We had the BEST experience with my dog!! I had booked a doggy day care for my graduation because my dog sitter fell through last minute. When I went to see the facility the day before I graduated to drop off her vaccine record, I found that the doggy day care didn't exist and the location was just an abandoned mall on a dodgy side of town... I had to quickly brainstorm to figure out where I could safely leave my dog so I could walk at graduation! We passed this PetSmart and I went in and explained the situation to the grooming team who so generously offered to book my dog a bath and brush while I walked so she would have a place to safely stay! I was able to walk and celebrate with my family and my dog was so happy when I picked her up. The whole team was fantastic and took such amazing care of my dog!! They were so kind and even wrote me a congratulations note when I picked her up. I felt so celebrated and grateful for people who really love dogs and helped me out in a difficult situation! Went to get a pair of goldfish for our 5 gallon tank. Worker refused to give us two saying "goldfish aren't social" a quick google search proves that is wrong. She also said 5 gallons is only big enough for 1 goldfish. Again a google search shows 2-4 for a 5 gallon tank. The worst part is she says all this in front a 10 gallon tank with over 50 goldfish in it. Will never go back. read more

After a horrible experience with a seven hour grooming appointment at a local groomer, PetSmart has been a breath of fresh air!! Mandy gets my dog in and out in two hours and has her looking as good as ever. Friendly service, quick turnaround time, professional results, and one happy puppy. Anna at the groomers was absolutely awful. She rushed through grooming my dog and now I'm at the vet with him. He has a double ear infection. He's a very social and lovable dog, but now he's so skittish leaving my side. This is not ok nor acceptable. read more

The young girl teenager replied "What do you need, KAREN?" When I asked where the dog clickers were she abruptly pointed across the way to the dog class area "They're right behind you, you literally JUST walked past them!". I hadn't seen them and genuinely didn't know where they were located. When I came to check out the same girl had rung me up for a product that was left sitting on the counter from the previous customer, I told her I didn't want that it wasn't mine and she said "Okay, Karen." Great PetSmart! They have a diverse selection of products. I was very pleased about the aquatic plants that they offer, and I got a bunch of glitter collars for $1 each on clearance! Their trainer is very knowledgeable; I definitely recommend their classes that they offer. They also have a rather large grooming salon. read more

Bad service. Poor customer care. Low morale. We took our puppy in for his first grooming appointment today and we were shocked with the attitude and service that was given. The groomer complained about how nervous he was (reminder, he is 4 months old) and how he wouldn't stop moving when they would try to trim him. They also complained to us about him barking in the kennel they had him in before the grooming session started. What do you expect when you show no patience with a puppy? If you are looking for a place where you feel that your pet is welcomed and the staff is excited to help you, I would highly recommend looking some place else! read more

This Petsmart is extremely lacking. On my visit in May 2022, there was only one employee that I saw and that was the cashier. Nobody spoke and asked if I needed help. There was nobody there to help me locate items. My dogfood was not stocked. They evidently were out and that is the main reason I visited. Aisles were not clearly marked with brands. I have been in the Petsmarts in Danville and 2 locations in Roanoke, Va. Those are much better. This Lynchburg store is severely lacking. read more

You get what you pay for. Dropped my maltipoo off for a bath and cut. They succeeded in their efforts for $40 less than another groomer I've used but unfortunately it was not a good cut. They asked about what length we wanted her hair cut and what shape we wanted her face cut - maybe we should have given them more instructions, but we're not the pros so... Some patches of hair were missed, her ears were not cleaned, her nails were not clipped, her face was cut very interestingly..., and her leg was cut in the process :(. She was licking the wound for days. I don't doubt dog grooming is challenging but the result is not usually this rough. read more

We took our shedding, hairy, foul mess of a dog in for a grooming. Their Furminator package was amazing. We could finally pet and scratch our pup without thousands of hairs flying around! They were even able to clip her nails, and our dog is notorious for being tough to clip. She was soft, shiny, and clean. She was also totally dry and didn't smell at all like wet-dog, which I have found to be a common problem with other groomers. We were very pleased with the results of her bath and de-shedding treatment and plan on returning when needed. read more

