This Petco is hit or miss but overall it is ok. They seem to take decent care of the live pets. I went in for a dog crate but they were out of inventory so I needed to go to a competitor. Petco in North Ridge Ctr on Commercial blvd. Rose was my the trainer for my Frenchie. I paid for 4 private lessons. She was 10min late and gave me attitude because I had booked a 10am and she was upset it was booked that early and she had a very busy day. Well throughout the lesson Rose questioned the food my dog was eating and numerous other BS questions. My dog ended up with a 30 min session. Rose was nasty and talked down to me the whole time. This is our closet neighborhood pet store. The top reason we come here is to get my dogs nails cut and filed. We have been going here for about four years I believe, and I have always had great experiences with the people that work in the grooming area. One girl has been there for a while, and I know she always does really great with Cody. She is very kind and friendly! Everyone at the store is always very nice too! They sell small animals like birds, rodents (mice, guinea pigs, etc.), fish, and reptiles. There may be other things too, but those are fresh in my mind from our recent visit. read more

I have been bringing my dog to Petco since she was a puppy. We have used this location for clipping her nails before and never had an issue. My dog is now 10 and has 3 legs. My husband walked into this location -with an appointment after they canceled her bath due to her 3 legs to get just a nail clipping which they agreed to do. Once my dog walked through their entrance she slipped on the tile and the groomer screamed "oh no I'm doing that !" She refused to cut my dogs nails. My husband was horrified. This Review is regarding the Groomers. I scheduled a appointment for my lab greyhound mix for the basic grooming package at 5pm tomorrow. Got a call confirming my appointment only to be told that the time slot isn't acceptable for my dogs size because they close at 6pm. Given my dog is only 38 pounds and is short in size. I came here looking to get my dog groomed because of the great reviews but after this I will not be returning. Can't believe it takes a hour to do one dog. I received an email saying it would be delayed. That made sense since maybe it was coming from a area that had been hit by the bad weather. Then an email saying 1 cancelled. Another email saying a refund on an E card ? Then an email saying will ship 2 bags and ship 1 bag. So then a shipping charge was added. I ordered 4 bags to prevent the shipping charge. It is not me who requested the order be split up and 1bag cancelled. I called 877 738-**** and spoke to I believe Felicia and she was not really helpful. She would not credit the shipping charge. I asked her to CANCEL any orders as i do not want anything from Petco. As a long time customer (12)years I am very aggravated with Corporate Customer service. I rescued a puppy and bought a bag of Acana prior to me getting him home. I was told at the store the app after you by seven bags of dog food you get one free. I thought that's wonderful. I went on the app to update my puppies name and I then pressed accept. I had purchased pet holidays pajamas thinking these would be absolutely perfect. My pet actually enjoys wearing his outfits and I would have never though it was going to be a problem having the full pajama outfit (not a sweater) but it turned into a horrible experience. HOWEVER I ended up exchanging them the very next night (Sunday). It was late and I wasn't even aware that the store was closing (MYA) made sure she helped me more than could be expected she was a great caring amazing and good person not rushing me and helping pick out A safe outfit that would make me more than happy and pet safe. I placed an order on Sunday and it was to be delivered by Thursday. This was ok because I still had enough food left. Thursday came along and since I had not received it I called and asked what was happening. The order status said it had not been picked up yet for shipping, so I was wondering if I could change to pick up instead and was told no it had already shipped. Yet the site said not even picked up :/ Then I was told it would not be delivered until Monday! So I went to the store to pick up a small bag. Forward to today (Mon) and I have not yet received it. I check tracking again and it says tomorrow Tuesday. This is ridiculous! My pets need their food otherwise I would not have ordered it and it's not cheap either. So worst service ever. My friend had told me that this had happened to them yet I wanted to give the company the benefit of the doubt and try it myself. At this point I have to go to the store and get more food for them because, they are out again completely defeating the purpose of me ordering online! This is a warning for you who owns a big baby, for every one who has what they call aggressive bread- such as pitbulls, American bulls, huskies,etc... I've been here at COTCO, 2 weeks and a half ago because I wanted to enroll my 4 years old mix of American bulldog & Stafordshire in the adult dog training. I arrived and I looked for the dog service program as proposed in their web site. What happened first was that there was a guy there but he doesn't looked to want to give me any information. I soon learned that he was the dog trainer. (CHRIS)! I was with my dog, so that the trainer, or whoever was