Of the several pet stores in town - chain and independent - PetSmart ranks high. Prices are reasonable, the store is well laid out and lit, and the selection is better than everyone else. My other favorite pet store (Pet Express, an independent) doesn't carry Science Diet products, for instance. Getting prescription cat food is not a big hassle, either. Just present your vet's prescription to the counter in the back and you'll get a PetSmart card good for a year. read more

Michelle recommended a different type of harness and it made a huge difference in my control of my 110 lb pitbull and his pulling issues. It was late and the store was getting ready to close but Michelle was very patient. She gave me a master class on some basic training techniques that were very useful. They are all friendly, welcoming and very professional especially Tia, who has been grooming our 8 months old puppy since he was 4months old. I took our dog to be groomed here, he's been a few times before. When we got home I noticed his ear was covered in a dried glue like substance. After taking to my vet, we learned they had cut about 2 inches up my dogs ear!!! The vet said this is standard way they stop bleeding on this type of cut. They never said one thing to my husband when he picked up our dog, and my husband didn't notice until he got home. I called to inquire and they completely denied anything and said our dog must have done it himself. What???!!!! Nevertheless do NOT go here, we never will again. Just your basic PetSmart store. Staff is usually friendly and welcoming, and helpful! They're well-stocked and have a great variety of items. The website always has great sales that you might not see in person, so I typically put in for a curbside pickup order. Also, become a rewards member so you get perks and coupons! The grooming salon was pretty. We took our dog for a FURminator groom and I think it was good LOL . He was still shedding a little so maybe we just can't avoid that. He did come home smelling all nice and looking clean. I had a coupon, otherwise I do like to support local and small businesses, so next time we'll do that. They were going to kill a reptile because it had a slightly aggressive attitude occasionally. You don't KILL a living reptile (who aren't exactly known for friendly attitudes 24/7) Then they still had the audacity to charge me for an animal that was as good as dead to them when I was trying to rescue it. I paid because it was pay or have it die, but that's absolutely outrageous. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO PETSMART. I will constantly tell people to avoid petsmart. I will boycott petsmart. We have been taking our doodle to get groomed at PetSmart since he was a puppy. Today was the last time that I will be taking him. Doodle breeds in particular are more expensive to groom than a standard dog. With this increased fee, the groomers there should have some experience understanding that they aren't groomed the same as non-curly breeds. When we checked in to our appointment this morning, the person who checked us in asked the typical questions of style and length of haircut we wanted but when we picked him up we got the opposite of what we asked for. A teddy bear hair cut on the face means that the length of the hair on the face is typically longer than the body, and we did not get that. Our dog looks almost unrecognizable and I'm extremely disappointed that I spent $121 on this groom. Will not recommend and will not be going back. read more

Our regular groomer is booked out and we desperately needed someone to groom our two labradoodles. I let them know that I wanted them to have short summer cuts and wasn't picky if they needed to go even shorter than what I said, or if they needed to shave their ears/tails. When we picked up the dogs we didn't check them out much and went home. The groomer did say that her manager wouldn't let her touch our older dogs head due to a bump that we showed them when we arrived. I was understanding but was bummed they didn't clean up the area around his mouth. Once we got home we noticed several long/uneven spots on both dogs. She trimmed half of my females belly, but left the other half long. I have never seen someone leave long hair (even the trimmed side was long) on a summer cut or even a winter cut for that matter. She left ALL the hair around her privates long which should have been a sanitary clean up. She left the hair on my male's bottom long. Both had mats in their genitals and bottom that we had to cut and shave when we got home. Even though I paid for a bath and cut, she did not bathe my female. My female had black stuff stuck in her chin hair. She did not trim the hair on my females head and we had to trim the hair around her eyes so she could see. Her tail was combed out, but matted so we had to shave that too. She said that she shaved a spot behind my dogs ear bc it was matted, okay I understand. But when I checked, she left big mats behind both her ears! I also specifically asked her to clean up my dogs ears inside because I don't know how to do that. My female had dirt in her ears and large, matted ear hair balls with ear wax. Meaning they didn't touch the inside of her ears at all. I had to clean them and I'll have to take her somewhere else to have them plucked. I gave 2 stars instead of one because the girl was nice and the dogs seemed like they were still in good spirits when I picked them up. Their haircuts were terrible though and we had to wait a week to fix them once we went out of town and my mom could help us. read more