Special thanks to the trainers (Christina and Tiffany) for helping me with Harley. He was such a special puppy and they offered much needed guidance for him. Harley passed on July 6, 2018 but I will never forget the fun we had in training classes. I only wish I was able to complete them all with him. The store manager was wonderful when Harley passed and reimbursed me for training classes i was unable to complete with him. They all worked so hard with my pup whenever he came into the store. I scheduled an appointment a week in advance for my puppy's first grooming appointment. I drove all the way there in the freezing weather and pouring rain. Once I got there, I called to let them know I was there (per Covid protocol) and the guy seemed all confused. I told him I booked it and he said all his groomers called out that day and called every customer and told them. I told him that I didn't get a call and he brushed it off like I was wrong. He didn't offer a coupon, an apology, or even to reschedule. However, after looking at the reviews others have posted from grooming, I am very glad that I did not send my puppy here. I will gladly be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I am one not to get upset but I have been boiling hot all day. I bought my almost six month old peke in for a haircut I specifically ask not to cut it he eats and tail and a light trim especially on the puppies chest because of the summer heat. I was advise by a employee that keeping the hair on my puppies chest will keep him cool. Okay long story short I picked my pup up after two hours and I didn't even recognize him. This location shaved my pups fur down almost to the skin this is what I'm upset about. They got the ears and tail right I asked for a light trim all over someone dropped the ball. I will contact management and corporate in the morning. My fiance is very distraught over this also there policy is pay first at the front then you can pick up your dog .I didn't see the manager on duty that made my initial appointment and my tall and calm demeanor would have been to much of a threat towards these people come on man skinning down a pekingnese I can imagine what my pup was subjected to. read more

This used to be a great store. The manager, Danny is great but he is usually busy on conference calls etc. The last visit was a nightmare. My Mother has an animal rescue. We spend around 1000 per month. The staff is no longer helpful. They have had attitudes when you dare to bother them with a question. My Mother injured her back because the staff refused to help her load the items in the van. This will be the last trip thee. We will drive to Waynesboro or Charlottesville from now on. read more

Tiffany is such a great trainer here! I've seen her work on some dogs in the past that had BIG successes! I'm currently in a Puppy Class and I've already paid for the next two levels because I see amazing results already. I cannot wait to see how Tiffany can shape my little guy into a well trained dog. I hope to make my pup a therapy dog for local nursing homes and can't wait to see what the therapy dog classes here can do for him. I recommend taking advantage of the package deals with her. Petsmart in Lynchburg has helped us with our new 3 year old rescue dog! We are currently attending their obedience courses and already we can see a difference. They also helped us know what food would be good for him and what treats he will respond to the most! We will be trying out their grooming soon. read more

My fiancé and I went to buy our first pet together. It had to be small so we picked a hamster, got together all the things we would need and started looking for a hamster. The end result is that a little over half an hour went by and no workers helped us. The front register called twice for an employee to help us and we asked a couple workers who responded with "I'll get someone to help you." After about half an hour of waiting on a not very busy Sunday morning at Petsmart my fiancé was aggravated enough to leave and we never got our hamster at all as a result of very poor customer service. read more

I recently bought a bearded dragon from petsmart. I want to give a special shoutout to Emily at the Lynchburg location. She gave me such great information regarding the pet I was purchasing and answered all my questions. The entire staff is phenomenal and so helpful. Now when I come in they all know my pet by name and ask how she's doing. Also a few years ago I took my dog to have his nails trimmed and they did better then the vet! So kudos to the grooming department also. Now the negative...our poor girl came home with pinworms and now we have to make a vet appointment. One of the better pet stores in town. No hassle what so ever when replacing a dead fish or any other supplies. I was even allowed to swap out dog food that had been open. You very rarely have to ask for help unlike Pet Aquatic. read more

We started taking our pure white Persian for a haircut at the Lynchburg, VA store approximately 3 years ago. Compared to other places, he came home happy and relaxed. Unfortunately our Paloma passed away a year ago. When we adopted 2 new Persians, we took them directly to Brittany and Tippy who do a wonderful job with both of them. They are quite a handful our boys, but they're relaxed as they get their haircuts, baths, etc. Not many places grooms cats, but we're very happy even though we travel an hour to get here. The staff always seem to be in a good mood, they have positive attitudes, they love seeing my fur babies when I come in to get them groomed and they always seem to know what kind of clip I want on my pups.
