I love rocks and was drooling over the minerals and geodes. I ended up buying a pink and purple geode and a purple amethyst while the boyfriend got a really cool rock (I forgot the type). The gal who helped us was a character out of a movie. She was charming, witty and very knowledgeable of her merchandise. She was happy to help take things out of the case for us to look at. Kids came in for a treasure hunt they were doing for school, and she treated them with great kindness. Even if you aren't into rocks or fossils, I would recommend that you still check this place out. They have beautiful etched glass, mobiles and other things to peruse on the other side of their store.

Art In the Park is a mainstay in the center of Leavenworth. It's runs from May through mid-October…read moreeach year where several artisans can be found in tents selling their hard worked, handmade goods. This ranges from professional photography prints, painted works of various styles, pottery, jewelry, artists who will draw you as a caricature, metal sculpting and much more. The tents are located right near the event gazebo in the center of Leavenworth. Hard to miss. There are Artists who find residence for the duration of the season of Art in the Park, but there are also new artists joining so any visit to Leavenworth will mean a good reason to stroll through Art in the Park if you like crafted works. In addition, the regular artists may have one of a kind works so if you see it once, you may not see it again and on repeat visits the likelihood of something new being for sale is high. If you're in Leavenworth, along with all the sights you take in, pass by Art in The Park. Support local artists and maybe find that one of kind gift or decor for yourself or a friend.

There were quite a few booths - probably 12(?). Fun and inexpensive - bought a great print for $6.00 for little one from Wee Cottage. I like how the artists don't have to deal with the transactions and you can combine everything when you check out at the end. So many Nutcrackers in one place! It was really cool to see all kinds and so very well made too…read more While taking pics is not allowed, there were a couple of spots where you could pose with the life size statues. They also had a fun kids scavenger hunt for cartoon and animal nutcrackers. You receive a museum band once you find them all. The nutcracker making video that was playing on loop was quite interesting.

There is a general admission of $5 which isn't expensive, but it's worth knowing before you go. You can see a small selection of the nutcrackers displayed near the entrance without purchasing a ticket so you can get a feel for what the museum has to offer before you decide if you want to go inside or not. For me it was just okay, and while I appreciate the impressive collection of nutcrackers from around the world, I'm not all that passionate about nutcrackers to be honest. If you're a collector or an antique lover or someone who really enjoys nutcrackers, I think you'll have a great time here. if you're just looking for something to do while you're walking around Leavenworth, I recommend taking a look at the free display and then deciding whether it's worth the admission for you.

She bought a red and black one for $100 that came with the apron and white blouse with the adjustable bust. My friend was THRILLED. This store sells genuine cookoo clocks, German Erzgebirge Pyramids, nutcrackers, and all kinds of tchotchkes. Some trinkets dripping with sarcasm, others simply unique, I spent a lot of time roaming around in this Christmas store.

Every once in a while you go into a store expecting one thing and you find something completely…read moredifferent. I will not be the case at the store! As the name suggests, it's a Christmas themed store that truly does justice to Christmas. It may actually be adequately name the nutcracker store as the selection of nutcrackers here is unlike anything I've ever seen. Do you need a nutcracker it looks like the mouse from the ballet? Got it! Do you need a center nutcracker? We've got that too. Do you need R2-D2 his nutcracker form? Not a problem. They've literally got an entire wall of the store dedicated to any and all things that will crack nuts for you. If got plenty of other Christmas related goodies as well including expensive ornaments and other Yuletide pleasantries. To that end, it's an OK place to bring your kids in, but you have to keep an eye on them as just about everything here is very breakable and often outside of a container. I can imagine the you break it you buy it rule comes into play a lot here, but it certainly shouldn't dissuade you from coming and checking it out. Since this is probably the place that Santa comes to shop, you probably should too.

We saw this Old Time Photo shop and really wanted to get into the spirit so we walked downstairs to check it out. They said they were booked up but they had an appointment about 90 minutes later. We booked the appointment and continued enjoying the city. When we came back, we waited patiently for the brunette behind the counter to finish with the family that had just done their photos. As we stood there, we began sweating... like really sweating. It was uncomfortably hot. Just as I asked if they could possibly turn the air conditioner up, the blonde employee burst in from behind me and said it was broken and then asked if we were her next appointment. You know when you get that feeling like you should just leave, but you think it's all in your head? Yeah... We were already there and ready to take photos so we went ahead. She asked about colors and gave us some clothes to try on. She had this saccharine tone that seemed to be created simply to try to disguise how condescending she was. She talked down to every single person she spoke to, including her co-worker. She was very unapologetic about the heat and incredibly patronizing in everything she said. She really ruined the entire experience for us. We tried our best to have a good time and at a certain point just started laughing at how red and sweaty and uncomfortable we were. We were relieved when it was over and we had to help each other peel the sticky disgusting costumes off our sweaty skin in the changing closet. The photo quality was really terrible. I mean, we looked hot and uncomfortable and unhappy, but the actual quality of the photos was bad. The 8x10 that we did get was blurry and since we didn't want to spend any more time there we just picked the first picture with our eyes open and then bought the digitals so I could look at them later. I did try to print an 8x10 of another one of the photos a few weeks later to see if the grainy quality was just on the one print we got, but it literally said poor quality and it's a total mess. We wasted over $100 here to come out with nothing but a blurry picture and a horror story. The only reason I'm not giving one star is because they are dog friendly, but I wouldn't recommend stopping here, especially if you're enjoying the city because this experience really put a damper on an otherwise lovely day.

I completely enjoyed our visit to this gem. So much so, that we went back a second time! It is…read moresurprising how much is on display, and the wonderful variety of Pioneer and Native American items. I loved the chaps made from Buffalo hair, and the old organs that won't play unless one pumps the foot petals. Of course, the outside village is an amazing collection of settlers' cabins and other structures, all with period-appropriate furnishings. I'm in a wheelchair; I found the museum to be very accessible. Admission is $10-12 at most, and Veterans are free. But seriously, consider making a donation anyway. These wonderful places require so much upkeep. We don't want to lose them!

On Saturday 11 September 2021, I visited the Cashmere Museum and Pioneer Village as a solo female…read moretraveler. The front desk worker was a bit brusque in their interactions, however there were a few of us entering at once, so it might have just been a bit overwhelming for them. As someone on a budget, the price was a little on the high side, however nothing exorbitant. The exhibits were easy to navigate and good use was made of the available space. Artifacts were meticulously laid out both inside the main museum and in the pioneer village. The Great Northern Railway car was open to exploration, which was very neat. The whole pioneer village was well maintained and a great way to get some context for what life in Cashmere was like in the past. I noted a few bloopers on my visit, one concerning geology and one concerning currency. Some people I know love bloopers, in Hollywood they are something that might go wrong in constructing/putting together a movie and are visible in the final product, and they feel it can add to the overall experience. However, I am not currently the biggest fan of bloopers, though I used to enjoy them more, perhaps I am just a bit rusty on their enjoyment value.
