The groomers here don't know what they are doing. Communication is nil. Brought pictures in and they refused to even look at them. They just do what they want regardless of what you want your dog to look like. At $100 a pop, I expect professional results that I never got. Avoid. read more

I shop at Petco because of their palsrewards. At this location I've shopped for my cat and once for a dog I was dog sitting. I've gotten him his litter (Feline Pine), wet food (Fancy Feast pate), treats, cardboard scratches, cat trees, toys, and a harness. In the beginning when my cat's supplies are low we'd add Petco to our errand run for the weekend. Usually we'd find the items we needed but after a while we noticed that some of them weren't in stock as often or not have the size we wanted. We buy the biggest bag / box so we wouldn't need to visit often. Once we noticed that, I'd try to do a order online and pick-up in store, same day or the following day; done it once and my other half pointed out we could just have it delivered to our home. Since then I have repeat delivery selected with my cat's items. I guess it removes the stress of making sure he has everything he needs and I wouldn't need to panic and find another store that has the same products. Shopping in store does help for certain things like cat trees. Need to see how sturdy they are and the material its made out of. Or needing something right away. read more

I have two reptiles myself, I have studied and have done research on these animals, I went in today looking for crickets but instead I saw this (pictures above) you have 7 leopard geckos in what I assume to be a 40 gal? Possibly a 20? Even in your care sheets it say (do not home more then one gecko at a time, 10 to 20 gal per gecko) but not only that, if you took 2 seconds and looked up impaction for leopard geckos you would obviously know sand is deadly. So not only are you setting up these lizards to die you are losing profit, you buy these animals at a price then they die. And if we look into BASIC care for these reptiles you see that they need 2 hides per gecko, one cold and once moist, I saw your heat thermometer and it is set to 80 on each side? I could go on and on about everything wrong with this store but this is my main concern. Everything that could go wrong with these animals is going wrong. STEP IT UP read more

Have shopped at Petco for 17 years. Over time the prices have increased drastically. When I moved here it didn't bother me that there wasn't a petco due to the prices. This one was built and wasn't impressed. Then this week while having my car serviced next door I decided to stop in and look for discounted cat food (I usually buy from Costco). Well I found the large bags of Blue Buffalo wilderness for cats marked down 75% off due to the expiration date. (For this who don't know it's still safe to give cats expired dry food for a few more months). Well the bags expired the day before (as in ONE day) and the cashier refused to sell them to me. He claimed it was illegal to sell expired food. That's a bunch of crock. I work in a grocery store and have previously worked for petco and none perishable foods are allowed to be sold after the date. He also claimed they would never mark their products down that low, insinuating that I did it myself. I will now only show at Costco and the local pet stores as I've had enough of Petcos lack of good customer service and ridiculous price gouging. read more

I was particularly underwhelmed by the employees of Petco. Being a huge advocate of adoption and having worked in the pet industry in years past...I was almost offended at their indifferent behavior. It's a pretty average Petco as far as inventory. I have noticed they now have an "All Natural" pet food section...I was hoping they would have my cats Taste of The Wild and was surprised they didn't. Regardless, what bothered me was the employees. First of all, we were never greeted and never asked if we needed help even though I must have circled the same employee stocking food like 10 times looking for our brand. Finally, I stopped to ask her and her response was, "Hmmm Taste of the Wild. Nope, we don't have that...but, you know we have OTHER brands that are, well you know...." I finished her sentence with, "comparable" and she agreed and went back to stocking food. She either didn't have a single clue about the food they carried or just didn't give a ****. Luckily, I am super versed in all the good pet foods out there and what would work for my cat, but what if I hadn't have been? I would've been lost and frustrated. When we finally made it to the counter, the cashier didn't smile once. She took our money, and gave us our receipt without a word. I know I can't expect much from a franchise like Petco...the only reason we came here is because I work all day, every day and the local store was already closed. We will definitely not be back. Went in for their grand opening.....tons of employees, but many of the advertised items were not in stock because "they are a smaller store"??? OK??? Found this to be true with subsequent advertised offers. Seems to be a disconnect between corporate and the local ordering. Prices are hit and miss, but they do have a fair selection, considering here on the coast we don't have much to choose from nor a desire to be raped and pillaged by some of the smaller / indie pet places. Their birds, especially the cockatiels all appear to be a wee bit challenged. Their eyes don't look clear, and the birds overall appearance seems unhealthy. They look like they have seen better days. It breaks my heart to see any living creature not look healthy, especially when they are being sold to folks who may not care for them in the most optimal way. The ferrets were all energetic and playful. Very cute to play with, but some were a bit spirited in the biting department. With time and handling they will calm down I am sure. I like the adoption Kitties from the local shelter. They all appear to be well cared for, though lonely. Take them out and visit when you go in to keep them socialized. This will help ensure that they will be happy and healthy (adoptable too). Staff are par for the course when it comes to not being too well versed in what they sell. Many of the coastal retail drones have this mentality. Minimum wage, minimum effort mentality. You are pretty much ignored unless you summon a clerk. Thus far, any questions that I had were better answered using Google. (sigh) read more

there was no cats, and no dogs, there were dead fish everywhere and only some of the staff was nice. most of the staff was very rude and ignored me. they were very disrespectful and very offensive but there was a few good nice staff members. it was also very messy and could definitely use a cleaning. it was also very smelly. i've been to plenty of petco locations where they do not stink as bad as this one. i definitely wouldn't go back there even if it was an emergency. i would rate negative stars if it would let me. add some cats and dogs and it wouldn't even be as near as bad because my grand pap once said "a boy needs a dog". read more

