Most of the places that were coming up were little hole in the wall Chinese Medicine or Thai Massage joints, which can be great but wasn't what I was after. I'd seen Down to Earth as I often shop on that strip of Fortess Road but hadn't realised they did massage. And man, do they. This was one of the best 90 minute sport massages I've ever had. Almost clinical in its delivery and really worked out a lot of the recent muscle soreness I've been having. The masseuse even spent 10 minutes after showing me some good stretching exercises for the problem areas. I will absolutely be going back and highly recommend anyone in K town give it a try.

Not exactly a professional service.

I've been looking around for Yoga classes in North London and I'm amazed as to how many there are:…read morethere's various yoga studios as well as various independent teachers that offer yoga sessions at community halls: Billy Doyle is one of the latter and he offers his yoga class at Lauderdale House in Highgate (situated within Waterlow Park). I really enjoyed coming here and I will certainly back. What I enjoyed is that this is a relatively gentle approach to yoga (it's called Yoga in the Kashmir Tradition). For me this was perfect for a Monday evening to wind down and relax...yes, relax. This is in fact what I most liked about this session: I didn't feel like I was or had to perform. Billy is an older but quite remarkable older gentleman. He is very kind and soft-spoken when you first meet him, but I was surprised to find that when he starts the session, his voice is firm and directive. I find the setting here perfect for my needs; I sometimes feel that at yoga centers the atmosphere is way too "chill" and meditative, where every conversation is about yoga, the healthy mindset and wearing appropriate clothing. But here it seems more of a community gathering with added health benefits... Billy Doyle offers two classes here at Lauderdale House during term times: Monday evenings and Tuesday late mornings. He also has another session in Kew Gardens on Thursday late mornings. A meditation class is held at his house in Hampstead on Thursday evenings.

Finding Bikram Yoga North isn't easy, as its name is not displayed other than a small placard above the door buzzer. After buzzing in and climbing the two flights of stairs, I entered the reception. Everything you'd expect from a yoga school is on offer, retreats, clothing, mats etc... Plus the vibe just had that yogi feel to it. My partner and I signed up for the very reasonable £29 for thirty days. This introductory offer means we can train as much as we like for thirty days. It is £13 a class after this introductory period. Once the admin was sorted it was time to sweat. The studio is spacious with plenty of natural light and famously heated to a thankfully bearable but still hot temperature. The teacher was a lovely Latino lady who spoke using a headset. Unlike all other styles of yoga classes I have attended she instructed but did not do the movements herself. This in no way distracted from the quality of the teaching and spared her time for correcting students. Based on twenty-six Hatha yoga postures the movements and stances are not difficult to do but they are to master. With the added heat it wasn't long before I was bathed in sweat. Rather than an overtly physical workout, it really felt like I was working from the inside. My organs felt freshly squeezed and my core felt thoroughly worked. There were no downward facing dogs, no plank and very few of the traditional postures I've performed before. Yet I enjoyed the class and will be back.

Exactly the same positions devised by Bikram are on offer 3 - 4 times a day for 90 minutes. The basis of all the classes, no matter where you go, are the same, so I guess it's just the proximity and preference of centre which determine your choice. The studio is along the market area, on the second floor above the busy row of shops so to find it you just look out for their door marked with a sign. The same type of friendly yoga fiends come here, yet the same lack of space in class apply during the evenings. One man actually flicked sweat onto me all the way through a session as we moved through the positions last week. And I'm actually paying for this?! Unfortunately I really don't like this studio, which can only be described as scruffy and at £13 a lesson you'd think that they could afford a refurb. It's in a carpeted room that seems unclean, not surprising, as it must get drenched in sweat every lesson, there are large windows lining one side of the space that let in too much outside noise and light, (which is very distracting) the heat doesn't seem to circulate well and is only controlled by turning up the radiators full blast rather than providing a hot air steam. I've had my mat next to the radiators before and the heat was so dry and heavy that it was unbearable. Bikram yoga isn't just exercise, it's a powerful form of yoga, which if done in the right settings should have an amazing effect on the mind, body and soul. I much prefer the wooden floors, clean sauna style and lack of natural light in the Balham yoga class that overall has a much more positive effect on me. After stretching out in Kentish Town I felt more ripped off then rejuvenated so I wont be returning.

Still working out the kinks but it's got some class to it. The architecture is pretty yet funky, like the varying chandeliers in the room. The two teachers that I experienced were excellent but put emphasis on different things during the classes. If you don't take it too seriously then the fact that one teacher tells you to do it this way and then the next teacher tells you something different shouldn't be concerning. Just go with the hot as hell flow. You can buy/rent yoga mats, towels and bottled water. They have shampoos and lotions available. hairdryers too! So fancy pantsy. I liked that. CONS: Tiny TINY ass bathroom/changing room/shower room. But I think it was because everyone and their mother signed up to try this new place at a discount price so there was a higher population than usual. They don't provide lockers but they're space nazis and have a designated area in the bikram room where you can ONLY keep your stuff. I think it was just the receptionist's general biotchy attitude that made that rule kind of annoying. So yes. It's on the expensive side but you get your moneys worth if you're willing.

