I have pet health insurance they Banfield at PetSmart. I love this service because everywhere that I travel to or move I can find PetSmart and Banfield health services for my pet, and his record transfers with me. The cost of the insurance is actually fully made up because it includes all his shots and two annual exams plus dental cleaning. Today Luciano needs an update on his Bordetella vaccine. This is very important because he needs it if I have to board him in a Dog Baording facility in an emergency or if I want to travel. The shot needs to be administered at least two weeks before boarding so this is important to make sure he is always up-to-date. The hours are super convenient and the staff is wonderful. read more

After recently moving to the West Side of El Paso, I had the need to visit the local PetSmart on Sunland Park for some equipment for the TNR program. The program is known as "Trap, Neuter, and Release of Male and Female Stray Cats". The program needed to some carriers for a couple of cats to be taken to one of the programs Vets to be sterilized and vaccinated. The staff greeted me immediately and asked how they could be of service to me. I was impressed. They escorted me to where the carriers were, and they had a lot of them. I explained the reason for my visit and they recommended the carriers on sale for only $19 and then assisted me in getting the three carriers I needed. The whole visit was nearly under 15 minutes despite getting slightly distracted by the Freshwater Aquarium section (I will review the Aquarium department in another review. Stay tuned!) The staff was more than professional, they were social. Truly interested in hearing about the TNR program and some stories I had to tell about some of the cats we took care of. Good customer service is a hit or miss here. One day I had great service and the day before I didn't. The first day I went, the employees seemed burdened and in a bad mood. I'm short so I needed help getting an item off a shelf. There was a female employee right by me and she didn't offer to help me in any way. The cashier was also rude and unfriendly. Fast forward to the next day and it was like I was in a different store. The cashier was extra friendly and polite the minute I walked in. The store is huge! They have a wide variety of products, especially for dogs and cats. I wanted to buy stuff for my puppy like a crate and dog carrier. I also got him some toys to chew on because he's currently teething. The choices of dog and cat food is also plentiful and reasonably priced. They also have the cutest dog outfits! The clothes are pricey so I didn't get anything. Overall a good shopping experience. I know I'll be back. The question is when? read more

This place is badly run and needs a proper manager. The employees are all hanging out talking in the front office while a line of people wait at the register. Even after waiting in the line at the register you can't buy a hamster because they have no boxes. We offered to buy a cage with the hamster and they said it was against policy. I have had nothing but great service at this location. Everyone is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Everything that I've purchased at this store at the advice of an employee has been a huge hit for my new puppy as well as my two grand dogs. The trick or treat event they put on last month was adorable and generous. Both of my grand dogs came home with new buckets full of treats. On top of that, they spent time with each and every family in the photo booth and emailed awesome pictures to us at no cost. The employees seem to go out of the way to help with whatever is needed and I truly appreciate the excellent customer service. I have a 4 month old golden doodle. Today was her first time getting groomed because she received her last round of puppy shots last week. I booked a puppy bath and trim at the PetSmart at Eastlake. Upon arriving at 8:00 am, I explained to the groomer that it was Sadie's first time and she might be nervous (as to be expected for a puppy of her age getting groomed the first time). The groomer tried to put another leash on Sadie and of course she didn't let her. The groomer asked me to hold Sadie down so we could try again. Since Sadie was not sitting still (again as expected) the groomer said she would not be able to take her because she was aggressive and she wasn't going let herself get groomed AND that she would have to be shaved because she was matted. Well of course she's not sitting still! She's a first time puppy! Anyway, needless to say they turned her away. I took her to another groomer in the area and guess what!? They were able to get her groomed and she looks beautiful for a third of the price I was going to pay at PetSmart and they did not have to shave her either! I will NOT be taking my Sadie there ever. My dogs have mixed feelings on PetSmart (mostly because there's also a vet here so its never really clear to them if we're here for shots or toys... imagine if Disney World had this same technique), but I feel pretty sound in saying that this Westside PetSmart is a solid choice for your animal care needs. Price wise, they have the best prices I've seen on cat food anywhere (yes, I also have a cat) and I mean ANYWHERE. We typically buy Friskies and can pay around $10 or more for a 10 pound (actually it could be less than that) bag, but I can get a 16 pound bag for $10 at PetSmart... that's a steal! Pet furniture (i.e. cat towers and dog beds) tend to be on the higher end so I usually vouch for Amazon, although once I was convinced to spend close to $100 on a dog bed after my disbelief that this did dog bed was somehow softer than my own bed. It all comes down to what you're actually buying. Pet food and toys, yes. Pet furniture and treats, only in desperation. Everyone here is pretty nice and helpful. I never have to even ask for help when it comes to hauling large items like the 50 pound bag of dog food our dogs go through like candy. Good people who are always eager to give my pups treats. This PetSmart does offer some additional amenities like the vet and groomers. I hate to say this, but I steer clear of both. A while back we had one of our smaller dogs hair trimmed and she came back with multiple knicks on the inside of her leg. I never had an issue with the service at the vet, but their prices are astronomical compared to anything I've found locally. Decent pricing on some basics, good staff, lots of options when it comes to dog clothes, leashes, collars, and toys. Good place to start if you need some essentials for your pet. read more

