My entire experinece was the peterman brothers was seamless from scheduling to the day of reminder and pre-arrival calls, down to the professionalisim of the technician. The assinged plumber, Brandon was amazing and so easy to work with. He diagnosed and repaired both plumbing issues with ease and clear communication. Thank you, Brandon for your kindess and for getting ouelr broken toilets and shower working again. My family is new to the area and its nice to know that we have a go to maintenece and repair company for plumbing and heating & cooling! read more

I don't know anything about their plumbing and HVAC. I used their electrical service in May of 2027. The goal was simple: remove the overhead line feeding the house 100A 220VAC residential service with a buried line (via conduit) to the pole including an upgrade to 200A service, connecting to an existing breaker panel. Entrance to the house is a straight shot through the back yard to the pole at the property line with my neighbor, about 110 foot in length. The original estimate was extraordinarily high compared to competitors, but was assured by reviews and the original estimator that Peterman would stand by their work. The "re-estimate" came in at $5000 higher and that should have been a red-flag. The re-estimator basically said the guy who originally estimated it was a dolt and you can't trust salesmen. I learned later, you can't trust Peterman. I'm in the trades, but retired, so I know what's right and what's wrong. The purely electrical part of it is fine, but the execution of the upgrade was an unmitigated disaster. Nothing is square, nothing is plumb, conduits are off plumb and not properly tied to the house. I spent hundreds replacing or repairing damaged ties straps, fencing, pavers, etc. The original estimator assured me they could push the conduit through under the pavers and fencing. That was their first lie. They ended up bringing in a mini backhoe with a 30" (!!!) wide bucket to dig for a 4" pipe. They obliterated my back yard, digging a massive pit, laying the pipe crooked, twisted and stressed in the bottom after weeks and weeks of delays. When they finally filled in the pit weeks later, it had already begun to collapse on both sides, distorting the conduit even further. When the "field manager" FINALLY showed up on the job (he never once showed up DURING the installation even after my repeated calls to Peterman that things were not going well), all the work except the backfill was done. Although I agreed not to publish his name, after all of this, I don't think he deserves any protection: Austin Hale. He PROMISED me that this fall they would send in a grading company to smooth and reseed the lawn. It is so rough and chaotic now that I've been unable to mow it and now it has 3' tall weeds that I'm sure the health department will be issuing me a citation soon. Will Peterman pay for that? Don't hold your breath. I contacted Peterman this morning to find out when this grading would be done and they informed me that it was not contracted and there would be an additional fee to do that. In other words, Austin bald-faced LIED to me. I would never ask these people back to my home ever again because they'd screw up the house and property even more and then claim that "catastrophic damage" to the property wasn't covered under the contract and it would be an additional $250,000 for that repair. Idiots. For electrical, never Peterman. Any suggestions to somebody moral would be welcomed. For plumbing, I recommended Williams Comfort Air ("Mr Plumber"). Maybe not as cheap as the schmoe down the street, but HONEST. For HVAC, Love HVAC (a small local company) is excellent, founded decades ago, will to go the extra mile and HONEST. Note who didn't get an HONEST rating? They come across, assaulting you with their toothy, goofy, doofy grins every morning during the local news, as if they have a "hometown" morality about them. They don't. They are greedy corporate cucks. They do crap work, refuse to communicate with you during installation and will gleefully screw you out of every dime possible. read more

several months after moving into our house (built in late 1990s and passed home inspection with no major concerns), we needed our water heater replaced which was done by Peterman. The hot water was still running out afterwards so they were contacted again. They said it was an electric problem so a full inspection was done by their electrician. We were told the electric panel needed to be replaced and was a fire hazard. If we went ahead with replacing it, the oven would need to be rewired requiring destruction of part of the walls leading to the kitchen. There were also smaller electrical repairs that could be done as well (outlets). If we repaired everything, it would be around $9000. We got a 2nd opinion from a local electrician who had zero concerns about the panel. When Peterman was contacted about this discrepancy, we were told it would be escalated to the supervisor who would contact us but over several weeks we did not receive a call. Due to the conflicting reports, we got a 3rd opinion to be sure, and again, there was no recommendation to replace the panel and the repairs Peterman suggested did not amount to $9000 in their opinion. We did have a good experience with them prior to this (regarding HVAC) but if you plan to work with them, would strongly recommend a second opinion for large projects. We have ended our monthly membership with them and will not be working with them again. read more

