We are regulars in Cottage 1 and have enjoyed the lakeside views and the stars at night - especially the Perseids meteor showers when the sky's are clear. My girlfriend and I were disappointed this was a thing; watching the sunset by the beach with a cold one would have made my night, and for $300 for two nights I think were entitled to that. Other than that, cozy and great get away for the wknd. Just hide your drinks or youll feel policed while keeping the peace on your vacation. They should really make this a *u may be asked not to walk around with alcohol* rule. We get why its in place, but unless youre a drunken jerk, it shouldnt be a thing.

Thankfully, the person at the front desk was able to apply the group discount for my group. On the day of check-in, I was not allowed to check in early. On a separate occasion, I asked to use their bathroom but was told that there was no bathroom on the main floor that I could use. Front desk was pretty efficient and got me my room keys very quickly. The lobby was quite plush but because it had snowed, it seemed difficult for them to keep the lobby clean and dry. The elevator is slow and the stairs are a bit confusing. The furniture as you come off the elevator is a little sparse and seems out of place, as we had a writing desk and chair when a couch may have suited us better. The corridor seems a little warn. The walls were cement blocks that were painted over in a dull yellow. Our room looked like it hadn't been renovated in forever but it did have a fireplace, which we couldn't get working. There were no instructions either. The beds were not comfortable. There is no view. The outlets didn't want to hold your plugs but for one night, we would manage. We did have a problem with our toilet because it couldn't stop filling the tank. When we called, we were advised that there was no maintenance person onsite on the weekends. So, we got moved to another room. We heard from others that one room leaked into the room below causing a flood. The second room was a lot nicer, it had a king sized bed and a pull out couch. No improvement in comfort though. Television had limited amount of stations, nothing really for children. Still no view. Wing chairs had seat covers on them. The room also had a mini-fridge and a microwave and a 2 person whirlpool, which we didn't use. The bathroom was definitely bigger and much nicer. This room would probably be suited for a romantic weekend for two. The breakfast room only had 3 tables, which wasn't a lot, so, I am not sure how they manage seating there. There is also a washroom on the main floor but it has a mop and a bucket in it. The business centre looked like a nice table with a computer on it. The breakfast was very continental, with toast, oatmeal, etc. So, don't expect a lot but it's enough to get you started. For the most part, I felt that this hotel is run down but the owners were trying very hard to be hoteliers.

The hotel is a 2 level place. It a short walk into town. The bed was very nice to sleep in. They even had a hair dryer! The room was dated from the 60 or 70's with no upgrades. The TV didn't work and called the front desk to find out the inn keeper only came to give the keys. We called her and notified her that the TV wasn't working, and had tried everything, she told me she knew nothing of tv's but would come and give us another room. The Inn keeper arrived and gave us the adjacent room, first the key didn't open the door after juggling with it a few ttimes it finally opened. The beds were horrible, they had wooden slats to keep the mattress from falling or give it extra firmness since I don't think have ever been changed, the slates passed the bed by 4 to 6 inches, easily someone could injure themselves throughout or not noticing them. A big hazard. The bathroom sink was fitted with a faucet from a kitchen sink, the faucet almost reaching the edge of the opposite side of the sink. Horrible experience and would not recommend this place to anyone. I think this place is rented to out of town workers. Deplorable place, I don't know why it still operates.

Though our particular room was tiny, it seemed that they do a lot with the small space you get, as you get a mini fridge, a microwave, and a good selection of satellite channels. As well, it appears to be one of the lowest priced if not the lowest priced motel in Peterborough, and we were lucky that there was a room available, even though we went in the shoulder season, just after school-age students had gone back to school. It is rather minimalist in the food and drink offerings (no vending machines for food and drink), but for I and my husband, we tend to bring our own food and drink, so it was not that critical for us.

The restaurant is located in a separate cottage house on the property, with a beautiful, serene view by the waters. The service was exceptional. The food from 'forest/farm-to-table' were unbelievable. The mini duck egg omelette, the smoked trout, and the brownie x ice cream dessert with the lavender were my favourite amongst the delicious dishes on the blind tasting menu. You can literally taste the freshness in every bite! In April 2017 last year, Viamede Resort also went tip-free. They believe in paying their staff fair wages from the start, and don't believe they should burden guests with extra fees. From the day before when we drove over to check out the resort and the dining options right up to when we walked out the staff were all very fresh faced and friendly and took their jobs seriously. You could tell the wanted to help and weren't just putting in time. The Inn itself is a beautifully restored on building. Nice wide planked floors and subtle, contemporary decor. The menu is not large ( a good thing ! ) but considering the small size of the place there is more than enough choices. The chef is trying to integrate local items into the menu ( spruce tips! ) with some success. Overall our meal, wine, service, and prices were all excellent. This place would definitely appeal to someone who wants a nice evening out after several days of cottaging it. Although it is fairly sophisticated for cottage country it still has a nice casual vibe so you can show up fairly casual without feeling out of place. Give it a go !

Had all the things you would get in an apartment. It only missed a hair dry and shampoo. Outside that it was very big then a hotel room! Their is a TV and has basic cable like most places! Staff: the lady who runs it was very nice and friendly. Once I arrived we handled the money aspect and then she walked me to the room. She even showed me around and put on lights. That was a great touch I just was not sure if I should have filed her. (No idea of that rule). Location: right on the water and in fact early morning was nice to wake up and go to the back area and see the water. Negative I found: you will hear things and water in the pipes. If you like very quite it may not be good. You needed to bring shampoo and a hair dryer. NO internet but then again I never asked. Outside of the small(negative) things it was good.
