When we woke up, we showered, got dressed, spoke to manager & left. The balcony didn't look safe. The room needed maintenance.

Our room ended up in the annex section. Behind the hotel is open green space that I'm pretty sure belongs to the hotel, and backs onto the Otonabee River. It's very pretty and picturesque and I think a nice place for like an outdoor wedding. Our room itself was pretty standard. We had a queen bed, couch, coffee table, flat screen TV, microwave and small fridge. The bathroom is small and is just the toilet and bath tub. The sink is outside of the bathroom. There's a gym and a pool, neither of which were used by us. Lots of free parking. The breakfast area is nice. Since our stay was during the Covid-19 Pandemic (not our preferred time to travel, but our journey was ultimately for an interment), the hot food was served in "to-go" pre-packaged servings by an attendant (it was a breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg and cheese on an English muffin when we were there). The attendant also serves you coffee and tea. Everything else is single serving individually wrapped and you can serve yourself with those (e.g bottled juice, yogurt, packaged pastries, granola bars, etc.). The dining room was open, with tables spaced out, but we opted to eat in our own room. I was satisfied with the Covid precautions. We paid around $120 a night. I would stay here again. Hopefully next time under happier circumstances, both personally and from a global health perspective.

The owners are very welcoming and helpful, as I was travelling with a friend Doug was trying to save us from paying for two rooms and giving various suggestions to sharing, which I felt was very nice of him. Coming from downtown noisy Toronto, I appreciated the peacefulness of this lovely house. Did I mention the rooms are gorgeous, clean and comfy. Love the place and highly recommend.

It is one of the very few places that lets you pay for a room with cash, while most other places require a credit card. Though our particular room was tiny, it seemed that they do a lot with the small space you get, as you get a mini fridge, a microwave, and a good selection of satellite channels. As well, it appears to be one of the lowest priced if not the lowest priced motel in Peterborough, and we were lucky that there was a room available, even though we went in the shoulder season, just after school-age students had gone back to school. It is rather minimalist in the food and drink offerings (no vending machines for food and drink), but for I and my husband, we tend to bring our own food and drink, so it was not that critical for us.

There were no extra blankets, and the room was too cold. We couldn't get the temp controller open, so we couldn't turn up the heat. Lots of hot water in the shower, though. The room could have been better soundproofed, but it wasn't unacceptably loud. Might be worse if the room is near to the laundry/ice machine. Breakfast options included waffles, yogourt, fresh fruit, sausage, eggs, cereals and baked goods. Free wifi worked well enough. We secured a better rate by calling the hotel than by booking online.

The moment we walked inside the premises, third hand smoke filled my nostrils from the lobby, to the hallway, to the room. Coin laundry, complimentary internet, mini-fridge, microwave, tv in room, the sheets weren't enough to keep me warm at night, having to run the heater or provide my own insulation from the cold room. Hot breakfast included which were bagels, muffins, hard boiled eggs, sausage links, bread, juices, cold and hot cereals. I saw other guests receiving the Globe and Mail newspaper but we didn't have one at our door either morning of our stay.

Maintenance arrived, tools placed on the counter, on top of my families toothbrushes!!!! I cleared the bathroom immediately of all personal items! Maintenance worked for 1/2 hour, but could not complete the job, they left to get other tools. 1/2 hour later, still not able to change it, a screw had to be sawed off. We needed to leave for the Funeral Service, we advised Maintenance had to leave. I was not comfortable them being in the room while we were out. **It was obvious that Covid19 protocols were NOT being followed.** Returned after midnight Saturday and checked out Sunday morning. Spoke to Front Desk Clerk Sunday, advised the toilet seat was cracked and pinched everyone, every time was used. Was told "oh well". So why was the CRACKED toilet seat not changed when house keeping cleaned the room before our arrival? Was it because it was never seen, as it was never cleaned? Would not surprise me. Very disappointed that this difficult weekend was topped off with a unfavorable stay at Motel 6.

Beware 24-hour cancellation policy…read more I never post reviews, but I feel motivated to share my very disappointing experience with unwary customers. It seems it's the only redress available to me. I wasn't actually able to stay at the hotel. Our car broke down this morning, so we had to cancel our reservation for tonight. I spoke to the hotel, and they would not budge on cancellation policy, so we're being charged the full $217 for a service not provided. I booked through Expedia, and one of their agents also tried to get the charge reversed, to no avail. The situation is out of our control, and the hotel's lack of flexibility is completely unreasonable. Unless you can predict the future with 100% certainty, DO NOT book at the Hampton Inn! Would give it zero stars for zero service and flexibility if it were an option. Needless to say, I will never again stay at a Hampton Inn anywhere. In response to the above review on another forum the hotel responded that the cancellation policy is set by a third party. Again, an Expedia agent contacted the hotel to ask for a refund on my behalf and was told that they would not make an exception. The hotel has pocketed almost $220 of my money for doing absolutely nothing. Just the extra expense, aggravation and lack of compassion I need as I now also have to pay for car repairs and delay my trip to visit my dying mother. Thanks a lot!

Free parking, adjacent to Kelsey's Restaurant. Their friendliness feels a bit forced, insincere. There's a waffle maker to make your own waffles. Their scrambled eggs aren't of the quality I cared for. If you want, go get some frozen strawberries, whipped cream, or maple syrup to really enhance your waffle breakfast. For the similar rate, I'd prefer Super 8.
