May 4th, I stopped by Petitti's in Oakwood, usually go to Chagrin Falls location. Beyond pleased with not just the selection here in Oakwood but the service! Ms. Aaliyah not only went and secured an extra cart, but placed a brick behind my cart so it would not roll. Then she helped me with my carts to the car, near closing time, and asked if I wanted "plastic liners" so I wouldn't get my Bronco dirty; helped me load up my car. That is going above and beyond, exactly the type of service desperately needed in all retail environments! I'll be back! read more

I visited Petitti's recently to purchase some grass growing supplies. I talked to Rachel, who told me which grass seed, starter fertilizer, and peat moss to buy. I aerated my lawn and then spread the grass seed per the instructions, along with the starter fertilizer and peat moss. I've been watering for three days and I can't wait for the grass to start growing. Petitti's customer service was friendly and they pointed me in the right direction. They had everything that I needed in stock and in varying brands and quantities. I'll visit again when my garden needs help. read more

This review is for the Oakwood store. I usually have no complaints (other than that they're quite expensive) about this store. I have made two visits within a week recently and there is simply inadequate help and staff numbers here. I was there on a Wednesday and there were quite a few senior citizens shopping there, I am assuming because seniors get a small discount on Weds. Anyway, minimal to no employees in the greenhouse. I found a pole to reach and get the 8 hanging baskets I eventually bought. No one to be found in the perennial section, either. When it was time to checkout, the line was ridiculously long. I felt sorry for the only cashier there. Another cashier finally appeared and opened a register. At check out, I was told the senior discount only good for non sale items. Has it always been this way??? There was no help at all to load my many items that I just spent a small fortune on. Another customer helped me!! I don't know if Pettiti's is trying to cut costs, or if the general public doesn't want to work, or if maybe most staff were on their lunch break but it wasn't what I expected. I'd go elsewhere but Pettiti's has a monopoly in NE Ohio; there aren't many other garden center options. read more

Today is Yelp #ThankYouThursday and I want to give a shoutout to Petitti Garden Centers. They've remained opened during this crazy time but have also pivoted to offer curbside pick-up. With everyone sheltering at home, they may actually be busier than ever...everyone is working on their home projects, landscaping and gardening! My Dad & I placed an order in the morning on the phone and within a few hours they called to notify us it was ready. Upon arrival, there was actually a pretty long line of cars. But the staff at Petitti's handled it perfectly and calmly. Our order was correct and packed into our car with care and efficiency. They were still paying attention to customer service, which can be be an easy thing to forget about during this time. Thank you, Petitti's! read more

The website is old and obsolete regarding clicks and quick and easy buying of products. For example, I was trying to buy black mulch and have it delivered. The website is not designed for click-and-easy purchases via the web. The search function is either broken, dysfunctional, or designed incorrectly. It's cumbersome and awkward at best. Please type in "black mulch" from the home page for yourself using the search icon and see the results for yourself. This is either a result of lazy web design or just poor implementation. After about 20 clicks, I could not determine if Petitti delivered black mulch or had it. A picture of a bag of black mulch shows up as one of the results, but you cannot click on it. I went to a competitor's website and, in three clicks, had my order processed for black mulch. Also, I searched for St. John's Wort but had to specifically drill into "herbs." I recently decided to really get after our yard and do some fall landscaping. After having some luck here and there with the Home Depot and Lowe's garden centers, I was looking for a larger selection and soon realized how fortunate it is to have a place like Petitti's in the area! Their selection is so expansive, you're sure to find either exactly what you're looking for or something pretty darn close. The staff are very kind and helpful. They could probably tell I was inexperienced but I welcomed the help and suggestions. I didn't feel pressured to buy any of what they suggested, but I learned a little more as they explained what different planting mixes and products are meant for. And each time I've gone, someone has helped me load things into my car which was super appreciated so I didn't have to flail around in the parking lot by myself. The only part of the experience that could be better - I think their prices are a bit high. I've shopped the sale selection each time I've gone because I can't quite justify paying their regular prices. BUT, again, the selection and helpfulness of staff might just make it worthwhile. read more

I SPENT ALMOST $2,000.00 dollars and got treated like crap by the general manager who does not realize how much damage he has done to his company. AFTER SALES SERVICE AND GOODWILL IS VERY CLEARLY not what THIS COMPANY DO. There are much cheaper and far. BETTER Garden Centers around who will deeply appreciate your business. They have a huge selection of outdoor plants. A good selection of houseplants too, sometimes unusual ones. Their biggest drawback would be prices. They tend to be on the experience side. read more

