Had bad experiences goin for vaccines at 2 petco's. I take person - not a vet tech- in both cases overstepped their rank and told me no. In both cases the vets on duty said of course. I think petco beefs to invest in a bit more training. read more

I'll never use Petco for grooming again! Had a 1 o'clock appointment, there about five till, with a letter from my vet that the dog rabies was delayed for health reasons. This was because he had received other vaccinations and the rabies would've been too much. Petco would not accept the letter and it took him 25 minutes to tell me this making me miss my 130 appointment. Never again! read more

We brought our misfit Rottweiler in for his rabies vaccination. The doctor and vet techs were very patient and, frankly, brave, and we were able to work together to accomplish the mission. Furthermore, they administered the 3-yr vaccine, which we requested after we arrived; but they did not try to up-sell us on any other vaccines or treatment. I appreciated the professionalism and care exhibited by the entire staff, and we are certainly planning to return in six months for the crazy blood test in order to receive heartworm preventative care. Im visiting Vero Beach for a few weeks and took my Cavapoo to Petco for a full grooming appointment with Ingrid. From the moment I talked to her I liked her. She was efficient, informative, thorough with her 7-point check, helped me decide the length I wanted, explained certain parts of what I needed to sign, and was never once surly or impatient. Her estimated time for the appt was spot on. Truly wish she was working near my home. Will definitely schedule with her when we return to Vero. read more

This store is very large and nicely stocked. I dropped BJ off for a grooming visit. 8 am and at 9 am l got a call that he would br ready by 930. The store does not open until 10 but that was cool. BJ gets a little frisky, nail done, teeth cleaned and glandular expression and he was %old to go. They have little peek holes so you can see whats going on while your pet is being groomed. He was happy to see me and l was happy to see him looking all nice a done up. Check your emails for regular specials. We will be back. read more

Staff is rude and unprofessional. Avoid at all costs. They have absolutely no clue what they're doing in their so-called grooming "salon."

I dropped my standard poodle off for a half inch trim off his two and half inch length coat. I said I want a half inch trim, as in cut a half inch off, cut around his eyes and mouth well. The haircut person said "like a doodle?" I said I don't know. Like the same length all around like a standard dog cut ( not like a poodle). I also asked his tail to be left long. When I came to pick him up they asked me to go pay at the register before I could see him. The cash register person asked if I wanted to leave a tip. I said I haven't seen the cut yet and I am not leaving a tip until I do. He got an attitude and rolled his eyes. White male approx 6'4" large in size. Then they brought out my dog. He was cut evenly but instead of cutting off a half inch it looked like they only left a half inch. There were several spots that weren't cut at all. Large tufts of longer hair on his chest, elbows and butt were uncut. He also had several spots that were shaved to skin like his stomach and armpits. I was angry and the haircut person named Ingrid ( who did NOT do the haircut offered to fix it) she did her best but the shaved portions couldn't be fixed obviously. I called for the manager the next day. The managers name was Brittany. She offered a refund but was unapologetic, and borderline rude. I came in in person to get my refund and she again was unapologetic, unsympathetic and rude. Her tone and body language appeared to me to communicate that she was unconcerned and did not care about what happened. She said she wasn't there and assumed he was matted and that is why they shaved him but normally they would call first to let us know they needed to. They did not call and he was not matted. I would caution anyone going there. Ingrid was nice and polite and apologetic but everyone else clearly needs to be retrained. I will not be back. read more

Customer service was garbage. If you want to go in and be chastised on why you can't have any of the aquatic life, feel free to waste your time. They don't want your business anyways. We went in to get some fish and tank plants. We were finally offered help, if you could call it that. The woman asked us what we were looking for and informed me she would not sell me the fish I wanted because it would get eaten in my tank. Me being understanding and after an exchange between me and the associate of, i get it, okay. I simply said okay and moved on past I was not getting a fish from there. She did not care to circle back that I still wanted plants for my tank. She rather continued to tell me and explain that because there was a crawfish in my tank, he would eat the fish I wanted. Even when I said okay again, she continued to tell me ways I was not going to get what I asked for. She completely ignored my request for plants. I gave up, looked at my wife and told her I'd be in the car since she wasn't going to accept our business. My wife also wanted some fish for her tank. She was told by the same associate she couldn't have any fish because her ten gallon tank was too small for any of the fish she wanted. She told us ten gallons was only big enough for a beta fish and her tank could only accommodate a single glow fish. But she couldn't sell her a single glow fish they had to be sold in a group of three. Meanwhile they have betas in a 14 ounce container and have glow fish by the 100s in a ten gallon tank. The perception is this woman did not want our business and looked for every way to tell us we couldn't have anything. Save your money don't shop here. We ended up going to another local pet store. I got the fish I wanted who have been living harmoniously in the tank together with the aquatic plants I got from the same store. The misses got the fishes she wanted as well. So shoutout to the sales associate who knew everything and felt the need to waste my time and refuse our business in such an unprofessional way. read more

Had a 9 o'clock appt to have an 11 month old puppy groomed. Provided them with my cell phone number so they could call me when she was done. After 4 hours of waiting for the phone call we went back to the store and they said, oh she's in the back room. She came out looking like nothing was done, she still had a few knots left in her hair and she was shaking like a leaf. Her feet were not trimmed, the overall job was horrible. Definitely was not the work of an experienced groomer. This pup will not be going back. read more

