From what I could tell on my limited experience here, it's efficiently run. The gates are split between two areas, so you have to go through the security to group of gates, and can't access the other side without exiting and going through the other security section. The planes are boarded and deboarded with stairs directly outside, rather than through a jet bridge. Luckily coming and going, the weather was nice, if it were rainy or stormy, it would be a bad time to get on or off plane for sure. My gate area had a Dunkin, a Hudson News and bar with a small kitchen. There was plenty of seating by the gates, mainly because they only have a plane leaving every few hours, so not to overfilled with other travelers. Overall, good experience and I'm sure I'll be back, though their flight destination list is pretty limited, luckily PTI/GSO is one of them.

Today's morning flight passengers (Allegiant from PIE to SWF Newburgh) are totally drenched, all clothing & bags soaked, with nothing dry. Passengers are freezing cold & flight will be very uncomfortable for all. Am sure many complaints will be filed! With all the recent upgrades @ PIE, would think that there were plans for some type of cover, even roll out temporary ones, when FL has downpours. (And we know how bad they can be!) I've traveled Christmas, thanksgiving, and after major events and it was always a smooth process. They recently made some improvements to the process and now the security process moves even smoother. There are not very many options in terms of food. Bar food restaurants and other restaurants like U le le, depending on the terminal. The blue terminal has a delta lounge. I don't believe there are other lounges at this airport. Overall I prioritize ease and this airport is very very easy. They do offer TSA Precheck, but they don't offer clear.

We had to park in the Dolphin lot so you need a shuttle and they don't drop you off at the terminal, but in short term parking. I find that extremely odd and annoying, especially since my return flight lands at midnight and I need a ride back to my car. The airport itself is small enough that it's so easy to get around and is my choice for flights. I usually fly Allegiant from here and the only gripe is that the food choices aren't great, but I understand for only a few gates they can't have a lot.

BLUF: Small, clean airport with local flair convenient to downtown Sarasota…read more Typically my husband and I fly into Tampa when visiting Sarasota since we have many choices on SWA. However, recently we decided to go right into SRQ and we loved being at our favorite Sarasota spots right after landing. After landing we were quickly able to navigate the small airport, get our rental car, stop for caffeine and be at The Ringling all within 30 minutes of landing. The airport is small so it's easy to navigate but that also means there are not a ton of amenities. We enjoyed local artwork and displays throughout. Also, the volunteers that provide airport information and tourist information were very welcoming.

Renovations can understandably cause inconvenience for current travelers as improvements are made…read morethat will benefit future travelers. But at 2 am, staff required everyone - without warning - to walk past the train, go outside, and then proceed down a long maze of ramps. We then boarded a bus and waited, until we were ultimately instructed to get off the bus, walk back up the ramps and around to the train that in fact was working and had just pulled away. We did not discern an apology or explanation, despite the fact that a family member already had difficulty walking. Hopefully just a late-night glitch, but you may want to be prepared during renovations.

We decided to make the drive from Tampa to Lakeland as we got a good deal on an Avelo flight to…read morevisit family. It took right around 45 minutes to get there from downtown Tampa. Parking was free (although we had to drive a couple laps around the small lot to find a spot). They do have a gate that was being installed that looks like parking may be a paid item in the future. Both the check in desk and security were very easy. They offered Pre check guests a ticket so that we did not have to remove laptops or shoes. Once in the terminal, they had a small snack bar with a number of offerings. However, once everyone arrived for the flight, there was very few places to sit, hardly anywhere to charge your devices, and it was very hot. Overall, a very easy experience, but would hope that they put some upgrades on the air side once business ramps up.

It's nice, clean, fairly new, comfortable and the prices for fuel were better than most in the area. People are friendly. Enterprise is in the building making car rental easy. A nice little cafe is also in the building. Will keep this in our "remember" list.
