The person who I got her from wasn't looking after her properly, so over the course of about a year and a half we've been doing what we can to get her health in order. I'm glad to say she is doing very well! Dr. Pettifor diagnosed her with gout and since then its been a battle but she is doing so well with her medicine and is a happy healthy dragon. I've rescued a few reptiles in my life and Smaug has definitely been the most difficult but also the most rewarding. I also find it harder to find an exotics vet than it was in Calgary - so I'm glad that we found one. She seems to care for the animals a lot which is important when you have a tiny lizard to look after (and other pets too). So thank you very much to Dr. Pettifor and all the staff here for helping with Smaug! We love her so much!

G&E has come a long way from 20 odd years ago, when I first remember going there. I remember it…read morebeing very dark and absolutely filled to the rafters with stock. Kind of a scary place! It is much better organized and professional-looking now, but it still has everything you could need for most common pets, at a good price. It still lacks signage and one can end up wandering around lost looking for things. Items specific to dogs, for example, are not all in one area but rather in different parts of the store according to the function of the product. The new staff are more helpful in my experience and I find the store has more staff available to deal with higher volumes of customers. I can't speak to their product expertise. They were great the one time we had to exchange something, no problem. They do need another till, the check-out queue is way too long, especially if you're carrying awkward or heavy items. It also impedes customer traffic through the store as the aisles get blocked. I'm glad to have rediscovered the old in a newer, better form, and am happy to support a local business.

There is a tonne of free parking out front, but just a note, you can only access it directly if you are driving westbound on the sherwood park fwy. If you are trying to access it driving east, you'll have to go to the set of lights and come back as there is a meridian that you can't cross.

No more dogs at the groomer stressed out as they keep them all day. Sara books my boys like I'd like a haircut, come in get done and go home. I would drop her off and she would be there for hours and hours being all stressed, and I always felt so terrible. She has since passed away....and I have 2 new dogs. A friend of mine recommended Sara to me about 5 years ago and I have brought my dogs there ever since. I love that Sara works out of her house and only works on one dog at a time, so I have peace of mind that my dogs aren't sitting in kennels for hours with other stressed and howling dogs. I usually drop one dog off and take the other one for a walk around the neighbourhood. Sara will text me about 45mins to an hour later telling me to switch up the dogs. I switch the dogs then take the first one for a walk. If I have running around to do she will take both dogs at the same time and text me when they are done. Sara has given me different options for my dogs depending on their breed. My Westie has had traditional Westie cuts with the skirt to shaved with a typical Westie face cut. My Maltese has tried a few different trims also, but when Sara suggested the short ears and short trim everywhere I have stuck with that one. She looks like a puppy all the time and she is almost 6. She is willing to be very creative with the dogs, or to stay very traditional with the hair cuts. You can tell that she loves her job and loves dogs. She has a few dogs herself and they are always so well groomed and well behaved. I have recommended Sara to many friends and they have been very satisfied.

We had puppies born last night and one puppy had serious medical problems where she had to be put down. Keeping a brick-and-mortar business is increasingly challenging month by month, and I hope Tifurny's can strike the right balance to succeed.

Cashier calls a floor manager to check the shelf, who then checks with the store manager and apparently this was a Black Friday promo that had expired. Even with their mistake of the signage being left up they wouldn't honour the discount out of goodwill. Not even a few pieces. According to the floor manager they don't take part in the Code of Conduct, whatever that means. However if the company can afford to put it on sale for a price, they can afford to honour the sale when the employees haven't removed the signage a few days after the expiration. Incredibly disappointed with the service and likely won't be back.

You gotta come on Tues/Thurs to get the new worms! If you come on a Monday the selection isn't good and you might be buying 50 but then find that half are dead. So definitely try and come in for the fresh shipment. Sometimes I bring my babygirl Smaug (Bearded Dragon) here and the staff is so nice to here. They love seeing her and she likes to be out and about socializing with all the humans. I like that you can bring your animals here - even the reptiles. I come here just for the staff alone, they're always friendly and helpful. I feel like I get good service here. I also bought my ginger cat, Churchill, here! We saw him in the window a year ago and had to take him home with us! I can't believe that was almost two years ago now! Time flies!