Made an appt. for a grooming appt. earlier in the week for my dog. When I showed up for the appointment, the assistant manager, who was an ear distance away from my conversation with my groomer/stylist, interjected herself into our conversation and explained to me that they could only use their Petco bath products to bathe my animal. She claimed that it was against their company policy to use products that a person would bring from the outside unless it had a prescription label on it from a veterinarian. I told her that it was an over the counter shampoo that my veterinarian had recommended for my dog's allergies and they could call my veterinarian verifying that information. She insisted that it was their company policy and refused. I then asked to speak to her supervisor,Karen, who basically told me the same thing. I then told her then to just wet the dog since I had bathed him myself a week ago and he was basically clean. I even told her that I would pay for the bathing treatment part of the bill but I didn't want them to use any of their products. She then told me that she would be right back. Well, 10 minutes later, she returned and told me that they couldn't bathe my animal now for a different reason. She told me that since I told her that I gave the dog a Benadryl and because it is considered a sedative, that they couldn't bathe the dog since it was still in the dog's system. My dog was playful and alert and never experienced any side effects of sleepiness or tiredness from his dose which was given to him at 5am that morning. It is now 11:30 am approx... 6 1/2 hours later! Is this woman kidding me? She obviously wanted any excuse not to bathe my pet. I have purchased the Petco vital care plan which I pay $20.00 a month for and have been involved with the Petco rewards program for countless years. I also had my dog groomed in a different Petco location for over 4-5 years with no problems or issues. I recently moved and unfortunately had to go to a different Petco closer to my home. I will never go to that Petco ever again! They all truly need a lesson on customer service at the bare minimum. Never was treated so poorly in my life. I like Petco. We buy fish there. But their rocks are full bristle worms which killed our Gobi. I don't recommend buying rocks for your tank there. We were constantly finding them roaming around and they are disgusting. We told them about the issue and they basically said that's normal. How is it normal to infestation. Cmon people who buy your salt water babies go somewhere else. They killed my first Gobi and I was really upset. read more

Petco has the worst online return experience. I purchased a pet bowl online and was not satisfied and wanted to return it. The receipt in the package required me to call customer service to get authorization to return the product. Instead I took it into the store to return the item. But because I used my credit card through Pay Pal, which was offered through Petco's website, the only option was to give me a gift card refund. A store employee told me something had changed because previously they could. Petco's purchase and return policies should be clearly disclosed and online returns should be made easy. read more

Last two grooming sessions were great, but this time not so wonderful. I ask for a complete grooming and upon picking the dog up her body was clipped, but her ears, tail and feet were not. How do you groom a dog and do only some of the dog. The groomer fixed her ears and left the tail and feet hairy than I liked I get so upset, for what you charge I cannot believe they spend three or more hours and this is what the dog looks like. We have never used the grooming services at the Vero Beach Store. We called yesterday for an appointment for our 9-month-old pomeranian puppy to be shaved down. His hair is pretty thick and living in florida, he needed a cut to take off some of his hair so he can tolerate the hotter weather better. We called the Vero Beach, FL store at 1pm for an appointment in which we were given a 5pm appointment. The lady on the phone asked if we had ever used their services before, we said no. She said no problem, took our information and asked about the tolerance level of our puppy regarding grooming. She was concerned that if our puppy could not tolerate a full cut, then a modified cut would be done instead so that the dog was not so fearful. No problem we said. At 4:15 we drove the 40 minutes to the location and planned to meet friends at the nearby restaurant while our puppy was being groomed. We would pick our puppy up after our dinner. We walked in, stated our name and appointment time and the person asked for his rabies vaccination record. "What?" we said. The person stated " we cannot allow any dogs inside our store for grooming without the proper rabies immunization paperwork. Surely this policy made sense in the event that someone would be bitten by a dog--- but nobody had informed us of this policy while we were on the phone, otherwise, we would have brought the paperwork. Needless to say, our 6lb puppy was refused his appointment and we had to drive the 40 minutes back to our home, drop our dog off and drive the 40 minutes back to meet our friends for our dinner plans. Talk about inconvenient and unprofessional!!! If this is a policy of the store (in which I do not argue the policy as it makes sense) it would seem prudent that this information would be shared with new customers on the phone instead of talking in depth about a modified "puppy-fanny" trim!!!! Not one person mentioned or informed us to bring in any vaccination records---never. And when we explained that we weren't informed of this, the employees just stood there....., like lumps on a log .....just staring back at us.....like "DUH!!!!" No apology for failing to inform us, no "sorry you drove almost an hour to get here" ...nothing. Just stood there in stupor and repeated "we can't take dogs without rabies vaccination record". Yeah....we heard you....did you hear us???? . Very unprofessional and unorganized----this store needs to properly train their employees on proper protocols and policies that need to be explained to new customers prior to their arrival.......very unhappy with this store. I have a 5yo and 2 yo Yorkie. Took them here because when we went to buy food the clerk directed us to her as she specializes in yorkies. Paid $82.00 for both. My husband was in a hurry when he picked them up and didn't notice. Within a an hour of the kiddos running around we realized how bad their cuts were. I called back to talk to the groomer. Not available. Left our number. No return call. Called again. No return call. Our experience. I give a two because my doggies came home ugly but the groomer may have just had a bad day.