the responsible for the training programs, could see what my dog would need to start. It was a very hard time. He was super excited to be in a public place full of dogs whose families were completely afraid to come close to us. But I kept my patience and I tried to kept my dog under control. Few minutes after, the trainer finally decided to give me some info about their program. While I was explaining to Chris what I need, some costumers arrived, (the training area is right in the front of the entrance.) Another problem was that he had a schedule with another person to train a dog. He couldn't be there giving me information. So he called another girl to help me. My dog was agitated and he tried to leak her, she complained that she hates dogs leaking her... but I was very much annoyed already to say something. Believe me, my dog is 74 pounds, so holding him while trying to understand values and all about their programs was stressful. In any moment I felt any love coming from anybody, only from the costumers there. Well anyways I've decided to buy the complete program, even knowing that my "baby" already knows how to seat, down, roll over, and stay!!! I choose the 6 weeks program for adult dogs. Nobody told me how the classes would be hold. I understood that two weeks from that date I should bring my dog 3 pm for His class. FOR ADULT DOGS. Well, today I arrived 15 minutes in advance with my husband and our dog. Chris was there, I walked in and I said hello. He looked at me as he had never seen me before. He looked at my husband and dog like we were disturbing the place, because off course my god was excited there. I shake his hand and he continued looking at me like I was crazy. I try to say that I was there for my dog's class but he continued walking and I stayed there with an empty feeling. My husband walked our dog into the store and another employee came... that guys which I can't remember the name was very lovely thanks god!!!! Actually this Star is for the two beautiful employees that helped me there. Well after some minutes more people started to arrive with puppies ownnn, my baby wanted to smell them, try to approach but every owner was so afraid of my dog that they were trying to hide from us. I felt completely uncomfortable . My dog never attacked a dog. But off course he was stressed because we got to hold him in order to make people feel SAFE!!! The trainer, Chris asked us to enter the training area. So far, so good!! But for my surprise, more and more dogs started to enter the area followed by their families. My dog tried to approach the puppies, and again nobody was willing to let the dogs know each other... Chris asked my husband and me to hold my dog in the corner and made him look at the wall to make him forget about the others... WHAT???? Them he asked if my dog had taken all the vaccinations! WHAT??? Oh my God, the moment I did his registration I told them everything about my dog... he is like my son, he sure has more caring them most children I know!!! My dog couldn't stop barking desperately, loudly because he just wanted to play. He just wanted to be nice and everyone was so disturbed and afraid of us. Finally Chris asked us to go outside the training área, he offered us to come another time for a PRIVATE class. Now after what they have put my dog and I through, I decided to cancel this program and never ever come back to this people. Zero for the trainer, who only knows to train puppies, and whose patience is close to 0. People ask help when they have an issue!!! Zero for his spray tool.. which made my dog even more stressed... and a huge 10 for that 2 amazing attendant who helped me to end this contract. I'm very sad! We came in and spent over one hundred dollars on supplies for our new puppy. The employees were very friendly and helpful. They gave us coupons which we used for our purchases. They also gave us a coupon for a free exam at their veterinary clinic. I made the appointment and then confirmed it through e-mail the day before we brought our dog in. It was 10:00 in the morning and they said the veterinarian wasn't there yet. Really? He can't get to work by 10:00? We waited for 30 minutes and he hadn't showed up. During that time we were given an estimate to have our dog spayed. It was twice the amount of three quotes we got from other vets. We left without seeing the vet. My conclusion....it's a great place to buy pet supplies but don't ever take your dog to the vet there. read more

I can't believe I haven't left a yelp review for Rocky. I met Rocky 5 years ago and he helped us with our new baby. Cody has been going to Rocky almost 5 years for grooming. He is hands down the best with him. I have used one other female there when he wasn't available and I did not like his cut. I am so glad that we've been consistent with Rocky and that he's still there. Even though, there is a closer location near me, I will continue going to Rocky. Petco Vaccination Clinic is complete garbage. So our chihuahua was acting strange and went in to get exam, was told by doctor that she had a stage 3 heart murmur which we have known about for the past couple years. We did opt out of blood work and X-rays, simply because it seemed more like her being backed up. He brought up her teeth and prescribed antibiotics and basic digestive meds. The next day I had an off feeling that she was suffering because of not eating. We went to Banfield and got another exam, immediately we were notified the heart murmur was possibly stage 5 and would need X-rays and blood work. 2 hours later the vet showed an enlarged heart and and went over PVC meds and explained that the 200$ I paid for meds were usually only used for cats. Banfield immediately started heart meds and appetite stimulation meds. She is doing a lot better, just had 20th birthday. I wouldn't recommend this vet to care for anyone's pet. We tried to contact them to return meds and I got the runaround. CEO never responded to email. This facility is garbage, the vet/DR. Copper is an idiot. Our baby could have died because of this completely inaccurate Examination. Go to Banfield for a wellness plan! They deserve a negative rating, I'm sure this company will end with a lawsuit! read more