I'm very disappointed in Petitti's Garden Center. I bought three standard roses for my front bed, a Peace rose, a Love rose and a JF Kennedy. Less than 2 years later, two of them have reverted back to a wild rambler. I have 30+ years gardening experience and the roses were very well taken care of. All I can think is they were not properly grafted. They are a Star rose brand. I called their Avon store where the roses were bought and I was told the best they could do would be to give me 50% off new roses. No thank you. I'll begin shopping at a nursery I can rely on. read more

I usually don't take the time to write reviews when I've been mis-handled by representatives of an establishment, but this experience deserves a few keystrokes. I visited Pettiti's for the VERY first time today to inquire about potential business partnership and potential collaborative/sponsorship opportunities for my business. Our respective clientele seems to share a point of alignment. In support of this theory, many of my clients over the years have suggested that a partnership with Pettiti's might present certain advantages for our mutual clients. Next year is the 10-year anniversary of our business so we are actively seeking similarly allied community opportunities with which to collaborate. I stopped into the store and an associate directed me across the parking lot to the corporate office so that my questions could be addressed. The woman who greeted me at the front desk whose name I called back to find out was Nancy Jaro. (Yes, I called back to get her name. That's how awful my interaction with her was). My first clue should have been that it was close to noon and she was donned in her winter coat. Obviously, I was detaining her from liberating some cute little kittens that were pinned under a school bus somewhere. Nancy looked at me as though I had nine nostrils. Her gaze of condescension was so distracting that it halted me three quarters of the way into my sentence, compelling me to ask if I was speaking a foreign language. She responded that she could not identify what I was asking, and I responded that usually a request such as mine is sent to the marketing department. She wouldn't hear it. She declined to provide the contact information for the marketing department, stating that Pettiti's doesn't allow solicitation. Last time I checked - inquiring about community relations, events, and/or sponsorship opportunities does not qualify as solicitation. Even if it does, her tone of condescension and rudeness is something that no business should accept or solicit- especially not at the Corporate Level. Her mind was already set - even uttering: "We don't do direct mail either." I replied: "No one said anything at all about direct mail." With that she roused herself from her chair, wrote Pettiti's buyer's name on a card without so much as providing me an email, phone number or any other contact information for this person with the words: "Let me give you this so that you can be on your way." After years of hearing clients tell me to check out Pettiti's, I finally made a special trip - today. I would not have bothered to write this review if this behavior were rendered via a non-administrative store level employee. But an individual who represents the Corporate Office of an organization requires a different reaction. It's always clear to me when I'm dealing with a person who has never actually built a business or anything from the ground up, nor knows anything at all about the ingredients involved in the task of community partnership development and searching for outside business opportunities. Because what occurs is an unspoken solidarity and kinship between you and that person with the understanding and comprehension that you are "one" in the "struggle" and effort of trail - blazing to fully accomplish your mission. If someone has not personally experienced the entrepreneurial climb, there's no way they can relate. I am so sick and tired of these companies that will let you spend your last penny with them but it's asking way too much of them to even have a conversation with you. I am beyond convinced that Pettiti's would not at all be the phenomenon that it has turned into without a little "community partnership and development" along the way. I picked up a really nice bonsai tree pot with water tray for $5 today. They have a cool open air selection of plants and related items. There are birds flying around. I saw a little garden of succulents for $6 and had to pick it up. I really need to stay away from stores like this because I buy too much! read more

Meeting... Plus I picked up some fertilizer after the meeting!!! If you have a green thumb this is your Nirvana!!! I was however, saddened to see Christmas stuff being staged.... Oh my word...This is the largest garden center I have seen in Cleveland. If you can't find it here, it simply doesn't exist. Bremec and Gale's don't hold a candle to this place. I love that they sell lots of patio furnishings as well as candles, clothing, etc. The organization of the flowers and plants is so easily to follow with all the overhead signs. And the employees are extremely knowledgeable and always roaming around so you never need to go far to ask a question. I do wish they would use a different style of carts. My flowers and plants tipped over while pushing the cart up various grades and cracks in the pavement. read more

Sadly, the service is getting worse. Had plants delivered to work, they delivered to my home instead. Spent $1000 there last year. They replanted the office. Some died over winter. They replanted in summer hot hot day, by morning the plants fell over. They sent someone out to replant with no dirt. Weeks later, plants look terrible!!!! The guarantee isn't worth anything if the stuff isn't replanted in dirt!! read more
