Wish I could give negative stars, I bought a puppy from Petland two days ago. After having the puppy for not even 24 hours I had to rush the puppy to the vet and it had parvo. It's fighting for its life right now and looks like it won't make it. The vet said 100% it had contracted parvo at Petland land because there is no way it would have tested positive so quickly from me only having it for less than 24 hours. I called Petland to let them know and yes they are supposed to help with the vet bills but the all the puppies they have there that have been exposed to the parvo virus are still being sold. They sell puppies knowing they are ill or have been exposed to a life threatening virus. read more

Would not even give 1 star if possible, horrible living conditions for the puppies where a majority are sharing crates with as many as three other dogs, feces, urine, and even blood can be seen in these crates. It's truly disturbing how workers can stand around and laugh while ignoring the concerns of customers who notice how horrible these conditions are. After having a very bad day, my significant other and I decided we wanted a new cat. The prices were very expensive though we didn't mind that, though we were told that she was up to date with her vaccines and then weren't given her vaccine records. I had to call 2 times before we were given the vaccine records. She only had 1 shot (she's 8 weeks which isn't surprising) and it was said she was dewormed (the day we got her, and was supposed to be dewormed for 3 days after and we never got anything for it.) The cat has worms, fleas, and even has a conjunctivitis of her eyes (could be bacterial or viral(cat herpes), we're waiting it out to see which it is.) The 'free' vet appointment/examination you get does nothing, as it's going to take them 2 whole weeks to even see the kitten and her eye could have gotten worse... luckily we have an actual vet who was able to squeeze us in and give us the antibiotics we needed. Overall, our experience with this company has been bad. We normally adopt from shelters, though they were the only place open and it was a very manic purchase. We will not be buying any animal from this chain (or any chain) ever again. I recommend you do the same. read more

My fiancé and I bought a regular ball python on July 22, 2024. He was very tiny the employees told us that he was just born about a month before and that they were feeding this fella pinkies. I spent $98 bucks on this little guy(we already had everything for snakes because we have two other snakes). It's been a month and 2 weeks maybe and Monday night after I got off work I noticed that he was acting weird, throwing his head back, and consistently yawning as if he was choking. Blood in his mouth, and we weren't sure what to do. Unfortunately we don't have a vet who specializes in reptiles around here that I have found. And he passed about 5:30 Tuesday morning. I called the pet land as soon as they were open and even took the snake down there. And all they would tell me is that they can't refund me or replace the snake because I did not purchase a damn starter kit with the snake. Beginning of this year I had spent $493 dollars on a fancy banana ghost ball python and she's been great! So why is this one all of a sudden sick?why won't they help? Petland I just want to alert people about the Petland in Russell. We've been there many times. Several employees were impressed at how my daughter has been with the puppies. She's 17 and loves going in there. She's got some very stressful medical problems and today wanted to go have some "Puppy therapy". A St. Bernard was in a play yard. She went to pet it and it instantly took her entire hand in its mouth. I pried desperately at its jaws. A worker walked by when I was wrestling the dog and I said I can't unclamp its jaws & he kept walking. It took BOTH my hands & everything I had to dig in the gums and jaw to release it. We ended up across the street in urgent care. My warning: the manager (big lady with bright red head) defended the dog 3xs saying it's a puppy and doesn't know better-- while my daughters crying and bleeding and in pain and shaking and traumatized. I said idc it's not sociable and should not be out! If that had been a smaller built person or child they wouldn't have a hand or at the very least would've been a crushed hand!! Broken!!! The manager was rude. Kept turning away from me!! She could've said I'm sorry and attended to my daughter. Put the dog in its cage. Instead a sweet female employee came and brought us a first aid kit and suggested we use the sanitizing wipes in case my daughter got anything from the dogs mouth. The fact 2 medical professionals suggested suing is really sad. And tempting. The manager was unprofessional, lacked any ounce of compassion, and totally disregarded me and my daughter standing there. And that makes me sick!! I certainly hope that dog is up to date on vaccines!!! Don't turn your back on your kids. read more

I went in this petland 2 week ago and the woman who is over the fish was very rude to me so i started to walk out and another woman said she was sorry that she treated me bad the the fish lady had several complaints. so i bought my fish. go back in 3 more days couldnt get no one to waite on me and the fish department lady refuses to wait on me. i leave. so today which is april 7 2023. wanted to buy some aquarium plants. so the same girl over the fish department was talking to someone , i said excuse me when you get done could i get some aquarium plants. she didnt say anything i waited litterly 20 minutes, the guy she was talking to left and she turned around and went into the little party room they have. so i go to the center of the store and ask for help.2 of them put it off on the next one there where 6 standing and talking . no one wanted to leave thier little chat group. i told the girl who finally waited on me what fish lady does to me . she didnt care she just want to get rid OF ME. when i went in there on my first trip i was going to set up and planted 125 gallon tank but because of all the bullshet i went to berts pet store to set my tank up and i was treated very nice. i would not recomend petland to no one. the service is a disaster. i will not be back in this petland period. i will stick with berts and petsmart read more

This is the biggest joke of a store. You will be told nothing but lies and lies. The people who work there know absolutely nothing about what they are telling you. We were told lies and drive over an hour and left work early to get a dog that they said was all clear to get. Only to get there and was told no one ever spoke to the GM about any of our concerns. Kenzly is one of the employees that told us nothing but lies over the phone and had no clue what she was talking about, as well as Aleesa is one of the employees that had lied and had said she spoke to the GM but in reality didn't even call. We stopped in the store one day to look at the dogs. We didn't ask about any info on the dog while we were there. I called a couple of days later to ask how much the dog was, but they wouldn't tell me over the phone. The lady said I would need to come in to get the price. I was a little aggravated but decided this was a big problem. The next day, I stopped in the store again to find out the cost of the dog. The employee I asked said that he couldn't tell me the price unless I played with the dog and discussed a few things with him afterwards. I was kind of astounded that they refused to tell me the price. I was in a hurry and didn't have time for all of that. What kind of business doesn't tell a potential customer the cost of something when they are asked? I understand that the dog was probably expensive, but I wasn't about to jump through their hoops. I'll just find a breeder. It's probably a better option anyway. read more

It's service is bad, the staff isn't compliant and rather rude at times. Most of the animals aren't taken care of properly and are missed on medication due to the staff not properly tracking dosage or outright irresponsibility. That opens up a lot of problems for the animals. I don't recommend buying from this place. read more

The dog attendants are so rude. I pointed at a dog to show my friend what one I liked (a second generation mini golden doodle, a really expensive dog) and she said "don't tap on the glass!" And I said "ok sorry." Then she turned to another guest and said "it's so loud and it stresses the dog out. I understand but when I'm about to spend $2500 on a dog I will tap on whatever I want to tap on. I'll buy any dog from anywhere else from now on. Terrible experience. read more