Anticipating a trip to the beach, I called to book a bath for the " grand dog". Same day appointment- yahoo!! Pleasant customer service, got in early with a sandy dog. $20+ bucks- bath and nail trim. Dog's happy, I'm happy...aaccchooo ... No stinky wet dog. Just wish the dog was allergy free. What we don't do for our kids..... read more

There is a young lady that works in the grooming facility (wish I knew her name! She's very slim and was working on Sunday, 7/22 at 11:00am) who is fantastic! I've brought my Lotus in twice now for nail trims. This girl is always so pleasant, great with my dog (she can be a nervous nelly when it comes to getting her nails done), does an awesome job of trimming Lotus' black nails (some places trim such a tiny amount you can barely even tell they've been cut) and always gets us in/out quickly! We're leaving the area in a week and I wish I could take this lady with us!! I hope management sees this review and gives this girl some much deserved kudos! read more

I had my overweight matted golden retriever groomed today at Petco. I just got her a week ago from a rescue. I was so impressed with the quality and effort they put into her. They had her on the table where people watched and I could see the care and skill with which she was groomed. I will definitely use them in the future. read more

They are very knowledgeable here, but the lady that helped me today talked to me as if I didn't know anything -- I only wanted fish. I ended up getting two goldfish. I only live 15 min away from here but my bag had a hole in it, at first I assumed it was just water from the outside of the bag but no it had a hole and was leaking and I barley had enough time to get home before the water was all gone - my fish are fine I'm still giving them 3 & 1/2 stars but no more holes in the fish bags please. read more

I have never had to wait more than a minute for a store associate to help me with a question, ask if I need help finding something or lavish praise on my dog. I scheduled a second apt for grooming and this time was actually given the appt. I was completely shocked when I picked her up. She looked adorable but I was charged $57. for grooming a chihuahua. Come on, this is a tiny dog, she is not a lab. Needless to say I will not be returning. read more

The 1 star is because his hair was cut. Everything else is a zero!! The groomer stated it would be 2 hours for full groom (haircut & bath), maybe a little over as I had also upgraded with a spa package ($28 more). 1 hour & 10 minutes later she calls to say she's all done. I questioned how quick it was.. her reply was that our dog was so good. So after picking him up & driving 35 miles home, I see he still has matted ointment in his hair from 2 days ago. He also has loose hair all over him. I call, leave a message and the groomer calls me back & says "well just bring him back & we'll take care of it". I told her that's 70 miles round-trip for me. So she says she will put a note in his file for a free bath on his next visit. This should never have happened, I would have believed a full bath to have been done correctly the first time. Now I wonder if he even had the upgrade of his teeth brushed, etc! And he has continuouly coughed since. Not sure if he was tugged on or if he was exposed to something that has irritated his throat So very disappointed. Beware read more

PLEASE, get rid of that stupid REWARDS Club nonsense, I had an appointment to get my dog groomed and they told me it was required I join the Rewards Club for them to groom my dog, I left and went elsewhere, why not just tattoo a bar code on our foreheads and swipe our face. Just give me service and your lowest price and forget this rewards stuff, you do not need my personal info to sell me products or services and track me. I can see the need for info regarding my dog, but I shouldn't have to join your rewards club. read more

I used to be a manager of a Petco up in the Seattle area. The manager of this store used to be the manager of the Beaverton store, or assistant manager, I cannot remember which he said. As a previous manager, I know what kind of service I should be able to expect, the price matching I should be able to expect and the ability of a manager to meet the needs of a customer if possible. This store and its manager fall far beneath the bar when it comes to customer service and satisfaction. I realize it is a super small store with barely any inventory, always carrying the priciest rather than rational item, but COME ON!!! I couldn't get a raincheck on the $1 fish that they had none of in.,.,..i mean there were like 5 species and they had none of them in inventory, I felt it was totally reasonable to ask for a raincheck, they said they dont do that on live animals (in my store, fish didn't qualify as "live animals" that we didn't give rainchecks for!). He wont price match on crickets, saying they don't price match on live animals...again, when I worked there, crickets were not classified as "live animals" (they are food). I had a raincheck for small animal bedding that they didn't have in for the entire duration of the sale, I was nice and only got a limit of 4 (BOGO), when it was unlimited purchase, but when I finally got to use it, because they finally got some of that bedding in, there were only 2 bags available, they would not substitute, and he didn't give me another raincheck for the 2 bags i had remaining on the one i used. This store sucks! The district and regional managers should be ashamed. (oh yeah, if they happen to read this...the facing in the store was atrocious as well!) read more