I have religiously used Petco services since I got my puppy in February. He's been to Puppy 101 courses and now enrolled in Adult Level 1. He's over 100 pounds, and is still reactive when he sees other dogs (although he's never bit one or been in a fight before). He barks and tugs on his leash, which I let Petco know in advance every time I bring him in for grooming. I had an appointment today, which I confirmed via phone on Friday. I notified them during that Friday call that he's huge and reactive, and that I may need assistance guiding him into the salon -- which they said was fine. I ALSO left him in the car and walked inside to double check before I brought him out, and they told me to bring him in. He came in, saw another dog in the grooming chair, and started barking and tugging on his leash. Not only did the staff cancel my appointment on spot, but their only accommodation was to reschedule for Dec 18th AND pay a VIP fee to have him serviced as the first appointment of the day. I offered to wait until the end of today to squeeze him in, but they said they couldn't do it. They also implied that my dog was untrained, and didn't know basic commands. He's a German Shepherd puppy -- a breed known to be alert/vocal. And you would think a pet franchise that services animals would have the patience/understanding of aggressive vs reactive behaviors. I will never come to this store again. They totally dismissed my circumstances, even though he's been to other Petco salons, I called on Friday and gave a heads up, and walked in to remind them before bringing him inside. If you're looking to set fire to a big pile of money, sign your dog up for training 101. You'll be told you're training with "Debbie," a seasoned dog trainer who has trained two dogs of my mothers, I should mention. What you'll ACTUALLY get is a 12 year old girl, who is "learning" how to become the next Debbie. Aside from that, you'll pay for an hour of "training," that consists of learning 1 "new trick." You'll practice that trick once, maybe twice. After all the dogs have gone, they do 20 minutes of play time at the end of class. If your dog can't pick something up (like a new trick), the little girl will essentially say, "I don't know. Keep trying. Keep practicing," while offering no real suggestions. Worse than this, and what truly frustrates me, is that we had to reschedule two classes. We called now TWICE to reschedule. DO you think anyone has called us back? No. Not at all. After we missed a class, we brought our dog back in. The little girl reviewed the lesson from last week (in 5 minutes). Then we practiced that, learned one new trick and had play time. We learned legitimately nothing. Our dog knows how to sit (prior to coming in) and how to shake hands (prior to coming in). He's leaving with he same skills he came in with. Still barking, still stressed in social situations, etc. AND NOW, we're spending MORE money to train him with a CAPABLE trainer who actually has their certifications and stays up-to-date on how to train all types of dogs. We're not going to bother finishing the last two classes, because at this point, it's a bigger time suck than it is a HELP. read more

I love love this location !!! This fabulous location is at the intersection of Dixie highway and commercial. Plentiful parking for you and your animal friends. They have a handy little Salon attached to the store which is perfect. I Bring the puppies here to have their hair did mainly. But I do my shopping here as well. What I love most about the salon is their loving attitude toward your pups.. They obviously are in the right place and are very sincere. After a few appointments they know you by name and know what you like. I highly recommend Debbie who's the salon manger. She's always done a superb job. They give you a 4 hour window which is a nice break away from the kids but always finish in about 2. As far as the store they all are very knowledgable and willing to help. I went to this petco location on Saturday 10/01/2016 and I couldn't be happier. They gave me a puppy discount booklet that considerably brought the price down. This store has the most in efficient staff working in it. I have been there numerous times and three of the times I have stood at the cash register with no-one to ring me up for over 5 minutes, all three times I have left the items on the register and just walked out. I guess that they are the chosen few that do not need the business in this economic slump. One positive is that they recently just hired a young gentleman that appears to be really helpful and friendly so maybe things are looking up.