Awful. I waited an entire week just for a grooming appointment only to be told they wouldn't do it because I didn't bring in a paper showing when his rabies shot expires. He's 5 months old and has a rabies tag on his neck with the record number!! He was adopted by a reputable shelter and they wasted my whole week and my time to come all the way in. It was as if they didn't want to do the job. Totally inflexible and no common sense applied. He's 5 months old, when do you think the shot expires!!?? Not anytime soon. We have been using the Petsmart grooming salon for a year now. My dog has a tendency to get nervous around strangers but she absolutely adores the staff at Petsmart. The grooming salon is on of the best I have been to. Rachel is always professional and my pup always looks fantastic. They always seem to do something that makes the whole experience over the top such as bows in her hair, a bandana and an emailed photo of her new haircut. Appointments are always easy to get and the actual cut and shampoo has a pretty quick turn around. If you are looking for a place to bring your pup for a trim, give them a try. You know it was our first time at their groomers. While the grooming itself wasn't bad, the staff customer relations were horrible. Don't tell me how bad my dog was and then hand me a bill for $150! They're dogs! And at 1 1/2 years old, yes they have energy. Funny how when we're out in public with other dogs around, they're just fine! Maybe the problem is elsewhere... we only went there because our regular groomer was on vacation and we were having Xmas pics being done the next day.. lesson learned. read more

DO NOT LET TIA GROOM YOUR PET!!! I had an appointment with another groomer. We had a very clear conversation about what I wanted groomed and what I didn't want touched. When I returned, Tia had, for some reason, groomed my dog. Not only did she cut off a part of Hannah's coat that I had expressly said I did not want touched, but she did a HORRIBLE job of clipping. She left jagged edges around her ears, one side longer than the other. She clipped off the end of one of her pappilion-like ears, the black silky "ribbons' at the top of her ears. My sweet Hannah did not even look like herself when I took her home. The manager's name is Rachel and to her credit she did the best she could to at least smooth out the jagged and unneven fur around Hannah's ears, but of course, couldn't correct the cutting of lovely black, silky part of Hannah's ears. read more

I wish I could give less than a one star review. I wanted to exchange a product that stopped working and the lady sighed when I approached she then complained because I didn't have my receipt from months ago. I've never had a problem with not having a receipt because you can just look it up through your account. She was extremely unprofessional and rude to me and it took 35 minutes to get one item exchanged. She continued to roll her eyes and make sighing noises as she "helped" me. I started buying special diet food for my cat's about 3 years ago. A small bag of the prescription food cost a little over $15.00. I went in to the Bend Petsmart about 9 months ago to buy a small bag of the prescription food and the price at the cash register, according to the clerk, was over $35.00, and increase of over 100%. I noticed the price had been increasing incrmentally but I was taken aback at the latest price. I refused to buy the food and found a like product at my vet's office and purchased a 8 lb bag for $45.00. Still expensive, but way less than Petsmart. I used to buy canned dog and cat food at Petsmart and now I find the same food at Walmart for less money. I no longer buy anything at Petsmart. read more

Last night I took my puppy to the PetSmart grooming salon for his first grooming appointment. He is 5 months old and I wanted him to go to get used to being groomed. I chose to go there cause I like PetSmart and really like the vet clinic we go to Bandfield which is in PetSmart. However, I will never take my puppy back to the grooming salon. -It was dirty and smelly when I first walked in. Dog hair everywhere! It looked like they had cut multiple dogs and not cleaned up after them. -The customer service was so poor. You could tell the lady working had no patience and didn't want to deal with my puppy or I. When I made the appointment I made sure they knew that my puppy was only five months and had never been groomed before. That being said I would think they would know that he would take a little more time then a dog who has been going for years. -My puppy wasn't there even ten minuets before they called me to tell me that they weren't going to continue grooming him because he wouldn't cooperate. He is a puppy! He has never been groomed before! I expected a little more effort then what was given. Then when I picked up the same lady was very rude and sassy. I don't even want to think about how my dog was treated in the ten minuets I was gone based on how I was treated the short time I was there. Thank you for making out first grooming appointment a nightmare. I will definitely not be recommending the grooming salon in PetSmart to any dog owner in the future. read more

I will never take our dog to get groomed here again. The first time we took our dog, the manager groomed her and she did an excellent job. We paid for the works, $65 and she took 3 hours and it was worth it. The second time we took her, the woman did a horrible job, it was choppy, many missed spots, and our dog came home with a really bad kennel cough. I will say they offered to re-groom her for free and gave us a free exam at their vet and meds. But it's not worth our dog getting sick and wasting the time and money. read more