However, the change room situation is mental. The studio room is large but the change room is so small, naked women are bumping into each other. One or two of the showers was consistently broken, so there were few showers for dozens of women trying to wash up after a class. The room goes from freezing cold (since the window is usually left open) to painfully hot from the showers. Lord help you if you want to put on make up after a class. There is no space and you'll be sweating so much from the showers that it will melt off your face. The instructors were inconsistent. Some were fantastic and engaging, while others were boring, going through the motions. Same with the temperature in the room. About half the time, the temperature is excessive. Staff at the counter can go from friendly and helpful to surly and irritated at everyone. I would not pay full price but I would consider returning if there was a very good deal.

(This review was copied from my review on their old address, as Yelp didn't migrate the reviews…read moreover to the new address) :) I stumbled across Battersea Yoga's new Kite Yard studio and signed up for the new client intro offer and haven't looked back since!! I regularly attend their yoga and meditation classes and it really is changing my life! Lol. All of the teachers I've worked with have been great - they each have their own style of teaching, obviously, but I've never been to a class that I didn't enjoy. The same people tend to come back to classes, so there is a great sense of community. Also, they have an app that you can use to buy passes and book classes, which makes it super easy. They also organise yoga retreats...I'll be going with them to Zambia in a few months and can't wait!! Why haven't you signed up for a class yet?!

I've been coming to this studio for about three years and haven't found another that beats it! They've recently had a refurbishment so the changing rooms/toilets/reception area now look very modern and fresh. They have a lot of great teachers and the staff are always friendly. The room is pretty well ventilated but the heat/humidity will vary depending on how many people are in the class. You might get a bit of fresh air if the teacher decides to open the back door for a few seconds! There are mirrors at the front and right hand side of the class so that everyone can work on their posture - which is also pretty useful for newcomers as they can easily follow the more experienced students. If you haven't tried it before - give it a go! The hardest part is staying in the room for the first time but an enjoyable challenge - enjoy!

I have never felt so relaxed in all my life and was mesmerised by the fact that it is so hot in here you sweat from places you never knew you could sweat from..."oh look at that my hand is sweating!" This studio, however, has lost out on two of my beautiful stars for one BIG reason: the changing facilities. Seeing as they fit about 75 people into a class - predominantly women - they really should be looking into larger changing facilities to accommodate everyone. At £13 a class (it may have even gone up by now) it's really not on to then cram all of us into the cupboard-sized changing room, all lovely and sweaty from our class, clambering over one another to find our belongings and get showered and changed...this is all starting to sound a bit wrong. I don't want to get all zenned-out and calm only to then have someone's sweaty armpit (or worse) in my face while I try and dig my belongings out and get changed in a room that is perhaps hotter than the one I have just done a Bikram class in. It does nothing for my relaxation and I may as well have just got on the baking Victoria Line during rush hour - just as hot and just as stressful! I actually took these classes on a £10 for 10 days offer but was reluctant to sign up afterwards for the full whack because of the changing situation. Perhaps if I was able to go during the day when it might be less busy I may be inclined to join as a full paying member. Such a shame.

I'd love to be, but I'm basically the complete opposite. I love food & wine too much (and it shows), so one day I made a pact with myself: join StudioOne, go to class regularly, eat & drink good stuff 80% of the week and for the other 20% of the week, my reward is to have that wine. (Or the Dead Hippie from MeatLiquor. Or that gorgeous Spaghetti Vongole from Antonio's. You get the drift.) StudioOne had a trial during their opening month so I went to different classes and eventually fell in love with Reformer Pilates. It's challenging, works the entire body and you will feel and see results in a relatively short period of time if you go a few times a week. THE LOW-DOWN: + plenty of Yoga, Reformer Pilates, Boxing, Barre, Cardio classes to choose from + most classes are for ANY fitness level + they offer full memberships, half memberships, off-peak memberships, pay as you go and special packages + full memberships can be canceled any time - no "you sign your life away for a year" nonsense + FANTASTIC teachers who know their stuff + small, intimate classes (never more than 6-8 people, for Reformer it's max. 4 people) so teachers are able to focus on everyone individually + no awkwardness/judging/uncomfortable feeling in any class - everyone, no matter what fitness level, shape or size is made feel welcome and taken care of + clean, modern, chic interior + super friendly staff + convenient location only a short walk from Kings Cross In short: great new studio with owners & teachers who are passionate about what they do and are committed to making fitness accessible to everyone.

It's well-lit and has a nice "energy." You can say that sort of thing in a yoga review. I really like Claire, who teaches pilates. She's super friendly and helps students individually. She works with students at their own level, which I appreciate. The general vibe of the studio seems a little serious, but people are also pretty friendly. I've met a couple of nice women, and people are welcoming for sure. My main feedback is they don't do a lot of adjustments in class, which is something I really liked from Satori Yoga in SF. I think adjustments are really helpful both for safety and learning. They let you use their mats if you have a towel to put on top. I really do need to buy my own mat, since communal yoga mats tend to a smell a little funky. I really like that this place is walking distance from my house and an actual studio/community, not just a single teacher renting a space. Almost all baby activities that exist are relaxed and somewhat understanding around timings. It's unrealistic to expect people to always be punctual when babies are involved.