In-laws called for yearly service check, after the tech left HVAC unit wouldn't work, Peterman was called and they had to wait several days for return service, tech returned and said they blew a 3 amp fuse by switching it from heating to Air cond, too fast. Charge $283 to replace 3 amp fuse and was there less than 15 minutes. The very next day the fuse blew again, they returned with the same story but this time they left a bag of 5 3 amp fuses. David White Services was then called and found a short in the wires. read more

I called about my hood vent not working. No light, no venting. a tech came out and said needed a new compressor. new compressor ordered. tech came back out to install. wrong size. ordered another one. came out today and couldn't get it down. finally did after three hours, only to find out whole thing is fried and tech couldn't give me an estimate on new one. I also asked him to order bulbs for under counter lighting as having trouble finding right one. they never came in. long story short: it's been 2 and 1/2 months since I called and neither issue has been resolved yet .by the time the problem gets properly diagnosed and fixed it will be over 3 months . ridiculous. I could've had major surgery and recovered in this time! why are the people ordering parts the ones not in the field doing the work?the techs out in the field should be putting the specs in. also when i called in to see when the part would be in I got a "I don't know".not even a "let me see when it will be in". I would've given one star but they showed up promptly when they said they would which is something. read more

A few weeks ago, while I was out of town, the fan/light in one of our bathrooms went out. My husband scheduled a repair. When the electrician came the first time she told him it needed to be replaced and to buy a replacement from Lowe's without any direction about what to buy. He bought one. When she came back, she told him it was too big for the hole and that he needed to get a different one. He asked for specifics, and she sent him an Amazon link he bought it. The result of the installation is a gaping hole in the ceiling around the light into our attic. To make matters worse, the light and fan don't work with the switch. For some reason the light has different colors. Every time you turn on the light switch you get a different color light. You have to turn the fan switch on and off twice to get the fan to turn on. We are getting ready to sell this place. There is no way this will pass any inspection. My husband scheduled each of the three appointments for early in the morning because of work. Each time they arrived late in the afternoon, forcing him to miss three days of work. This is shoddy work and they have a ridiculous process. Contractors should spec what's needed, get it themselves and come back and install it. Unless they get their butts over here and make this right, I can no longer recommend this company. On 4/19/24, I agreed to pay Peterman Bros. $18./mo. for its HVAC protection plan for my home. On 11/18/24 Peterman inspected my furnace and the attached Aprilaire humidifier finding only dirty filters in both.The technician did not have a furnace filter so I said I would replace it myself. It took only a few minutes for him to replace the humidifier filter, which I expected to pay for, since I had been paying Peterman's service fee for 7 months. I was shocked at the price for the humidifier filter, he charged ,of $224.85 against my credit card which Peterman had on file. I am an elderly man of nearly 85 and felt taken advantage of. The next day I learned this identical humidifier filter can be bought on Amazon for $18.95 or $27.99 for a pack of two! Angered by Peterman's gross overcharge, I called Peterman's Indianapolis office on 11/19 and demanded an immediate $200. refund. I was referred to the Customer Service Dept. who would call the next day. A Peterman Customer Service man called on Nov.20, who denied my claim for a $200. refund stating it is Peterman's policy not to make such refunds. I fired Peterman on the spot and confirmed this by email. I got screwed! To no surprise, I then learned that on Nov. 19, Peterman charged my credit card the $18. monthly for its plan for the following month! Refund denied. Screwed again! Had Peterman's technician changed both my furnace and humidifier filters that day the total charge would have been a whopping $424.26!! These guys play fast and loose with their very aggressive sales tactics by trying to scare you into buying very expensive "recommended" HVAC protection products. The technician presented my wife and me with 5 written protection options, unsolicited by us, with costs as high as $2846.39 for the "premium option." Similar to other reviews. Had a new unit installed yesterday (Thursday) in my house located in Columbus. Realized it wasn't working by Friday morning because the inside coil was completely iced over. **with a new unit**. Called 4 different times and got the same answer each time..."the earliest they can get out is Tuesday due to it being Labor Day weekend". Either they failed to install properly, or it's a faulty unit. In either case the customer service of Peterman is lacking. This goes without saying, but obviously they should stand behind the install and their equipment and work to correct it in a timely manner (less than 24 hours max). You might get lucky, but do you want to roll the dice on cooling your home in the summer? Keep in mind, they won't hesitate more than 1 day to get a comfort advisor and install technician to your house because they prioritize taking your money over ensuring you have quality service or quality units. I did however get more insight on the company and their best practices. I was told by the last representative that they no longer require on-call technicians, but rather make it optional to the techs. What this means is - there may not be a tech in your area that wants to make OT so you may be out of luck until your scheduled date (could be 4 or more days like in my case). Consumer beware, if you need quick service Peterman will not provide it. read more

