record.... My girl Luna gave me a fright. Home remedies weren't helping and I knew she needed to be seen. I called the pet hospital first thing in the morning to explain my concerns and to see if she could be seen. The doctor was completely booked. However, the receptionist offered to leave a message for the doctor to see if he could work us in..... We received a call shortly after to say that the doctor would be able to see us. YAY!! I was so very grateful & relieved.... Since it had been a few years since I've visited, I made sure to arrive early to re-register myself and Luna as a new patient. The front office was very friendly and welcoming. We were taken back right away and the vet tech Vianca was very helpful and kind with my nervous puppers. Dr. Jasdeep Dhaliwal examined Luna. He was absolutely amazing. So kind and patient. He saw that she was nervous to be there and sat on the floor with her..... I was blown away!! You could really tell that he loves taking care of animals. He's most definitely a special kind of person. Our visit was an amazing experience. Everyone provided EXCEPTIONAL service. Everything was straight forward and honest. No one is trying to oversell you things. This pet hospital is a true gem in National City. I am so very grateful that they worked us in and provided such a memorable experience. She is now 4 years old, and up until this experience, we've always received excellent care and customer service. Recently, I ordered medication for my dog and stopped by to pick it up before closing. According to the website, the clinic closes at 6:00 p.m. I arrived around 5:25 p.m. and was told they were already closed. After getting back in my car, I double-checked the website, confirmed the posted closing time was 6:00 p.m., and called the office. During the call, I was told that because there were no doctors on-site, they typically close the register at 5:30 p.m. At that moment, it was only 5:28 p.m. I pointed that out, and the response was that the register had already been closed. My concern isn't that the register normally closes at 5:30. My concern is that if customers are told you serve them until 5:30, then you should continue serving customers until 5:30--not close the register early. If your actual operating hours are different when no doctor is present, that information should be communicated clearly so customers don't make unnecessary trips. I want to emphasize that this one experience doesn't erase the great care my grand pup has received over the years, and I will continue bringing my pets here because the veterinary team has always been wonderful. I simply hope management will use this as an opportunity to reinforce the importance of consistent customer service and honoring the posted business hours. Sometimes a small interaction can leave a lasting impression.