My wife and I had a problem with a rental for a carpet cleaner. We ended up not using the cleaner and returning it 3 hours later. The manager and front staff really helped us and hooked us up with an exchange for the same price of the rental! Every time we come here the staff is great. read more

I love this place. Mainly because the way they offer prescription food for your pets and it doesnt require screenings from their Banfield Hospital veterinarians. I love how customer service is always top of the line too. When i lost my prescription cards for my cats' food, one girl was able to reprint me not one but TWO copies, in case i lose one again she said lol. Love it! Great selection of toys, wayyy better than Petco, especially for cats. So i always love coming here to spoil my babies. A lot of their products like cat towers and even kitty litter are a bit on the pricey side. But catch them on a good day with sales and whatnot, cant complain. read more

This PetSmart is a pretty good location. The store is always clean and well organized. Prices are very reasonable. Staff is friendly and helpful. I've never had to hunt somebody down when I needed help finding something. The line out the register always moves quickly and efficiently. This store also offers additional amenities such as dog-training, a vet and groomer. I can't speak to the quality of these services, but it's nice to know they're available, if needed. read more

This Petsmart is a really good location. The staff is very knowledgeable, helpful and kind. I called to make an appointment for my Pomeranian and quickly acquired one. All i wanted was for them to was a wash and trim. After almost two hours, they brought her back only to see her coat look choppy and uneven. Don't think I'll be back to take my dog for a grooming... Sign up for pet perks! Totally worth it! I have two places I go for pet supplies. Our local feed store, and petsmart! I like Petsmart because they have deals all the time and they have so many items that you wish you had for your pets :) like cat drinking fountains?! Also dog proof litter boxes! ( got those, still contemplating the water fountain) So many food choices as well. And during our aquarium phase ( we came from Hawaii, there had to be a transition that included fish and water) we kept our fish, crustaceans and turtle fed and happy with all the aquatic supplies here. Down to just one big tank now but still love to go and look at the fish, kind of like a free trip to the aquarium or a wistful walk down fish lane :) Oh yes, clothes for the pets! And dog boots?! We actually bought some cause our little husky's feet wore out on the trail. But they are not trail boots for dogs, just a fashion thing. But they have them :) among other things that will make your dogs and cats laugh with you ( and at you). So go, sign up for petperks because of the discounts. I have written a review on this place before, but I decided to change it. They need to work on their small pets and fish section. You will often see dead fish at the bottom. I have seen once or twice that the small animals has had an illness of some sort. The birds they take care of ok. The cats especially are cared for with great attention and care. While the staff is kind and knows a lot about animals, they told me over the phone they'd be able to help me finish grooming my bichon, even if she tended to be a little grumpy. I took her, and after 15 minutes, they told me they weren't able to help because she was "nippy." even though they had told me it'd be no problem when they talked to me on the phone. I wasn't happy that I wasted a trip with my dog, who hates the car, on a hot summer day only to have been given the wrong information. I was visiting family in El Paso when my dog suddenly got sick late at night. I took him to an ER and spent a lot of money. The following day, I took him this location since my dog was registered at Banfield at home. They quickly gave him the treatment that he needed. The veterinarian was very polite and knowledgeable. He discussed the treatment options for my baby with me and he treated my dog promptly. Their sensitive staff called for days to see what my dog's progress was.
