Scheduled a grooming for my dog. Upon entering, I must say the customer service at the grooming counter was nice. No complaints there. They explained things, smiled, was very polite and this is the normal experience at most Petco's around Florida. However, the main cashier for all other purchases, a young girl, just wasn't polite at all. No smile, barely any response to questions, the bare minimum, which is strange to me because one thing I have always loved about Petco is they have always been known for their friendly staff. I didn't feel that vibe here. Now this was my first time using their grooming service and the grooming itself was okay. It wasn't the best haircut but it wasn't horrible either. However, the groomer was super polite and that alone will bring me back. Too bad the grooming counter is only for those using the grooming service. But the main cashier is the face everyone has to encounter if they make any purchases, including grooming and this girl wasn't polite at all. Very short answers, murmuring her words, the bare minimum and I mean BARE! I will return again for my normal dog food purchases and maybe even grooming and I hope it gets better. read more

I've been here multiple times and always had a pleasant experience. I bring my dog to the groomers for her nails, teeth and ears. It was a bit confusing a few times when I first started coming, they said you can just walk in and get this done but then other times they tell me it's better to make an appointment. Just call and make an appointment. I work from home so I only like to come in the middle of the day to avoid craziness. They have a large selection of dog toys, food, and treats. I do like going to the doggie cookie section where you can bag your own cookies so you can get a different variety of choices. I have the checkout line they do have a freezer for doggy ice cream. You can get one or a whole box of them to treat your happy pup. After her grooming, I do like to purchase some snacks for her for being such a good do. The ice cream cup that I purchased for her seemed to have natural ingredients and not mystery ingredients. The stuff has taken great care of my dog since she is very skittish when it comes to getting her nails clipped. I'm gonna keep coming here as long as I have a great experience and I still live in the area. read more

Great store products however the grooming part of it is a total disappointment. Called 3 times for my dog nail trim but they never return (it seems that's how they operate). So then I called again where they never found my number with the call and then they told me (after I finally got the manager on the phone) that they DONT accept dogs who are 13 years old! So when I finally got somebody on the phone they came up with that excuse. The lack of knowledge about the animals that they sell is unbelievable. We want to buy a set up for our bearded dragon, and they sold us a complete set up with lights, lightbulbs, vitamins, as well as a sand substrate. When we ask them about the substrate because we had concerns that the substrate is inadequate for a bearded dragon, although the entire package is specifically for bearded dragons, They assured us that this type of substrate was completely adequate for them and that this one was specifically made for them. Our bearded dragon of 7 years passed away, just two weeks later, completely clogged with the sand internally. We went back to purchase another bearded dragon. We usually go to a reptile store to do this, but since we're new in the area, we decided to pick up a bearded dragon in their shop. Most of the bearded dragons were "damaged" and had broken tails. When they heard that this was our concern, they assured us that their tails would grow back, but being knowledgeable with bearded dragons we told them no they would not. The person had to Google this fact to learn that indeed they do not grow back. They do not let you hold him so that you can completely check out the animal you're purchasing, and to our surprise when we brought him home he was missing toes. Today we went to go take him back because we would like to have a healthy pet, not one missing toes or tails, (considering bearded dragons are an over 10 year commitment ) and the man who seemed very annoyed kept assuring us that their tail would grow back. Absolutely ridiculous to be so sure about something that you know nothing about . When we told him that the tail would not grow back annoyingly, he said. "They are all like that." he was very eager to just have us pick anything and get out of there. So we said we would take one of the premium ones and before we even got to choose he just took one out, put it in a box and gave it to us. He didn't even let my son choose the one that he wanted ... since this man who I think his name was Ray or Roy was clearly just so annoyed we decided not to ask for questions or anything and just left. The store should probably consider only selling supplies and not actual pets that they have no knowledge about. Or at least Google thinks before you give people the wrong advice to convince them to either take home a sick animal or buying things that will kill your animal. And if you're going to be selling these animals, be patient with people asking questions about them specially when you have no idea what the in the world you're talking about. This is someone else's pet allow them to choose them and be patient with the process don't lie and pass things as facts when you have no idea what you're talking about just to make the sale or get the customer out of your face. read more

The cashier, who was very polite informed me he is sorry but there is a "new" policy that requires paying 10 cents per bag. No fault of his own. If I known that beforehand I would have gone elsewhere. What a joke! Had I not had my dog with me (who was excited for the treats I was buying), I would have asked for a complete refund of my money and to return all items so I could go elsewhere. I buy a lot on Petco.com. I received a coupon for a free bag of Blue dog for purchasing 8 bags of food. I got my free bag at this Petco, and unfortunately got the wrong size. I went back the next day with my receipt and they did not have the right size in stock. I spoke to the cashier and the stocking manager, who told me to not return the bag because I would loose my "free bag" coupon, and to just keep checking back for the correct size. So, I kept checking back (5 -6 times) until it was finally available. I went to go exchange it, they wouldn't allow me to because it was 1 week past the 30 days since I had gotten the wrong size bag. At no point did anyone mention this 30 day expiration and it is not written on my receipt. I talked to the manager, Robin, who lacked on any customer service skills and was quite bothered by the whole interaction. Consequently, she could have cared less about my predicament and flat out refused to help me with the exchange. So I came home and cancelled all my repeat deliveries with Petco and went to a competitors website to purchase my items. One bad manager, lost a $500-$750 yearly customer! read more

