Our dog came back traumatized, knicked in multiple areas, and with the patchiest haircut we've ever seen. we paid over $100 for our mini doodle to get groomed. she came back with the patchiest cut and it was the complete opposite of the haircut we had discussed. her they didn't even finish the job on her paws or around her face. The next day I noticed she was not acting like herself and found they had cut her in multiple areas and never said a word to me. she has been shaking and cowering for days which the vet told us is most likely from the trauma of this experience. worst groomer we have ever been to. I would rate Pet Smart in Columbia, Mo. a double negative if I could. Second time i used them but new groomer. This Pet Smart is 1 hour away from where i live. I brought my Great Pyrenees there for a bath and brush. He needed a bath very badly. My 1 year old male has very dense hair and has been blowing his coat for about 2-3 months. It is never ending and everyday I spend time getting globs of hair off of him. I was sure his coat was almost through his shedding. He went to his appointment and they called me back. They convinced me that he was severely matted and would not do anything for him unless I would let them shave him. I very reluctantly agreed after I checked other groomers for openings, no openings. I told them they couldn't go so short that would draw blood. I went to pick my beautiful baby up and they gave him a cut like a poodle!!! I didn't realize when there but they cut him in 2 places. Back of his ear and near the top of his hip. He has no irritation on his skin anywhere. I believe he had some compacted hair but was definitely NOT matted! I'm sick and furious about this. My baby is agitated because he has no hair and he keeps licking his cut on his hip. That being said...I was charged for a bath and full cut, a furminator and deshedding, and a dematting fee. $153 was my total bill. I'm just sick!!! My baby is sick about this while he tends to his wounds! Never again will I use this Pet Smart! I feel they were just too lazy to do the brushing when they saw how much hair he has. Then charged me for the deshedding and dematting. It took them 2 1/2 hours when they first told me it would take 4 hours. I feel they lied to me about the matting and charged me for services that weren't done. Seriously?!? A deshedding furminator fee? A matting fee? I questioned those fees and the groomer said he did these things. He said he used the furminator before he shaved him. Really? I thought my baby was matted over his entire body! How, might I ask could you do that and why, might I ask you would do that when you were shaving him down??? These people are so very rude to top all of this WRONG! read more

Had a horrible experience at Pet Smart in Columbia. We were quoted a price and then when we picked up our dog was charged much more. We were told the service had already been done and thats what we owe. We had to pay it in order to get our dog back. I have been a long time customer, but I was treated very poorly tonight. I called to inform the groomer I would be late because of a very long wait at the DMV. Autumn told me she would still get me in if I would be no more than 15 minutes late. I told her I would be there. we were 16 minutes late, but we couldn't get in the lobby because another dog was in there, so we waited patiently outside the door. when I entered she said sweetly, "Is this Brody?", and I said yes, and then she said, "I'm not going to be able to fit him in today." to which I replied, I was here within the 15 minutes, and she smiled rudely and said, "You walked in he door at 5:16." It would have been much kinder and more human if she was truly so overbooked that ONE minute made that much difference, that she would have said when I called that she couldn't fit us in if we were going to be late. So, Pets'Mart, you've lost me as a customer, and I hope that others that patronize PetSMart will be wary when booking with Autumn and might choose one of their other groomers whom we have always loved and appreciated. The door was blocked by shopping carts that an employee left there while she talked to herself, never acknowledging me while I waited for her to move them and stop almost knocking me over. I got past the people with unruly dogs and no place for them to stand, being accosted and sniffed a time or two. I mentioned to the clerk that I had looked for these online and their website advertises them for $9.99. $5 cheaper than thein-store price of $15.99. That's a 33% overcharge. It also happens to be the manufacturer's price for a can of 60 wipes. (60!! twice as many!). She dryly stated that if I could "pull that up on my phone" she could "match it." My roommates and I bought 3 betta fish from this store, and all 3 dies in less than 24 hours. We took them back and got replacements, as per their warranty, and the 3 replacement fish ALSO died within 24 hours. As a betta owner of over 15 years and a pre-vet student with knowledge of exotic pet care, the only logical explanation for this mass fish death is improper fish care at this store. Finally, we went to Petco and bought betta fish who are healthy and thriving over a week later. If you want your pets to be, I don't know, ALIVE, take my advice and just go to PETCO. read more

As new puppy parents, we have been at PetSmart constantly over the past month or so. So far, we have been nothing but satisfied. The staff are always friendly and knowledgable, the store itself is very clean and bright, and we always find what we are looking for and more. The Puppy Starter Kit they offer gave us some great deals on key items like crate pads, leashes/collars, and puppy food. It also offers discounts on puppy training class and grooming packages. They consistently have deals for Pet Perks members, which is a free program, and the deals are often on items we buy regularly (treats, toys, food, etc.). We appreciate that they offer a training class specifically for puppies under five months. The six week course cost $119 (before the discount we got), so you pay less than $20 per hour class. Three weeks into the class, we are very happy. Not only is it great socialization for our puppy, we also have learned some great training tips. Overall, this is our preferred pet store in Columbia. read more