Was treated very rudely by staff and their head trainer. I went there with a friend to pick up a new harness for his service dog. While shopping, I was instructing my friend how to deal with some service dog challenges in pet stores (I am a certified service dog trainer) and was rudely approached by a staff member and the petsmart trainer. They loudly demanded we leave in full display of other customers and we where already at the door having not found what we were looking for. Confused we asked what we did wrong, the trainer stepped even closer, squared her shoulders to me and said that we could not be with a service dog training in their store. Because that is an ADA legal violation and medical risk, I asked the trainer why we could not be there with his service dog. The trainer said that they offer training though her and that we must go through her to in order to train there. When I asked if petsmart offers service dog training she said yes, which I know is not true. Not looking to argue and embarrassed by her drawing everyone's attention to us, we decided to just leave. We felt very discriminated against and like we were reproaching on 'her territory'. I could maybe understand if the service dog was misbehaving but aside from being distracted by catnip for a moment, he was being a model service dog. This level of chest puffing and discrimination should not be tolerated. I will no longer endorse this store or the training they offer and will be sure to let others know our experience with this trainer and her behavior. read more

Today, at the King of Prussia, PA Pet Smart, they turned away a long-standing customer (at least a decade of grooming our dog there every month) because the staff at our veterinarian incorrectly wrote on our dogs record that her rabies vaccine wasn't due until June 2019. As it turns out, to no fault of our own, they rudely turned us away for a vaccination that was only one month past due. The people there knew our dog well and always say how well behaved she is. Rude, judgmental sales assistants. My dog is a mixed breed (possibly a hound mix) and is naturally a thin build. Two different vets have recently assured me that he is not too skinny, and that he's a healthy dog at a good weight for his type. He's also young, so they expect he may 'fill out' as he ages. Two Bend PetSmart employees have made comments implying that he is too thin and that we should be feeding him more, or feeding him something different. We take exceptional care of our dog, giving him good quality food, exercising him off-leash every day, and never leaving him alone for more than four hours. There is nothing we wouldn't do, in order to keep him happy and healthy. To have people imply otherwise is not only rude, but also hurtful. We will not be returning. read more

I recently took my pup to their grooming team here and they were patient, professional, and overall wonderful! Jake is a 10 year old lab who absolutely adores everyone, however, he gets very nervous and insecure in new situations. I called ahead and the gal was extremely understanding and recommended coming in a little early for our appointment to make sure they had time to do a proper groom while making him comfortable. They called right when they finished and Jake was clean and happy when I picked him up. We have always bathed Jake at home, however, after taking him to the groom team at our local PetSmart we will definitely be going back! Thank you guys!! read more

Our family has spent thousands of dollars at this store over the years. we buy nearly every pet related item we need from there and have always been faithful. Recently i found out that they were throwing less than 1 day old all natural/organic dog food into the large receptacle out back and helped myself to it. we saved 80 dollars and was able to use what we needed and took some to the local homeless groups to donate to others in need. I stole from the riches trash to give to the poor. shame on me. (And if you are wondering, there is NO reported case of dogs dying from eating old food., dogs eating crappy old roy and junk made in china...yes) DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH. Anyways, today i walked in and politely asked Ryan the manager on duty if we could have access to that waste so we could use some and donate to others and he said the policy was NO. i asked why and he gave me the same bogus story about how dogs have died from eating used dog food. I replied that it was a lie and does not, has not happened. he then said well, that is just our policy and i just work here. I said, you work here and are a representative of this company and you don't feel like they are wrong for lying abut this? I stated that it was obvious that Petsmart cared nothing for the environment or its people and that it was all about the bottom dollar. and profit. animals are going hungry and some people are growing poorer because you nearly have to be rich to pay for good healthy dog food and this company might miss a few dollars if someone got FREE dog food. secondly, we are talking about thousands of pounds that are now in our local landfills. He stated that they donate thousands to local organizations....he didn't know that i work at those same organizations. WE NEVER GET DONATIONS FROM PETSMART...EVER. The humane society of Bend actually has compensation deal with Petsmart. they suggest Petsmart for care and services and The humane society gets food. I know i did intake work for them. We will never EVER shop here again. most of you people are zombies who are to scared and meek to stand on your own morals so i will just hope and pray that you make an effort to support companies that would support you and the ones you love. She looks better than ever. Also loved the chart that lets you show how short you want it.