Last winter, we used Fairfield Heating and Cooling (now Peterman Brothers) to repair/replace a faulty furnace blower, which they did fully replace in March 2023. However, the blower might have been the wrong size for the furnace and the screws would not stay attached to the cage, regardless of how many times we tightened them. The night before Thanksgiving, the blower broke again. We wanted them to replace the blower correctly, but Peterman Brothers had "lost paperwork, including our warranty, during the acquisition of Fairfield Heating and Cooling." That night, their technician "fixed" the blower, remounting the blower with new screws, but left without fully testing the furnace. It needed a hard reset, which he did not perform, leaving us (and becoming unreachable) on one of the coldest days of the winter without heat, until we figured out how to reset the system ourselves. Several weeks later, as temperatures dipped, the blower failed again and could not be repaired. We still could get no answer from Peterman Brothers about the blower warranty or to schedule a replacement. Finally, a week later, as temperatures became dangerous, they brought a new blower and installed it, agreeing to replace the parts for free but to charge us $1200 for an hour of work. We had no choice but to accept. While they were replacing it, they told us our heat exchanger had been cracked and we should not run our furnace that night because we were in danger of carbon monoxide poisoning. Temperatures were in the teens, and it was already nightfall. We had no option but to run the furnace all night. They sent us an estimate for a new heat exchanger the next day at the price of $6,432.53 but agreed to credit our $1200 fees toward future work. We believe that either the cracked heat exchanger was used to pressure us into more overpriced repairs, thereby recouping their losses, or they have been inept, ignoring a dangerous crack and not testing our system in any of the four times they worked on the furnace over the previous two months. Regardless, this company has failed to provide sound, safe, and client-forward service and should not continue operating. read more

He spent considerable time answering my many questions and was respectful that I wanted printed proposals. I told him I was starting my research for ac and possible furnace replacement and at no time did I feel pressured. We had a plumbing issue on a holiday weekend. The technician arrived and asked a few questions about what was going on. Right away I got the feeling that he did not have a lot of experience. He went on to tell us the machine he needed to use wouldn't fit into our bathroom. He had a smaller machine, but immediately said that it was very possible that one could cause more damage and we'd have to sign a waiver for him to use it so they would not be liable for any damage. This basically left us with no good options, and he (the professional) never took control of the situation to give us ANY options that would work for us. In the end, we paid $125 for Peterman to do absolutely nothing for us. We ended up calling Snyder's Environmental, and they took care of us like true professionals. Our journey with this company started in October 2024. The installation of the furnace was less than standard. It took 5 days for the initial installation of the furnace and heat pump. The initial team for the installation made several mistakes, including ordering the incorrect part for the heat pump(twice), inadequate parts on the furnace, parts not installed correctly. The second team found even more mistakes with the installation including the incorrect line size for connecting the heat pump, not understanding how the thermostat should operate. At this time we were not happy and had numerous recorded and written conversations with the company. We obtained a second opinion from another HVAC company that found even further mistakes with the installation. We tried to remedy the situation working through the various departments of Petermans all the way up to Chad Peterman. He kept insisting he could send another company out to fix the situation. Why would you want anyone from that company to fix the problems when they had not been able to up to this point. We lost time away from work and are still concerned that the furnace may at some point not function correctly. This project cost us over $20,000. We had initially asked for a refund and removal of the system, they of course said no. We then requested Petermans to pay for correcting the system, they initially said yes and then retracted and said no. We have recorded phone calls and emails detailing all of the above. We are educated consumers but this was a lesson we won't forget. Buyer beware, stay away from this company, it is a sham. read more