The Columbia MISSOURI PetSmart is awesome. Every three weeks we go in for a nails grinding and the staff is A+. We typically go in at least once a week for other reasons and the place is always on point. The store is SPOTLESS......again, SPOTLESS. I wish every type of store; grocery included, was as clean as the Columbia MISSOURI PetSmart. I have met ONE staff member who didn't act like a valuable asset to the company and she quickly vanished and we have never seen her since. Each time we go in the place looks, smells, and feels just like it did the week of the Grand Opening......brand new ! ! ! ! Sadly, you can't say that about most businesses a year later. I take my dog there to get groomed on a regular basis and the manager is always super personable and helpful. We get greeted friendly and they know my dogs name upon arrival. Even though they are busy the groomers always take time to give us a warm welcome and prompt service. My dog always comes home tail wagging,soft shiney coat and smelling and looking great! I have nothing against the store itself, but I took my dog here for grooming today. A couple hours after I dropped her off, I received a call from the store manager telling me that the groomer had "nicked" my dog's neck and that they were taking her to the local vet to have it checked out. I understand that dogs can move around like crazy and be very hard to manage and accidents can happen that way. However, from what the groomer told me, my dog was very calm and sweet throughout the whole process, so how in the world did they nick her?? When I picked my dog up, the "nick" was larger than just a nick, and ended up having to be glued closed! Luckily, Petsmart paid for the vet visit and did not charge me for the half groom (since they were unable to complete her haircut). It is quite disturbing to me that this event happened at all! As I said before, I have nothing against PetSmart store, but I would strongly suggest going elsewhere for any grooming needs. Does not have all the usual Pet Smart add-ons: No Pet Hotel, vet, classes, etc. It is pretty bare-bones. But, the employees are helpful and there seem to be plenty of them, so assistance is never to difficult to find. The grooming salon is great - I love that they take walkins and most of the staff knows my dog by name when I bring her in for a nail grinding. It's reasonably priced at $12. They carry the brand of dog food I buy for my dog, a wide selection of treats, and the staff is super helpful with questions you may have. I had a long conversation about what kind of harness would work best for my dog and the employee even had used the seat belt car harness & tether that I was considering buying. I loved the personal recommendation. And they are super great about letting you try things on so you know it fits and don't have to make trips back to return items. I love going to PetSmart to get my dog bathed, nail trim and teeth cleaned I've gone multiple times yet this last time I went a few days later I've noticed spotting on my dogs skin (looks to me like a rash) and her gums have been bleeding ever since. I love this Petsmart. It is bright and clean and usually has what I'm looking for. The fish are healthy and the animals available for purchase and adoption look clean and well cared for. My dog took puppy training classes here and he learned a lot. There is a grooming salon, but I haven't used it. It looks nice and has clear walls so you can see what's happening to the pets at all times. I really like that. We'll be back for level 2 puppy classes. read more

I will never go back to petsmart grooming again. I took my goldendoodle here since he was a pup and they always did a fine job and he seemed to enjoy it for the most part. The last time I took him the groomer wasn't there to talk to so I explained to the people taking him that I was most concerned with his face being trimmed up and his teeth cleaned and ears cleaned out. They usually trim the inside of his ears or pluck them since he is a doodle. When the groomer called to let me know he was done she said she didn't finish his back. I didn't think it was a huge deal because she said he still looked fine. And her exact words at the end were "but I did what you paid for". My sister went to pick up my dog and he was far from ok. He was visibly upset and half of his back had been shaved and the rest left long. His tail was basically just chopped with no fluff at all on the ends and his bangs looked horrible. Even the groomer said he looked bad when she picked him up but that I could come in Monday and pay to have it fixed. No way was I taking him back to get fixed when he was so upset. He immediately threw up right after the apt and about a week after I noticed he was batting at his ears and looked inside to find his ears weren't cleaned or trimmed whatsoever. Took him to the vet the next day and she said she hadn't ever seen a groomer leave so much hair and there was a serious infection. My poor puppy had to have his infected and sore ears plucked and wiped out for ten minutes just to get them all the way. She said most like they had gotten water in them and not dried his ears and it caused the infection. My dog has the worst haircut of his life, an ear infection, and won't go back. And to top it off I ALWAYS do an add on package of chi or skin solutions plus so I can get his nails trimmed and teeth cleaned and all of the extras, but the groomer insisted i didn't pay for that (we checked the receipt to of course see that I did) and said if I wanted her to fix her own mistake I would have to pay $40-50 extra dollars after I had already paid $130 after tip! I hate to let one bad experience keep me away but this one was bad enough to do just that. read more

I spend a lot of money here with my 4 pets. We will not ever go back here for grooming. While waiting for our dogs nails to be trimmed, I watched a groomer act very hostile towards a very small dog she was trimming. The little dog nipped at her. I can't blame it. She was roughly brushing it. My husband and I both noticed it. When the dog nipped at her, she grabbed it by the back of neck, picked it up and said, "You will not bite me!" She took it to the back where I heard it start crying. I'm not exaggerating!! She brought it back in a few minutes later and I watched her the entire time. She turned her back to me. I reported this to the manager. It felt like the Manger just blew me off. I told her about the lady taking it to the back and she said it was probably because it was put in a kennel. I argued with her. The dog wasn't gone long enough to be in a kennel to calm down. If the owners of this little dog had been there, I would've told them what I witnessed. The manager took no ownership of the issue. What happened was completely wrong. If a groomer doesn't like dealing with difficult animals, get another job! My husband and I both agreed that we won't be back. Petco is right down the road. If you go there, do NOT leave your pet unattended, please!! This happened today and I'm still very angry. No animal deserves that kind of treatment. read more

I normally take my pitbull puppy here for a bath and to he this nails clipped and every time, they do a wonderful job. He comes home smelling great and his fur is extremely soft! I feel comfortable leaving him there and I am usually very happy with their service.