I know the world is in a different and abnormal place right now, but when I go somewhere that I have gone to for 5 years and told I need an appointment for a nail trim when there are grooming standing around, what is the point. I told the young lady, that I tried to make one on the app, but there is no where for me to do that. She responded with "you should of called". The back aisle is almost impossible to walk down because of the carts with more inventory lined up, making it less than half as wide as it should be. I never get fish from here, not due to lack of trying but because no one is there to help me. So I ask for help from the person at the register and a lady comes over to "help" she says she only has small bags for fish. I said ok that's fine, she repeated herself "I only have small bags" so I say "so your not going to sell me any fish?" I just said ok and walked away. She didn't want to help in the first place and the fish would have been fine as I'm only 8 minutes away. The staff are all very helpful, friendly and kind. Tyler in PSL was not friendly, helpful or even nice. He didn't even make eye contact once while we checked out. I went here just to get a couple of fish for my reef tank. It was a very unpleasant experience and they had a dead fishs corpse rotting in one tank. I picked a fish from a different tank and let them know they should probably remove the dead fish before all them die. Well I get home and I should've quarantined my fish but I didn't. One was swimming into the powerhead and I just prayed it was feeling insecure but in reality it had the "velvet parasite". Now all my fish are dead including some I bought from other aquarium shops. Moral of the story don't buy any of their fish or you risk the chance of destroying your reef tanks and killing your fish with untreatable illnesses. Also the staff is very unfriendly so you'll feel better going somewhere else, very sketchy and strange behavior. read more

Was just looking at the animals doing nothing but enjoying the animals and the guy, Name on tag was Ron, Threatened to call the cops on me and my friends just for looking at animals. We didn't do anything but think the ferrets looked cute and he threatens to kick us out and call the cops. At the meanwhile we were only just waiting for assistance just for someone to hold the ferrets. Let me start out by saying I have been shopping at this Petco since it opened years ago. Originally, it was a WONDERFUL store, with great managers and employees who truly cared about the animals they were selling. Over the years, it has gone up and down, mostly gradually going downhill - however I have continued coming, and lately have even been enjoying shopping here again because the current employees are great. It was my favorite of all the chain pet stores in my area. However, after dealing with the general manager for the first time today, I will no longer be shopping here until he is replaced by a new manager. I am appalled by the smug, arrogant attitude that was displayed, and will not support a store run by someone so rude. He could've tactfully handled the minor issue, but instead chose a very abrasive approach without even attempting to be polite. After this interaction, I can only imagine how he treats his employees if this is how he chooses to treat customers! If you wish to continue having a successful pet store that people enjoy shopping at, you cannot treat your customers or employees horribly! There are so many other choices when it comes to pet stores now so purposely choosing to be rude is not how you keep customers. When a new manager is hired, I may consider shopping here again. On a different note, the way the poor reptiles are kept is highly disturbing, the other day I saw TINY bearded dragons that were in with kale (which they should never be eating, btw) and crickets that were bigger than they were! The crickets were literally CHASING the baby bearded dragons. There is literally no excuse for this because anyone with two eyes could see that the crickets were WAY too big. Highly doubt the babies will live long with this kind of treatment. Very sad, wish they would take better care of the animals. Also cages are almost always dirty and full of poop. read more

I was about to spend a lot for cat toys at this Petco but there's no way I would support a store that treats their animals this poorly. The ferret cage is so badly filled with urine that it burns my nostrils... so if it burns me, a full grown human, those ferrets who are significantly smaller, are suffering. It takes a long time of neglect for a ferret's cage to smell that strong, I would know I have four ferrets at home. Those ferrets are at risk for developing respiratory problems, this is a major safety concern for the ferrets and people who handles them. We reported this to staff and they did not care, their excuse was "well we cleaned it this morning." That's bullshit because that smell was clearly due to long term neglect. This store would get 0 stars if I could clearly they do not care about their animals. I am not spending a dime at this store ever again. Their cat encloser is also equally disgusting the cats eat right next to their litter box. If they're going to put cats in enclosure that small... They need to release clean it twice a day and it's obvious they hardly clean it once a day. unlike some other comments I love the Grooming department. We have Debbie groom our dog and she is just wonderful with him. We are disappointed however with the fact that over the past month or so this store has run out of dog food that we use for our dog. Apparently after leaving the factory the food gets shipped to a number of warehouses which slows the process down considerably. Why they don't drop ship the food from the factory is a mystery to me. read more

The woman that answered phone was very nice, knew just what beds I was talking about, retrieved them from the shelf, put my name on them and held them until I could get in later that day. Warning! Warning! Warning! My little shih tzu is the sweetest little guy and always gets groomed at Petsmart. One weekend I was not able to drive all the way to Petsmart and instead took him here. I dropped him off to an extremely rude lady but overlooked her behavior. When I came to pick my dog up, the lady basically threw him into my arms and said "I don't know what is wrong with your dog but you need to have him sedated when he is groomed. He was very aggressive" Now let me tell you that my dog is always around children and has always been the sweetest dog. He has been groomed his entire life by either Petsmart or a local groomer and I have NEVER NEVER had a complaint about his behavior. Even after this incident I took him back to Petsmart and still no problems ever. This really made me question what happened that day. How was that woman treating my dog? She was rude when I dropped him off. I totally think that if my dog really did display any type of inappropriate behavior it was because he was being mistreated or even manhandled. I know my dog better then anyone and I know he has never showed signs of aggression in my presence or any other groomers presence before or after that day.