We had accumulated several plumbing problems in the last few months. The serviceman was friendly and professional. Of course the fix for the problem is always a shock as was the diagnosis that our water pressure is too high and needed a regulator, that was done. Our very old water circulator to keep the water at the far end of the house warm, had quit; he replaced it with the newest model and the master shower water regulating cylinder which was less than 1 year old and had broken before was broken by the water pressure problem, he said. I signed up for the Club because it saved a significant amount on these repairs. Peterman Brothers do not treat their customers well. After having Peterman install a brand new AC Bryant around 2 years ago (under 10 year warranty), when the unit failed at the beginning of summer they gave an almost 2 month wait before being able to service. After repeatedly calling, I got that timeframe down to 2 weeks. Additionally I asked for a manager and/or technician to call me to discuss. No one ever bothered to call for the whole 2 week time period. I hired another company, who were there in 2 hours. The were shocked at the way we were being treated by Peterman Brothers. The other company's tech added, "When we install a unit, that customer's issue is treated with priority until resolved". Maybe Peterman could adopt some of these business practices. I had the most chauvinistic, sexist experience of my life with the sales rep Josh Lighty. First off, and perhaps the least egregious problem, he arrived an hour and 15 minutes after I was notified that he was on his way. This was already after I took the entire day out of office and had to telework because Peterman Bros would not schedule any time frame more specific than a given day. Then the real mess started. The absolute first thing he asked me was if I was married, after which he proceeded to tell me things would get "lost in translation" and that he didn't want to spec out a quote for a new A/C and furnace until he could speak with MY HUSBAND. Is this 1950??? I am a PhD engineer. I am more than capable of discussing an HVAC purchase. Yes, my husband and I are partners, and we make such decisions together. We had also already discussed exactly what we wanted, and I relayed that (and the fact that I'm an engineer) to Josh. He CONTINUED to insist that he meet with my husband before writing a quote and insisted that he reschedule for a time when my husband would be home! By the way, he set a date and time with me for that (although I would have canceled it, because Peterman Bros certainly won't be getting my business), and yet I have not received any scheduling request or confirmation in the 4 days since. My husband was so irate on my behalf that he called the company and insisted that the man send us a quote, as I had told him exactly what we were looking for because I was fully capable of communicating regarding an HVAC system, and I still have not received anything from the company. I haven't had water since last Saturday...I thought the pipes were frozen and mentioned that to the technician....the pipes had frozen about 10 dsys ago also Peterman came out last night said pipes were not frozen but I needed a new well pump...the quote was $4700 and they would come back the next day to install. Now realize they sent out a technician NOT a plumber After speaking with another plumbing company and my cousin that is a retired plumber I find out that Peterman was going to charge me more than DOUBLE what it would cost elsewhere (quotes were $1500-$2000) I called and asked Peterman to explain why the quote was so high and they said they would get back to me..they didnt.... I get home today and remembered I hadn't turned the water main back on (technician had me turn it off yesterday) I turn the water main back on and I have water now!!! Thankfully it was warmer today and Pipes had just been frozen ....well pump is perfectly fine. So not only did they have no idea what they were looking at but they were also going to over charge by thousands of dollars P.S If you need a good plumber use H&R out of Waldron or B&B out of Columbus!! read more

Have had nothing but good experience with Peterman heating and cooling. Had a tankless water heater put in and furnace/AC serviced. All the techs were courteous and explained all the work they were doing. After service they went over what was found with pictures and explanation. Described items that may need serviced in the future and minor repairs to take care of now. Did a great job and delivered as promised. Definitely worth it to be part of their member program as it covers routine service cleanings of furnace/AC unit. Also covers labor should something need to be fixed. Great company. read more

