Hey pet barracks, take good care of these brats while I'm TDY. Thanks!

So. This is the one and only place I'm fully comfortable with boarding my fur child in all of the El Paso / Fort Bliss / White Sands / Las Cruces areas... I literally drive over an hour out of my way just to drop her here before a trip! Boarding facilities: take note! This is what you all need to be like! They look like a weird little space tent on the side of Dyer, but don't judge a book by its cover! Walking into other dog boarding places around here, you just about get blown back out the door by the smell of animal (dogs and cats and urine and feces.. ya know?) no matter how "clean" they are. Not here. You can tell they actually keep it clean! And they give tours (let's me know there's nothing to hide) They make you sanitize your shoes before walking back, so you know they actually care about cleanliness and the health of their animals. The facilities are awesome, the animals are given adequate sized "rooms", and they aren't just kept in a kennel all day! They're given lots of time to play throughout the day, and the staff actually pays attention and plays with them too. You can pay a little extra for one on one / puzzle time. At the end of their stay, they get report cards! The staff uploads pictures of them and gives an overview of their demeanour throughout the stay! I never have to worry whether or not my pup is in good hands. By the time I pick her up, even though she's happy to see me she's not always ready to go home! They're a little more expensive than a lot of the other places around here, but it's worth it! (They give military discounts) My only complaint is that they used to have a full time grooming service, but they've since stopped. I'd love to see that reinstated.

I enjoy the way they take care of my fur babies. They pay attention to detail on what each baby needs with feeding times. They send pictures to make sure that you're babies are doing well as well seeing how much fun they are are having. I know my babies are in good hands. They ask a lot of questions because they need to make sure each baby is healthy and they are up to with their shots. I appreciate for Pet Barracks.

    Amazing customer service & grooming

This was our second time taking our shih tzu to get groomed at the Pet Barracks. They do such a wonderful job. They're also the friendliest and most profesional staff in the El Paso area.

Second review. After boarding services. My dogs spent a few days here while we were out of town. They've always stayed at home, with a pet sitter, and I was a little concerned to leave them somewhere other than the Vet. After our last trip, when my Saint Bernard got bored and chewed up my new Pottery Barn recliner, I decided staying home was not an option. At least not for her. I was very impressed with the level of communication I experienced. They called me first to ask if they could add wet food to their dry food, since neither of my dogs were eating. When that didn't work for one of them, they called again to ask permission to add rice to the food. Both dogs were allowed to share the kennel and I was happy they got some playtime outside their usual environment. I was very impressed with their groomer. She also provided open communication as to what I wanted for the dogs and accommodated her schedule so that we could pick them up early. She was even able to cut the Saint Bernard's nails - the Vet wanted to sedate her last time he tried. Both dogs came home clean, soft, and smelling amazing. Wouldn't mind taking our third dog, a miniature Eskimo mix, to her instead of Petco. Overall, a great experience. Definitively using them again.

Simply the best place for your pet to stay. They actually care about your pet and keep you informed about their stay with them. My dog has always came home happy and healthy. Best staff in El Paso.

This place just opened so they are still putting the finishing touches on everything. I have been watching the progress of the building for the last few months and finally got to speak to the husband of the husband/wife owner team. Real nice guy and both he and his wife are retired military. She had these type of dome buildings where she was stationed(forget where) and so it just made sense when it came time to build The Pet Barracks. There are separate areas for dogs and cats, in different buildings actually. The dog kennels are really nice and pretty spacious. They all have an outdoor area and there is a huge astroturf area outside. I'll update this review once they are fully functional.

Our dog is looking and smelling fantastic thanks to the awesome grooming he got at Pet Barracks. This is his favorite place.

If you're looking for a place that is welcoming, patient, and understanding of dogs, especially young dog, this was the exact opposite. We scheduled a temperament evaluation because we were interested in boarding our dogs for the weekend. From the moment we walked in, the woman at the front desk was incredibly unfriendly and immediately gave off an incredibly cold, judgmental attitude. There was no greeting, no smile, and no attempt to make us or our dogs feel welcome. Instead, we were immediately made to feel unwelcomed and like we were an inconvenience. Our dogs were barking because they had just entered a new environment filled with unfamiliar dogs, a completely normal reaction, especially for puppies. You would expect a facility whose entire business revolves around dogs to understand that. Instead, we felt judged before anyone even attempted to interact with them. I would expect a facility that specializes in boarding and caring for dogs to understand that this is normal behavior and know how to handle it professionally. What upset me most was how our 6-month-old Doberman was handled. Without taking the time to introduce herself or allow him to become comfortable, she abruptly took his leash from my hand and disappeared with him. Less than 30 seconds later she returned and said, "He's not good. We won't be able to keep him. Do you even want to try the other dogs?" Thirty seconds? That's your temperament evaluation?! Thirty seconds is hardly enough time to evaluate any dog, let alone a young puppy in a completely unfamiliar environment. No reputable boarding facility can honestly assess a puppy's temperament in under a minute, especially in a brand-new environment. It was obvious there was no genuine attempt to evaluate him. It felt as though the decision had already been made. What made the experience even worse was her overall demeanor. She barely acknowledged our dogs, seemed uncomfortable even walking near them, and showed none of the patience, confidence, or compassion I would expect from someone who works with animals every day. At that point, I chose to leave immediately. If this is how prospective clients are treated in front of the owners during an initial evaluation, I have absolutely no confidence in how dogs are treated behind closed doors. This was, without question, the least dog-friendly experience I have ever had at a business that claims to specialize in dogs. Customer service matters. Compassion matters. Patience matters. Unfortunately, we experienced none of those today. We walked in hoping to find a place we could trust with our dogs. We walked out feeling judged, dismissed, and honestly angry. There are plenty of boarding facilities that understand dog behavior, especially puppy behavior, and know how to treat both pets and their owners with kindness and professionalism. This was not one of them. We will absolutely be taking our dogs somewhere that understands canine behavior, treats owners with respect, and actually enjoys working with dogs.

When I arrived, I had collapsible water bowls attached to both leashes. I dropped off the dogs and again everyone was very kind. When I came to pick up my dogs, I noticed one of the collapsible bowls was gone and asked about it. They couldn't find it and I asked for them to give me a call if found. My dogs looked very clean and the bandanas provided were very cute. As I was pulling out, I was stopped and told that one of the associates saw me drop something as I was getting out of my car when I first arrived to drop off my dogs, it looked like a frisbee - most likely the collapsible water bowl. But they didn't tell me when I dropped off the dogs and by that point it was gone which was upsetting but not a huge deal. When I got home, I realized one of my labs had a red and swollen eye. My dogs are very high energy, still puppies, and honestly need work on their training so I understand if she moved during and it was an accident but that is something they should have communicated to me. Although they were very nice over the phone and in person, the lack of communication means I will not be returning. Update: After the review the owner reached out with concern which was nice but nothing further was done. She was taken to the vet and thankfully no corneal abrasion but she does need eye drops 3 times daily for a week. Vet was unable to say exact cause but possibilities include shampoo/soap in eye, something having poked the eye, or strangulation. Again, I know my dogs are high energy so I don't believe it was any malicious intent of the staff. I do have pictures before and after so I do know that it occurred at the groomer's but am not faulting. Just advising if your dogs are high energy to consider grooming yourself to not risk this.
