several months after moving into our house (built in late 1990s and passed home inspection with no…read moremajor concerns), we needed our water heater replaced which was done by Peterman. The hot water was still running out afterwards so they were contacted again. They said it was an electric problem so a full inspection was done by their electrician. We were told the electric panel needed to be replaced and was a fire hazard. If we went ahead with replacing it, the oven would need to be rewired requiring destruction of part of the walls leading to the kitchen. There were also smaller electrical repairs that could be done as well (outlets). If we repaired everything, it would be around $9000. We got a 2nd opinion from a local electrician who had zero concerns about the panel. When Peterman was contacted about this discrepancy, we were told it would be escalated to the supervisor who would contact us but over several weeks we did not receive a call. Due to the conflicting reports, we got a 3rd opinion to be sure, and again, there was no recommendation to replace the panel and the repairs Peterman suggested did not amount to $9000 in their opinion. We did have a good experience with them prior to this (regarding HVAC) but if you plan to work with them, would strongly recommend a second opinion for large projects. We have ended our monthly membership with them and will not be working with them again.

Pricing not transparent nor reasonable: We asked Lohmeyer…read morePlumbing to install a bath faucet and drain fixture for a stand-alone antique-style bath.   The original fixture failed and leaked. The plumber assigned to the job brought a helper to evaluate and quote the work. He also spent some time at the plumbing supply house determining if parts were available to fix the failed fixture. They determined that we would need a new fixture. My wife worked with the supply house and selected and purchased the fixture. Once we had the fixture in hand we received the quote for this installation.  I was dismayed to see the quote for the installation work was $3877.00! When I asked for more detail I was given a verbal summary of the additional materials for the work that seemed to amounted to less than $50. We notified Lohmeyer that we intended to reject their proposal. I contacted another reputable local plumber and received a quote for about  $400 for installation. I accepted the quote, and the work was completed quickly and to my satisfaction. The plumber and his helper spent less than 2 hours to complete the work. We then received a bill for $595 for the service rendered. Note that they charge much more to quote this job than a reputable plumber charged us to complete the job. If you work with Lohmeyer I recommend getting a firm quote before they start the work. Then again, I would not recommend trying to do this as I think it will be a waste of your time. I noted that they were a plumber that…read morequalified for Yelp's guarantee program, a neat program that I've fortunately never had to use. I did my initial contact outside of business hours. Early the next morning, I had a message from Adam B. Once I got to work, I returned the call and quickly described my issue and what I believed it to be. The first available appointment wasn't until Monday (it wasn't urgent, so I wasn't worried about going the weekend). I got my timeframe. I had a couple other appointments that day, so I ended up taking the day off so I could easily be available. I immediately liked that they told me who would be arriving - AND that was who arrived. I also liked that they use a customer portal that allows you to have some security if you pay online or to review your records. Christian arrived (there was one other person with him). It took him a couple minutes to diagnose the issue he believed it to be, and it took him not a lot longer to determine that diagnosis correct. He quoted the price, I agreed, and he got to work. After finishing the work, he determined the original issue I'd believed it to be wasn't quite needing to be addressed (but will be in the near future). We discussed options, including ways I could save a bit. Christian was personable and explained things in a way I could understand. The issue was likely caused by me, but he managed to avoid using the word "idiot" at any point. The repair was done in a timely manner. The price ended up being a bit lower than quoted. I appreciated his honesty as he very easily could have pointed me toward a repair not needing done yet. It also became obvious the last person I'd used had really only done half the job. Everything has worked beautifully since Christian finished. There are likely a couple more projects I'll tackle in the near future, and I won't hesitate to return to Grateful Plumber. The housecall was $59, but that was credited toward the repair once I decided to have them do the work. Friendly employees. Good follow-through. Fair pricing. Quality work. Problem solved. That's 5-star for me and another winner for Yelp's project feature.

Day of service, a young man comes late. He says he has all of my notes, but hasn't looked at them, so he wants me to tell him the problem. I do. I take him and show him the septic tank, which was part of the complaint. He takes a picture, tells me he has to call his boss because he doesn't know anything about septic systems. ??? He sits in his truck for awhile, talking to his boss. Comes in, says we need the septic pumped out before they can do anything. And they have a truck to do that but he doesn't think it's available. That'll be $98. That's it! So, I emailed the company, explained the situation. They were sorry, but explained that the initial cost will be returned if we don't use their service or applied to the work they do. Didn't I ask this very thing in advance?!