He inspected our plumbing and made some notes in case we need help in the future. With the information he took down, they would have the right parts for the repair. My husband and I decided to call Peterman for an issue we were having with our a/c. It would freeze up and cease operation. Technician Carlos came out on 7/7 to take a look at our equipment, didn't find anything wrong except a bent fan blade on our outside unit. Fast forward a couple weeks, our a/c was acting up again. On 7/20 Carlos comes back out, only this time he discovers our hvac system is twice the size it should be with duct work half the size for our particular unit. Why he didn't notice that the FIRST time, I can only speculate. He was messaging with "his engineer" while he was at our home and said the engineer would be out to our house the following day to take a look at our hvac system for himself so that he could determine what needed to be done. The following day, I sat at home all day, waiting for him to show up and he never did. No call or anything. So we called Peterman and the lady said appointments for air conditioning were backed up into September. Which didn't make much sense to us because we already had an appointment and he just didn't bother to show up. It's been several weeks and we've been contacting the company trying to get our matter resolved with zero progress. Just a bunch of false stories that someone will call us but nobody ever does. We are even in their "membership" program to where we supposedly have access to the Peterman Brothers, yet we can't get a call back from them, much less a customer service representative from the company. We keep calling, and the person who answers the phone says someone will contact us...but still no phone call. It blows our mind how we had an appointment set with an engineer, he doesn't show, so then we get pushed out more than a month. If Carlos would have noticed our hvac was completely messed up the FIRST time he was at our home, would we still be pushed out to September? It doesn't seem like this company cares about their customers at all. read more

My whole-house dehumidifier needed to be replaced. The unit I needed cost $1500 on Amazon, but the price Peterman wanted to charge me was $3000. The unit operates on it's own and is not associated with the other HVAC units in my home, so installation requires a simple hose to a drain before plugging it in. I mentioned to the technician that the same unit was half the price if I purchased it myself and would he be willing to cut the price to be more in line with a purchase from Amazon. He explained that he was not allowed to negotiate the price for the unit and installation. In the end, I did not purchase the dehumidifier from Peterman Brothers because of the large difference in price. I write this review because I don't want other people to be taken advantage of in a similar situation where no HVAC expertise was needed to replace my unit. I'm not sure what I was paying for to justify the price they gave me. read more

My daughter called Peterman Brothers about a clogged drain. They showed up looked around and told her she needed a cleanout so that they could access the problem. After making sure that they got all their money up front. They let them know when they will be back. I own the house and I pay the bills so I can complain. They showed up about 9am and got to work. Low and behold they found a cleanout, but it needed to be more accessible. They dug their hole, cut the pipe . installed a "T", inserted a 6' piece of pvc and added a cap, and voila they are finished. Now they just have to wait for the inspector to come out an d give the hole the ok. Three people stood around for more than five hours waiting for the inspector. By then it was dark so they had to come back the next day to fill in the hole. They had a total of approximately 4 1/2 hours invested in the job. Mind you they quoted me 6215.00 for the job. So we had three people on a job that needed two people. More than half of their time was spent waiting and guess what. They still charged me $6215.00 for 4 1/2 hours work. They used about $40.00 of materials and they still charged me $6215.. They never did any thing to address the clog. They had to call them back to do that and they then told us they couldn't fix it. They then quoted me another $4500. to change all the pipes in the basement and I told them no way. As it is I have over $16,000. invested in getting this clog opened. Petermans knew we were in a bind because my daughter had been unable to use the shower or the toilets for almost three months. Imade a call to Petermans office and ask if I could get some of my money back I was told no way. Petermans worked by the "job" not by the hour' How is that possible. No two jobs are the same and the job they did at my house was well below the bottom of that spectrum. Let's see $6i75. divided by three workers at 4 1/2 hours labor minus $40. for parts . That equals more than $457. per hour each. Wow that's PHD money. I made several more calls to the office to see if someone could come look at the job they had done and I was told that they did everything they were supposed to do. They did refund me the $900. for the yard redo. Which makes the hourly cost even higher. Someone in the office checked a line that said Petermans has satisfactorily performed the quoted work in the amount of $6215. I never stated that. I wanted someone to come out and inspect the job with me present. What a croc. read more
